F1 Season 2011

sadly we won't see anyone like that again, because there are just too many rules and driver aids!!

I've been saying this to myself for the past few weeks. I watched a short DVD about the film that came with Top Gear magazine and can't wait to see the movie documentary. I would loved to have seen how he drove the cars of today - would have been interesting. Hamilton has driven Senna's old car and found it very difficult.

P.S. Is anyone off to watch the F1 at Silverstone this year?

yeah ive seen snips of that and the documentary on Senna..... that man was legendary, yet never won anywhere near what he should have, didnt stop him from becoming a legend though

sadly we won't see anyone like that again, because there are just too many rules and driver aids!! Hamilton for me is as close to that type of driver out there IMO

Agreed,as Senna said "when you stop taking the chance to over take you stop being a racing driver"

Driver aids are what f1 is all about unfortunatly, its the develpoment of in car tech to make them as fast as possible within those written rules.

Dunno about you chaps but what sets Ham apart for me is the fact he goes for it no matter where it is..... most others out there only overtake on the prescribed areas, prob why he spends more time with the marshalls in fairness - I dont think i'd watch it though if it weren't for the potential thrill of Ham's overtakes.... hopefully these 1.6 units make it more thrilling, although heaven forbid the car be allowed to get out of shape - cue the health and safety brigade

just had a thought, im not doing owt this weekend - so tickets for Montreal, £70 for the main pass to pick up from the circuit - check!- hotel in Montreal for 2 nights, £150 in a decent one....sound alright?

Flights, £500!!! - oh....thought i'd have got a deal lol

Might have to do Germany or British instead :)

Yep, Vettal crashed again and Nico tops the times for P1.

Oh dear, more misery for Lewis.....

Not the best day for lewis I must say, disappointed.

It's raing because Rihanna is there... Umbrella...ella...ella...

*will get my coat*

yup but the replay shows Button checking his mirrors..... to the left.....

Ye im 50/50 on this. Ye Button was looking in his mirrors but not at the time when Hamilton begun to make his move.

Im a massive Hamilton fan as you are to Tim but I think hes driving too hard. Vettels lead is constantly extending and I think from the last two races the pressure is showing for Hamilton.

im a big lewis fan but he is showing pressure lately. i think its got to be annoying when you drive your car as fast as you can on the limit yet still cant get near seb.

how can anyone catch him i dont know.

glad its being restarted now. 12 mins and with full wets on

and the incident with lewis and jenson i think both were at fault. jenson should have gave him a little more room and lewis should have backed out as the move was not on so both to blame(if blame is needed) but thats racing

Twigs, yeah I know mate.... i just dont know how they can get him to back up, he's just hungry to get forward and we dont want to lose that or else he'll turn out like every other driver out there (most of)

Racing isn't racing without tryin to overtake - the main problem with F1!

Try watching BTCC and they go for it no matter what!

Seems like there is too much focus on H&S - very disappointed this weekend. The 4lap safety car at the start is appaling! If they are going to do that then don't race at all!

Ye I see what you mean, the cars just not there for him.

Oh well lets see how the race finished up.

DAMN!!! did you see that marshall fall in the middle of the track twice picking up the renault debris????

i bet he **** himself when he seen them cars flying towards him.

that could have been a very dangerous situation

amazing drive from button, what a finish to grand prix lads. vettel cracks under pressure.............................. well it seems he is human lol

What a race once it restarted, well worth the wait.

I really wanted Shui on the podium. Good job Button though

So whos your driver of the day guys.

Mine is Button seen as he had 2 bumps and a drive through. But best race for Shui, so wanted him to hold off Webber and get a podium.

Finishing 1st from 6th is an achievement, but from 21st is ridonculous! Worth the 5 hours in the end!

I was getting really annoyed because of the amount of laps behind safety car but it was so worth to wait till the end.
Marshall falling twice in the middle of the track twice was hilarious. I couldn't believe what was happening after restart.
Brilliant drive from Button, just hope he doesn't get penalised now. Wanted to see Schumi on the podium. Finally Vettel failed!

That was a stunning win for Button. What a finishing last lap.

Wow - what an end to the race, worth the wait for that one. DC and MB did a pretty good job of filling what was a very long wait, must have been very difficult for them. Well done the BBC as well for staying with it.

I read the JB LH crash as a racing incident - however in those conditions when there was no guarantee that Jenson could see Lewis's move, when he saw Jenson move and take the normal racing line, Lewis should have backed off. My view is that Lewis was totally to blame there.

That marshal looked like he was a mate along for the day as he seemed to be dressed in black and not high vis in anyway, I bet he need a new set of underwear when he saw the car lock up when it spotted him.

What a race, and what and evening, 5 hours of f1!!!

Cracking result for Button, deffo drive of the day.

Another cracking result for RB too, 2-3 :arco:

The marshal incident was hilarious, bet he doesn't get an invite back next year!! lol:undwech:

I also liked Button's **** take at Sebby on the podium, as much as i have a man crush on him, that did make me
chuckle

wonder where you know who has gone since the prancing horse was mullered lol

Epic race! No other way to describe it! Bit slow to begin with but it made up for it!

Awesome drive from Button. Another scrappy one from Lewis, although I don't think it was as scrappy as Monaco. I think it was his fault on Webber, but a racing incident with Button. Button couldn't see him through the spray, and when Button started taking the racing line, Lewis was already committed down the inside of the bend. Shame really. He needs to clear his head. He's showing signs of desparation/frustration behind the wheel now. Pushing the car more than what it's capable of. Just shows how much he really wants to win! Hopefully he'll have a cleaner race next time out.

I really felt sorry for Shuey. I'm a massive fan! Ever since I got into F1 in '96. I literally went into mourning when he retired! So when he came back and it took him a while to get back into the swing of things, I didn't know what to feel. This was a cracking race for him. Shame the Merc had no answer for the McLaren and Reb Bull once the track dried out. He's still got the fire in his belly, and I'm hoping after this race it's become a raging inferno once again! I loved the piece he did with DC before the race. Laughed my *** off!

Also felt sorry for Di Resta. Had a great race up until he started getting scrappy. Future champion I think once he gets a break in a top team.

chopper that stirling Moss interview suggests he goes too far with his personal life, not his racing dude....listen again ;)

I just ****** well hope Hamilton doesn't move to Red Bull - proves nothing driving a faster car. Button and Hamilton are quality drivers; it's Vettel and Webber need to be put back in a slower car and that will prove something!

He has a great teammate partnership and we know the guy can race, he's got the attitude (ok maybe a little too firey at times) but isnt that what racing is about? Trying to overtake? We saw on Sunday that Vettel can't race under extreme pressure and to see Button go from basically last to first (yes safety car may have helped) but the guy can drive and fully deserved it after Vettels luck at Monaco!

Vettel is a good driver (better than Webber) don't get me wrong but it is the car :( it's a shame the cars aren't even such as the Clios at the BTCC racing. It would male racing so much more interesting.

Gramted if you put Button and Hamilton in one of the lower down teams they may struggle but I bet they would still push their way to the top unlike others. I mean look at Kobiyashi (sp?) he did really well but the car just doesn't have the pace and same goes for Schumacher.

The other issue is KERS and DRS - you may aswell fit NOS to tourung cars. I know its all about advancing technology but its not raw racing. Bring back days of Senna :) 12000BHP raw as **** manual gear changes with rear wheel slides ;) none of this 'let's try and involve more overtaking by ususing technology. Hamiltpon tries to overtake and yet he get's penalised. I know it's a not contact sport but it's not as if he's trying to cause an incident, he's just determined to win.
