Just found a load of info so I'll give it a go.:

This is a simple tuner application that can help fine tune your current setup. DISCLAIMER: This is not a full tune/map, just makes adjustments overall, not rpm increments. Since unisettings is up to date and works easier, here is the DL page Unitronic Chipped - UNI Setting V 1.4

To use, you will need a vagcom cable (true Ross-tech.com prefered) and with the car on, hit the READ FROM ECU tap. This will bring up any changes made to the car previously and then you can make the changes you wish. When done, hit the WRITE TO ECU tap. This will be in the ecu until you change them again.

Why do you need this? It allows you to do things like adjust idle to eliminate the noise from a fw or shaking from stiffer mounts. Adjust fueling on cold starts that can be an issue when using larger injectors to even curing backfires between shifts. The best part is with use of Vagcom, you can play with timing to get the most power out of your setup. With addition of race fuel, wmi (water/meth injection), or just a ic upgrade the iat (intake air temps) will be much lower allowing for more timing to be added resulting in more power. But keep in mind, like said before, these are overall adjustments and are far from a tune. You cant say screw a BT tune and add in 1000cc inj with a gt35r and expect to make it run well or at all.

I know a bit of a question you may not want to answer bill...
But...
Is this the kind of program you would use to fine tune a little more power from say my S3?
I do agree this is best done by somebody with more than half an idea . I would gladly pay somebody like bill for his time to do this.

Bill used UniSettings or similar to change the timing/fueling on my Revo stage 1 just to fine tune it after the remap. It adjust some base settings on the Bosch ECU

Mine is on a custom code Stage 3 custom map.
Its currently not max'd out . I just wondered if this is how they pulled the boost out as it used to hit 26 PSI but now sits at around 20 to 22

I believe Bill does often make small changes using uni settings, I'm fairly sure that's how the extra timing is wound in when things like WMI are fitted, as it makes it very easy to pull said timing back out if anything fails.

Ohps, I opened this page then replies 30 mins later, only to find a load of other replies had been made!

fail.

Can boost be turned above 100%? I'd imagine surely not, as otherwise people would be using it all the time to try and get more power!

No it cant, I just tried clicking on the up arrow on the application and it stops at 100%

100% of what though?
The MAP'D figure or what the car/ turbo can manage?
as my car did go wild and do about 2.5 bar when i first fitted new downpipe !

Yeah it would be nice to know what the scale is between 0-100% regarding load scale, for example every 10% = 1psi. I dont really want to start playing around with it so i'll probably just run my car on actuator pressure until I see Bill next month. Unfortunately this will **** up all the VCDS testing I wanted to do with the B5 TIP and airbox/cone filter :(

Load Scale winds it all down... Its only allowed in this programme to scale down from 100%
APR have their VTune which when on an enabled APR ecu allowed the load scale to be wound up above 100%

it is DIY, but you can inflict damage if you get settings wrong.
Be carefull is my advise.. logging is ESSENTIAL if you adjust things.. else you are blind to the results and likely consequences.

I find unisettings more stable than lemmiwinks

Dude, you're turning the boost DOWN,

For reference, and to give you an idea, a mate of mine had a P-torque mapped 225 LCR, which on the liquid guage, showed about 260bhp when run at 100%, he turned it down to 70% on the load scale in unisettings and it drove like a standard car, and logged 210-215bhp on the liquid.

If you've got a boost guage, whack it down to 80% load and see what you get, if it drops you to like 15psi, whack it back up 5% at a time until you're around 20ish, THEN fit your B5 TIP and do some comparison testing!

I like the plan Nick thanks.

I know i'm turning boost down, I'm just very careful about what I do after just spending £1700 ;)

I could do with getting the boost down to around 20/21psi so it's inline with the old turbo but if I lower the load scale have I got to adjust anything else?

Agreed ^^ you can always put it back to how it was

No, just turn the load scale down and that's it.

my mate had a mental LCR, 3'' DP/decat, massive FMIC WMI, running 8.25 degrees of additional timing through uni settings flowing 236g/s on a stock ko4!

When he sold the car, he removed ALL the mods so it was standard but still with the map on, and turned the load scale down to 70% in uni settings and sold it as a standard car

Haha cheeky sod.

Ok I'll turn it down when I get home and get some logs done. S3 Baby is on his way back from Revo HQ to help me do my rear tie bars. He's got a stage 2 map and his clutch has already started to slip on the way home lol ;)

your car sux - comms issues dude :(
same as when I "eventually" flashed it

got any ICE installed which could mess with the k-line?

On mk3 ibiza's which do this often I pull the inst cluster fuse and comms works for them

Ah yes I remember you killing all the interior lights when I was at yours. I'll give that a go.

I don't have anything fancy ICE wise just a xcar link phone kit!

Ok I pulled the fuse for the interior lights and the instrument cluster and it still wont read the ECU. S3 Baby popped round and it wont work on his either.

What version of UniSettings are you lot using?

I just found this little guide on another forum so i'll give it a try tomorrow morning:

The RossTech USB cable won't communicate with Unisettings if you have "intelligent mode" check under the Options menu. Usually you will see an error like "Unable to initialize communication"

So what you have to do?
1. Turn car just to ON (not full start)
2. Connect Vag cable to RossTech software and look for Options
3. Uncheck the "intelligent mode", hit Test, then Save.
4. Cycle the car OFF (wait a second) and then turn ON again
5. I have better results with RossTech software close and open Unisettings
6. Try reading from the ECU

Ive tried it and have the same problem, are you using vista?
Works with APRs vtune ok, but im APR tuned so not sure if vtune will work on yours?, very similar options

ahh yes.. Good point, forgot that bit.
check in your vag-com settings menu its no in intelligent mode.. if so untick the box and save, then quit and try uni again.

Just been out for a blast and some logging.

Boost is doing weird things. Had to up the load to 95% to get 20-21psi in 3/4th gears but in 5th & 6th it still wants to boost to 25-26psi!!!

Anyway did a quick log in 4th gear but couldn't get it right to the redline due to traffic conditions. Registered 207g/s (roughly 258bhp) and didn't see timing pulled more than 4.5 degrees.

If I can take it to the redline i'm sure of a few more g/s ;)

If I get anything like Dane's gains from fitting my B5 TIP I'll be knocking on the door of 280bhp!

Sounds good man, 207g/s from a revo stage 1 with the load turned down is good going! get Bills TIP on there and it's going to fly!
