whats the longest you have driven without stopping?

Lmao Im sitting here at hospital waiting for treatment and just had to thank you guys for this thread, some of the comments are so funny, special thanks to Axios and Aythree, you guys are hilarious. Sure taking my mind off whats to come.
 
Before this thread goes completely off topic... Only about 2 -3 hours.

audi upgrades
665 miles only - nearly 12 hours on a return trip from Sussex to Gateshead.

Only stopped to drop a package off & fill up with fuel next door to the drop off & have a pee. No number 2s. Can't remember how long the pee took - it was 18 years ago, so info has been lost I'm afraid.

I'd only been driving a few weeks an all. Stupid thing to do. It was a bit trippy on the way home.

Silver medal for me?

Edit - "drop a package off" - my parents used to have a legit parcel delivery business. Sounds a bit dodgy otherwise...
 
Are we allowed to stop at red lights.... or does that equal the end of a journey?

If it does, living in London, my longest ever journey is 20 meters.

Is it the end of your journy?
If your journy is to go to the nearest red light and stop. then yet.
But if your journy is to go from A (where ever the hell that is) to B (the end of the trip, the happy place you want to go, Not a red light or a ferry or a train). Then no, stopping at a red light does not count. :)

And if I reverse does that come off of the total mileage or add to it?

2001 - drove a sales rep from London to Edinburgh on A1 all the way - with three fuel stops it took about 10 hours.... never again!

How long have you stopped for before putting it in reverse? Is it at lights? That'd be doubly confusing...

I could probably swing over to the other side of the road (or mount the pavement), thus negating the need to stop.

But is it the end of your journy?

What happens if you get stuck on a motorway and are unable to pull off, so you are stuck on said motorway for several hours and this motorway is part of your trip.
Do you then add them hours to your trip or take them away?

If my car breaks down when I stop at the crossing then yes this would be the end of my journey.

I think for the motorway scenario you speak of there is no doubt that the time spent should be taken into account. However mileage would remain unaffected.

Which gives rise to another question...............

Are we talking about how long mileage wise, or how long time wise?

My memory of most of the journey is pretty hazy, but I can clearly recall that the visit to the loo was not to drop a kid off at the pool / release an otter.

Is there any kudos for doing the longest trip/miles with out needing to pee or using old fluid containers?

What happens if your doing a trip and half way through that trip you break down and then get collected by the AA/RAC?
Does that still add to your trip is said recovery company takes you where you was orignaly going?

Does the counter stop as well for the length of time you broken and if you do carry on with said trip after being recovered, does the counter then carry on from that point?

what about coasting?

You run out fuel when your so close to erm....say a petrol station and you then coast (engine is off and free wheeling down a slight incline) towards a petrol station.
does that add time and miles to your trip counter or does it just end cause you ran out of fuel?
 
my longest was 1743 miles in 2 1/2 days i drove from San Francisco to Mt Vernon north of Seattle and back all because the company i worked for at the time couldnt send Methanol through the post but for the trip up in one go with 2 fuel stops and 1 pee stop was 871 miles. I then slept for the next two days and lost a days pay cos of not going to work cheeky F**KERS

If its longest time it took me 22 hours to do Leicester to Croyden and back. i Stopped at the hospital for 5 mins to drop of a laser for the surgeon to use the next day and the lazy sod didnt make the 5 mile drive in to use it to say i was pi55ed was an under statement. this was when we had that awful snow at the begining of the year
 
wow guys i didnt think this thread would last this long!
IMHO i think if u step out the car it shouldnt count, traffic and stopping at lights/zebra cross is ok. i do commend you guys for the long journeys though. i would have stopped if i was tired. the A1 was excellent road thoroughly recommend it the M1 is sh*te and will avoid where ever possible.

coming back different story 10.5 hours

Sittingbourne to Meribel, France - 650miles or so, 10 hours

Went via Eurotunnel (does that count as stopping??) then only stopped for Wee Breaks and fuel. Took significantly less time to get back as I was Medevac'd back to the UK after smashing my leg up Skiing!

35 Hours , Northampton to Izmir in Turkey, only stopped for Fuel, Food and a Pee,

Regularly do up to 4 1/2 hrs to get to work, then the same home again.
My house to Newquay whilst towing the caravan is 8 hrs, only stopping for fuel due to the fact i'm towing with a 1.8T.
Done Peterborough to Amsterdam a few times for pleasure and work.
