Hi,

My name is Emma I have recently bought my first S3 (facelift) in Ming Blue with light grey leather interior.

I have been following the forum for a few weeks now (even though I have only just got around to registering) which has helped me settle on the car I eventually bought!

Unfortunately no modifications as of yet...as the car needs some work to restore it back to its former glory!!

I picked it up from the garage yesterday after it has been there all week!! It has had new discs and pads, new battery, new oil cooler, new filters and a full service.

It still needs....

Discs & Pads on the front, Standard Concert CD Player put back in, Dreaded Drivers Side window clip needs sorting as the window isn't' working...hope to have this done soon.

On a positive note though.. my aluminium wing mirrors have just arrived this morning...:thumbsup:

Thanks...and I hope I have too! Pics will be up asap, just in the process of putting the mirrors on now...but having a slight technical hitch!

Have you thought about getting uprated discs and pads for the front? The S3 is a hefty beast and the standard front brakes are a bit rubbish if you drive quickly!

Well I bought them of ebay and the listing said they had come of an 03 S3, that's what I have so I thought they would fit perfect, but it seams they don't sit flush and there is gap running along the bottom, also the screw holes don't match up to screw them on!!...umm
 
They are probably off an 8P one

Did you buy just the mirror casings, or the full mirrors?

The casings are a different shape from pre to post facelift but if it's the full mirrors I don't see why they wouldn't fit?
Are they genuine Audi solid alloy ones?

They are 8P ones,look at the angle of my ones as opposed to yours which are straight nearest to the car.

I bet they are cheap copies,seeing as the seller didn't know what model car then it does make it suspicious doesn't it.

This is the sellers response to them not fitting...obviously you dont know what you are talking about these came off a audi s3 thankyou, and do fit and are genuine. i used to work for audi. if youve sold yours why do you want another pair? these r genuine.

Is there a slight difference between the C5 RS6 mirrors and 8L S3?
 
Yes they probably cleaned the bogs out for an Audi dealership,they are talking crap.
 
They're not 8P mirrors Jase, they're pre facelift 8L mirrors.

Post facelift 8L mirrors have a much more angled inner edge, pre facelift are like the ones above. the screw holes are also in the perfect location for pre facelift
 
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a little chav to me. Open a complaint with ebay and paypal(if that is how you paid).

what about the fact there is no model number? Also the guy I got them off said they are on an 03 ...he must be lying??

Welcome - this forum has been pretty awesome for me fixing issues etc so you've come to the right place!

I know how you feel. I spent a bit on mine to get it to its former glory but it's awesome now. I just need to stop buying bits for it!
 
Someone is selling a pair of original chrome mirrors (02 model)- get this £350 !!! And if that wasn't bad enough also £25 postage .

Well, let's keep an eye on them to see if they sell. It's one thing to ask and another to get, but saying that they are popular !

Hi, Looks nice that Emma but a shame you dicided not to go for the best colour ;) Bit of tlc and no doubt you'll have it looking mint.
Shame about the mirror caps.

haha thanks...so what is the best colour..I thought mine was :unsure:
