Well, I had my Haldex controler fitted yesterday...

Oh go on then...
Seen as somebody actualy posted on a thread i made ,
What a ****** of a job to do,
The diffrence though is well worth the effort ! hard acceleration feels more awd than front wheels only, Power mid corner or on exit is far better,
Wierd to say but the car seems flatter on exit of wide open roundabouts...
Well worth it

wot company did u get it from? and how much was it as i'm looking into getting one very soon!

I think I'll get one if the price is right. What exactly does it do? Does it just make it permanent 4wd with more power to the back like most 4wd's?

Frank,
This controler kind of fell into my lap quite cheap so it was an unplanned mod but one im very pleased with,
Andrew,
To be fair i just tried a few things in the car that used to let it down, Im looking forward to making a road trip to a little run i know and enjoy,
I also still have standard 17 inch wheels that im told will always hold the handeling back?

L4vis
As i understand it... the controler changes the flow control of the oil used in the rear diff set up,
So as to move more power to the rear and move it a little faster than the standard controler will,
The best way to describe it so far is MORE of a AWD feel than before , More confidence when its needed.

I had one on my last s3 and plan to get one on my latest s3, they make the world of difference in straight lines and cornering, unfortunatly i had to pay around 550 odd for mine off awesome gti. Power doesnt come cheap!

I was planning on anti roll bars instead but ive been talked into both now...
Its a mod that may come off the car to be honest... juggling money from time to time may mean it goes to make way for something more "needed" in life

i was looking at getting an sqs racing one.dose any one know much about these?? they seem to be alot cheaper than the awesome?? wots the difference between the two??

I can't really compare back to back as I fitted mine soon after I got it based on reports but the car sticks to the road very well. I was on a long sweeping slip/test road today and the car felt awesome. Very composed and I have standard suspension!

wot are you running sam???
s3 paul wot are you running??
frumpy_pigskin wot was the brand of the controller you were using
i'm just concerned that the massive difference if price will reflect in quality?

I want to get one but think they are too expensive, im just waiting for one to come up cheap on ebay. Last time i was at storm developments they had an s3 that had some sort of haldex controller from germany where they could change how much power went to the rear through a screen in the glovebox, pretty sure he said he gets them in for less than the ones from awesome gti and he seemed to have more control over what was going on.

Well when youve had enough of it paul ill happily take it off your hands :).

I dont think its a mod i will get bord of as it makes the car more complete. But as i said, a growing family and all puts a strain on my wallet.

i can flick the **** end of my car out relatively easy in the dry does this mean i have a uprated haldex?????
i bought a replacement diff and am now thinking it mite of had an uprated haldex bolted to it??????
are there any obvious ways of checking does it look any different to the standard haldex????

The blue haldex controler is....
Wait for it .......

Blue !
lol

I could get the back to "step out" but not using power. by turning in way too hard lifting then nailing it once the back was slipping.
With this controler fitted it feels like an actual AWD car so will "drift" a little but controlled in the sence that your still making forward progress rather than sliding towards a curb

I WANT ONE OF THEM????

The other controler mentioned ... i have no idea where that fits, Mine is a full replacement control unit. thats the only thing that looks any diffrent. im guessing the other unit sits inline maybe?

I will be doing soonish Ginge. Inbox me your number + i'll drop you a line when I know more...

Going for a major service in 3 weeks so I will be in contact after mine is swapped as I've got an upgraded one.

Not sure if its this thing or just the car itself but even with standard suspension I have yet to find the limit :) The car feels great.
