Hi Guys,

I have a 2006 A3 Sportback. When i first got the car, if you lock the doors and the windows were open they would close if you kept the lock button pressed on the fob. For some reason this has stopped working. Ive had a look through VCDS and they are still enabled.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks!

Maybe the battery in your key needs changing.
If it's getting weak then the continuous signal the car needs to do the auto close may be fragmented and therefore not work properly.
Autoclose on my last A3 used to randomly work/not work until I got a new battery.

After battery disconnect you have to reset the windows before this feature will work.

On each window in turn - wind down and hold at the bottom for a couple of seconds and then wind up and hold for a couple of seconds.

After this has been done it resets the start and finish positions and re-enables auto close. (or it did on mine !!)

Cool. Cheers for that! Will give it a try when i get back to my car post work

With mine you have to press the button once to lock it, then press it a second time and hold it until the windows are shut. The same goes for opening them, press it once to unlock, then press it again and hold until the windows are open as much as you want them to be.

That's dead right but if you've disconnected the battery they need to be reset by the method I explained before they will work again.

Im pretty sure we enabled the one-touch windows after the Cruise install Sachen, which should have then activate the comfort closing.

I was a bit confused by it as well when it wouldnt work by the buttons..

:lmfao: @ this thread!!!

One question................ WAS THE CAR BATTERY BEEN DISCONNECTED AT SOME POINT BETWEEN THE WINDOW AUTO CLOSE WORKING AND NOT WORKING???

C'mon mate - no need to shout ! Afaik there should be no other reason for them to stop working, apart of course from a flat key fob battery like you pointed out or disabling with VCDS !

I think people are getting confused with the actual problem here.

As Mike says the comfort closing via remote is activated by activating the one-touch windows, and as Mike said, this is activated by the sequence of operations on the electric windows switch.

The problem though is that Sachens one touch windows have been activated and are working however the comfort function closing windows via remote isnt working. All settings have been checked in VCDS.

Sorry for shouting. Although it was more of a comedy shout than an angry one!

originally...no

Originally no? So you mean the auto windows stopped working BEFORE the battery was disconnected?

Also, do your one-touch up and down windows work when using the electric windows switch?
If they do still work then your problem isn't anything to do with requiring a window reset, IMO.

Yep, one touch up and down still work. The only part that doesnt work is when you lock the car and the windows close.

if your car is due a service or some work at Audi at some point in the near future get them to sort it out. they do this sort of thing for free for me

Are you still able to lock the car via the fob from a fair distance? i.e. 15-20 meters away.
If not, then as I said, try a new battery in your key.

Any progress on this sachen? Installed into a '57 2.0TDI 170 yesterday with the same issue.. Very strange!

I do have progress. they just randomly started working again without me having to do anything....

dont ask as dont know why!

Was pretty strange the auto close stopping working and then starting again.

heres to hoping something else starts working that adds an extra 50hp to the car.:racer:

My drivers window had stopped winding all the way up and down with one touch of the switch.. I tried this and it now works perfect again! Nice one mate!

There are 4 systems in play here:

1st automatic run should be active in the door modules which tbh is default from audi anyway which allows one touch in the 1st place
2nd coding window closure via remote, which is done by when locking continue to hold lock & it will make windows go up, but will stop when you release button
3rd coding comfort closing via remote that actually will when you lock & hold button continuously, make the windows go up & when you release the button will still continue to close
4th is making sure the one touch is setup via the reset method with window switches.

Hope that helps :)

Would like to know this too as my S3 does 1 & 2 but not 3?

I've always enabled this feature via vcds yes.

TBH never used that feature, but yes it does that

I've always enabled this feature via vcds yes.

So you can only enable option 3 with VCDS - i.e. there is no way of doing somekind of electronic vodoo - hold the key fob button down for 10 seconds, touch your toes, kiss your Mrs - sequence to enabling it ?

If you wanna try some of those & stick it on youtube, sure you'd gain a good following :p

But, I've always done via vcds & I dont know anyother way to enable this.
