hey people, just fitted my bailey dv30. and...

its pretty much silent! lol i know im never going to have scooby tishhhh!

but, the standard DV was louder! (i know it was probably broken!)

i have a drilled airbox which does give it an audible tishh, i just thought it would be louder than standard?

anything i can do to make it more audible?

i know everyone is going to say n249 bypass but i cant for love nor money understand how to do it! lol

Lol. The n249 bypass is sooooo easy dude! You just need one 4mm ID pipe that goes from the inlet manifold to the top of the dump valve. Leave the n249 plugged in electronically and THAT'S IT! An open cone filter will make it louder. Does it have the right spring in it, is it actually dumping?

so... from the start (sorry for being dumb!)

cap of the vacuum pipe on the DV?

then im stuck... lol

i get the new 4mm pipe bit...

so i have now capped off the standard vac pipe into into dv...

i now have a new pipe coming from the top of the DV...

where do i put this too?
 
doesnt that go to an outlet on the inlet manifold fella,thinking of doing this mod myself so keep reading threads to get an understang of what im doing lol
 
right. sussed it! lol

from the top of the dumpvalve.. block the standard pipe.. (i used a bolt)

then run a new bit of pipe from the dumpvalve...

take the pipe off the fuel pressure regulator (black braided pipe)..

connect that to a 3 way T peice...

run a little bit of pipe from the T peice to the fuel pressure reg... so you should now have the T peice with one pipe going to the pressure reg, one going back to the inlet manifold (you can clearly see this when you look at it)

put the pipe from the DV into the T peice,

DONE! so you should have...

from the T peice..

- first goes to dumpvalve (recirc valve)

- second goes to the fuel pressure reg

- the third goes to the inlet manifold (that the pressure reg originaly plugged into)

then leave the rest! i havent bothered taking anything off.. i didnt do it for looks..

just the louder DV sound and performance!

hope this helps. i might take pics and make a guide!

i couldnt work it out myself after reading loads of guides..

so i may do an idiot proof one so even people like me can get it!

no no no.... Don't tee off the FPR for the DV... the small pipe that tee's next to the N249 is the one you want... blocking off the pipe to the DV from the N249 isn't the right way... run the 4mm I/D pipe stright from the bottom of the inlet mani where the original pipe starts... there are 2 small outlets just above the alternator... one goes to the FPR and the other to the N249/DV...

I have in the past suggested teeing from the FPR for boost gauges etc but the FPR vac hose should be a single run IMO as any pressure variation here affects the fuel pressure and thats something I prefer not to mess with as it could potentially make the engine run lean (extreme cases)...

just read that bout 20 times lol i think i get it..

the pipe i capped off (original fr the DV)

i need to unplug that the other end and run the DV straight to that? so effectly the pipe i blocked isnt joined either end?

the pipe going up the centre between injectors 2 and 3 is the pipe from the inlet mani to the N249... you can either pull that off the tee just above the N249 valve andextend it to the DV or just replace the whole thing... trace it back to where its connected to the inlet mani (left hand side under the inlet mani as you look into the engine bay).. there are 2 small outlets, one to the DV (the pipe in question) and one to the FPR...

Simples...

that layout is different to mine, but i will go have a look and see whats what on my engine and let you know how it goes. cheers for your help mate :)
 
right just had a look.. i THINK i have the pipe i need...

i followed the original pipe from the DV back to the N249...

before i start moving it all about i have a pic if you could just confirm please?

its where the red arrow is, the pipe the arrow actualy stops on..

yeah, looks right, the other pipe beside it probably goes to the vacuum reservoir
 
sweet.. so should i join that straght to the DV? or can i trace it further back to the inlet manifold.. that pipe looks alot bigger than what on y DV at the minute! lol
 
well....its already attached to the DV? the other end that isnt connected to the DV will be connected to the N249. Now you need to find the other pipe that runs from the N249 to the inlet manifold

I would find where the N249 connects to the inlet manifold first. Once you have found that you take your pressure line from the top of the DV (transparent tube??) and fit it to the connection on the inlet manifold where the original one was fitted
 
yes new DV was fitted today.. so basiclly.. the clear tubing needs to join to the pipe i labelled in the pic? and reconnect the other pipe to the FPR?

i hate german cars, never had all this pipe c**p on my other cars! lol
 
one last thing, do you have any idea roughly where the pipe from the n249 joins to the inlet manifold? there is a fair few pipes coming off it! lol
 
you shouldn't be playing with the FPR... leave it alone, dont touch it, put it back like it was

this is a schematic of your setup i think....you dont have secondary air injection? I may regret asking :)

OK, arrow #5 points to your DV
arrow #14 points to the connection on the inlet manifold where you N249 valve is connected too


Right.....take the pipe from the top of the DV at #5 and connect it to the connection at #14...done.

The rest of the N249 pipework (including the vacuum reservoir can all be removed and thrown in the bin because they are now bypassed i.e. not connected to any thing.

BUT... leave the N249 valve where it is with the electrical connection still attached...

right! i THINK i have good news!

under the inlet manifold..

there is a vacuum pipe (which i split!!!) anyway...

it goes into a T peice.. into the 2 pipes i labelled in the pic!! one to the DV, other to the stupid plastic box on coilpack 4!

i beleive thats where i need to put the the DV?

this is hopefully my last question! lol
 
that pipe is number 14 on the diagram you put up.. so im there!? lol
 
Dude I'm so sorry I coudnt reply to your pm sooner, ive been caked in oil on my own car today mate. Cookstein has it bang on above. Just one pipe, one complete pipe,from dv to inlet mani nipple, and thats it man. Easy as that. Take anything to the n249 off to tidy it up and your done.
 
mmmm.... im not sure. You need to get a picture. I am guessing you have removed the black metal plate that is in front of the inlet manifold to which the N249 pipe work is stuck?
 
no i havent removed anything.. im not doing it to clean i up... just for the gains of the bypass.. will go get a pic mate.

im 99percent sure its number 14 on the pic though...
 
well i know there are several pipes connected to the inlet manifold (N249 pipe, FPR pipe, brake servo pipe, PCV vacuum source), so need to make sure you've got the right one
 
its real hard to get a picture of as you can only see the pipe where it goes into the mani...

but, it comes out the inlet manifold.. into a T peice.. one of the pipes on the T peice goes into the N249 valve..

the other goes into the pipe that runs up the plastic box on the coilpack?

looking at it now makes sense.. im pretty sure this is what im after?

DV is #6 in the diagram, but see how the pipe from the top of the DV goes straight to the inlet manifold...
 
Not to be thick or hijack. What improvements does this give. Always said I'd keep standard as it's my misses's daily. But I'm starting to get the itch lol. Was thinking of starting off with a 007p. Is bypass the same as above?
 
i will do a guide now i fully understand! it really is simple.. IGNORE EVERYTHING I ASKED. it will confuse you lol

basicly, unplug the vac pipe on the inlet manifold next to the fuel pressure reg pipe (you can see it going to the reg as its short)

then run a pipe from that to the dumpvalve... DONE! lol

just remove any un needed pipework!

i will do a picture guide showing specificaly for our engines, sure it will help out!

smoother throttle, improved DV responce as theres less piping for the vacuum to go through!

i also heard the tractioncontrol is partly run by this? the ecu makes the n249 open to DV releasing pressure and dropping power..

plus, its made my dv30 dumpvalve ALOT louder! lol
 
im not sure if im going to bother removing the other pipes etc.. is there any gains? other than just the looks? im sure its not heavy etc?

seems alot of hasstle to take it off and trying to remember where bits go when its time to sell for no gains?

haha.
 
Sack it off, no point in it and it gets in the way of coilpacks. No point ever refitting, when and if you sell up just put the old dump valve back in place
