Well after my recent interview I have been informed tonight that my membership has been accepted and I'm now the proud owner of a bag tag :w00t: Anyone else on here play? If so where and whats the course like?

i used to play at the bank house course in bransford worcester, its a florida style course with lots of water and white sand bunkers, also played at boughton park in worcester, this more traditional old course wnad they holdl a lot of competitons here and is quite tough for newcomers

Keen golfer myself! Just had my membership lapse at The Celtic Manor for 2 reasons, bought the new car so had to make cut backs and my old man is captain at my old club so back there to show support

I did buy myself a set of clubs a few years ago,but after playing for a couple of years and taking a few lessons, i didnt really see myself improve and got frustrated and gave up!
I think a time issue was the biggest factor as i never seemed to play enough to help me get better.Clubs have sat in my garage now for nearly 2 years without moving

i have only just started playing on the golf ranges (top Golf) more as a social thing to do with mates to kill time. Mind you the only club i own is a Driver to smack it as far as i can :sly:

Sell the clubs and use the money on the Audi! Im sure they should be worth a good penny... enough to buy a nice mod?

I shall keep them just incase i start playing again, as you say its a good social thing. That part of it i enjoyed.

Im trying not to spend any money on mods,as i cant see myself keeping this one for a long time!

I Play now and then myself .Play at brandon woods mostly.I was a member of Lear seatings society ,I won a few times with them then it folded ,Istill have there trophies LOL,I was also a member at Copeswood grange but thats under water six months of the year .I have Played a few top courses in the past and loved it for a few years,But Its a very frustrating game , one week im pretty good the next god knows whats going on LOL .My personal best is 77 around brandon woods I bogeyed the last four holes on that card :( . I think that golf has got more popular because the last round me and my mates had at Brandon, it took near on Six hours waiting and getting stuck behind the hackers ! .
Lifes to busy to practice these days though so maybe when i retire i will clean off the old sticks and go for it properly ...

very keen golfer here!!! was out of the game for 5 years... actually left school to become a golf pro after going from beginner to 8 HC in just over 18months... got knocked off my scooter at 16 was out for 6 months and totally lost interest... the last year or so i have got right back into it, managed to track down my original teacher and also joined my old club (abridge golf and country club)

oh and btw, if anyone is in the market for new clubs... Please get yourself some Taylormade r11's.... I got the D & 3wd and OMG!!!

Started playing when I was 7 at Windermere in the Lake District. Got down to 9 when I was 15/16, then did not play much when I went to University, and certainly could not afford membership when i graduated and moved down to Slough for my first graduate job. Played about 6-8 times a year over the next 15 years when I went back home.

Got back into it around 4 years ago when i became single again, and am now vice captain at Chipping Norton GC in Oxfordshire, playing off 7. Should be down to 6 by the end of this year.

I played in the 'William hunt Trilby Tour' in Yorkshire last week, and had a fantastic day, apart from the fact I came 11th out of 120, when 10 go through to the UK Final. Beaten in a one-shot shootout by my mate who tied with me on the round!!

If any of you golfers are ever around Oxfordshire and fancy a game, let me know a few days prior, as I'm always after an excuse to escape from work!!

Cheers,

An R11 driver should be winging my way in the next few weeks!! Will mean I can finally retire the old Ping G5 warhorse.

Cheers,

Ping G5 warhorse.

My current big dog lol, soooo easy to hit, pity I cant allways keep it straight lol I suppose short & straight is better than long and lost haha. Been for a round tonight after work and had a total nightmare, 3 holes & 3 diffrent bunkers on the trot. On a positive note though played some lovely chip shots and my putting was good, no more than 2 putts. At least tomorrow is another day lol.

Love my old G5, but the R11 felt wicked when I had a go the other week.

Got our annual Pro-Am tomorrow at Chippy. Weather looks crap, but I hope I've got my dream team, with our scratch captain and one of our juniors joining me...

Cheers,

A few years ago i played 18 every Sunday at the Lakeside Lodge in pidley.
Lovely course and less then 10mins from me.
Nowdays i play every so often at Melbourn.
I play with King Cobra 3400's.

I can't be far from you westy, i live close to pidley too.

I'm joining Elton Furze next year, so far i have spent over £500 playing golf this year, not including a new driver (R9),new shoe's (nike Lunar control) and a new odyssey White Hot XG No.1 putter.

I play Thore wood, Orton meadows, Pidley, Pavenham Park, Brampton and John o Gaunt mainly.

I played Pavenham Park on a corporate day the day before the Club Championship weekend. The Greens were like lightning, and I heard one chap had a 9 putt on the 1st, as the pin was halfway up the main slope!!!

Cheers,

Between the ages of 12 and 16 i was down to a 3 handicap, and wanted to go semi-pro but my mum wouldn't let me quit school :( now i play twice a year if i'm lucky and usually average around a 15 handicap

Once you stop playing regularly it just goes out of the window :(

Used to be a member at Banstead in Surrey, very narrow, tree-line course with lots of hills. Quite challenging and you have to cross a dual carriageway twice

Yeah, the green's at Pavenham are lightning, i have ******** up a good hole many times, especially when i have been playing slow greens a lot.

My old man i a member there, so get to play it whenever i want. The only problem with the place is at the weekend, it get's packed, and i have had to wait over half an hour to tee off on the 3rd!!, but sometimes, when you get a touch of genius on the 2nd you get a round of applause, like when i chipped out of the bunker and into the hole for 3, sadly it doesn't always happen like that lol
