It was warm 19 degrees ...it shoots down on boost... hottest ive had it was 20 ambient, 55 off boost, 25 on boost, it was only 55 because of a traffic jam....

Ok so it sounds like I need to do some better testing. I need to find a traffic jam (shouldn't be difficult) and I need to rag it a bit more.

Unfortunately this test will be a bit of a waste of time as I'm not running massive boost and will then be going stage 2 and a bit more boost in 2 weeks.

Yeah I was surprised at how cold it was. I know it was only 17 outside so it will be a lot worse in the heat of summer. 66/67 is damn hot!!! What does the track car do?

67 from the SMIC is stupidly hot, you should see the timing pull, massive CF's pulled when it reaches that, and fuel dump too with AFR's dropping to 10.5:1 :(

Track car has never seen over 29 degree IAT's when logging, even at 24psi from a ko3S heat pump.

Might need a bigger FMIC for that at some point this year though..... :ninja:

My FMIC should be up to the job then. I think the B5 TIP and 3" DP is helping a lot too.

Just the crappy ex manifold to sort then... i desperately need one, im in limbo at the moment (waiting well over a year now) my hybrids going to get its *** kicked then....
Did you get a new standard one?

Great thread Westle, lot's of effort and useful info here and glad you finally got the best looking alloys...

Can I ask where you sourced the pipewerx dp and cat and who fitted it for you and at what cost? pm me if you want. I want the same but the only thing putting me off is fitting costs... Also how much louder did the exhaust note get with the new dp?

Cheers Maz, your new wheels look good mate but I still prefer the S4s ;)

I dont mind giving you the details here. DP and de-cat off eBay. I only went for it because my turbo was off and my subframe had been dropped so it made sense. I was already paying 4Rings £250 just for the labour of removing the old turbo and fitting the new one so they charged me an extra hours labour for the DP.

Give S3 Baby a PM as he had just the DP and de-cat fitted by itself last week at an Audi specialist and he can give you a price just for that job alone.

Thanks man, you know I love the S4's but mine need freshening up and the RC's were a bargain in my eyes that could'nt be missed. I'll have a word with S3 baby, thanks. ....the labour quote I got sounds about right though :( why does every little thing cost a bomb to fit on these motors...

It's a massive ball ache to do the DP on our motors that's why. I really wanted to fit a hi flow exhaust mani too but there's nothing out there at the right price just yet.

Just collected my car after its alignment. It feels so much better and I tested it at high speed too :whistle2:

I didn't get a chance to whack it through many bends but it definitely feels less twitchy and more planted.

Just checked, S3 should be running 4 minutes toe out per side on the front and 8minutes toe out per side on the rear.

I run zero toe front and rear... fairly sure thats what the alignment kit suggested...

Toe in will give you fairly dead feedback from the steering in a straight line whereas toe out will make it a little twitchier... IIRC Glen (Ess_Three) liked his set with a little toe out as it feels sharper on turn in...

<tuffty/>

Bigg Red will most likely do it.

I called Biggred who state on their website that they do all makes of caliper refurbs!!! What a load of cack! They wont touch Porsche 4 pot Brembos as they are "labour intensive" and tend to brake when refurbing! I'll take my business elsewhere then!

Any other ideas fellas?

I could drop DaveB a PM and ask what firm he uses if you like matey?>

Yes please mate.

I PMd him a few weeks ago on his account here but got no reply :(

My main issue is removing the dust boots. If a so called brake specialist company like Biggred wont touch them then what hope have I got of doing them myself!

Don't bother doing the seals man, they're likely to be fine anyway! Just paint them and slap them on!

Too late. a few of the dust boots already had splits so I've ripped them off and I have 3 out of 8 pistons out and a few seals. Plus I want them powder coated instead of painted so they need to be stripped for that!

I'm going to keep the drivers smic and run some 4" ducting into the airbox on the passenger side. I looked at the pics of s3 Daves and then bought what I needed. Now I've got it all I'm thinking I might need a straight piece of 63mm silicone too.

Good thread Westle, been enjoying it muchly, good work...

Gave the old girl some stick in the wet last night and my god did she handle well. I took my mate out with me who is a BMW M3 owner and he was just holding on tight as he's not used to taking corners at that speed in the wet lol.

He said "I can't believe the grip of the *******" :)

My skills are very basic mate and everything i've learnt is from messing about with cars. I would love to have been a mechanic.

......but ended up working in IT. That sounds familiar..... and I feel EXACTLY the same.

I feel the same...not in IT, but am sat at computer all day.

Having said that, its a bit less fun when its a job and not a hobby
