Yeh I guess it would be, I'm getting a cone in the tip group buy anyway thinking about it so I guess there's not much point.

Mine had the pedal done already luckily so touch wood it won't go again soon!

It's alright he did it to mine ;)

Got my new clutch pedal fitted last night which was a total slag of a job. Took the car out for a blast and she feels good.

Been on the phone to Awesome this morning to chase up my hub adapters. The fronts are now in stock but the rears are on back order with FK so I have to wait some more before I can fit my new wheels.

Car is going to 4Rings tonight.

Just got home after dropping of my car next time I drive her she will be a bit quicker ;)

My mechanic said to me, "what do you want to do if the exhaust mani is cracked and blowing". I told him to replace it if it needs replacing. He said a standard one from audi is around £300! This got me thinking that I might as well get a high flow mani if it needs replacing.

So what high flow exhaust manis do people recommend?

I have just sourced a pair of Porsche Boxster Brembo front calipers for a bargain £180! The plan is to rebuild and powder coat them and then get them on over my standard 312mm discs.

My only issue at present is finding some carriers. Awesome do a set but they are a rediculous price:

Awesome - Porsche brake mounting kit

I have been told that Boxster rear carriers will bolt onto the front calipers and fit the Audi over the 312mm discs but I can seem to find any of them anywhere either.

Well I'm back from a nice week in Cyprus but had some bad news on Wednesday regarding my turbo. I had sen it to Turbo Dynamics before leaving the country, for a refurb but I got a call on Wednesday explaining that it was beyond repair.

There were 3 major cracks, 1 of which went through the whole turbine housing an this had led to a lot of damage to the turbine wheel. The wastgate also had a big crack through it (which I think is the reason for the strange fluttering noise I've had since owning the car), so a replacement turbo was needed.

Here's some pics of the damage:

Now I was told that the damage was caused by severe heat which I have put down to the poor Chipped UK map I was running before the Revo one. The boost was turned up and my N75 was faulty so it overboosted plus the map was as lean as a runner bean! So boys and girls don't buy a cheap map if you can!

I should be getting my car back 1 day this week and it should feel like new with a brand new blower on it ;)

Oooooo not good. And I bet a dam sight more expensive than just a refurb. I can imagine the car will feel great when you get it. Welcome back.

Yeah its not cheap for a new turbo but it needs doing. I think the turbo has been an issue since the day I bought the car and it's just been getting worse, then finally finished off by a crap map.

Luckily the exaust mani wasn't cracked or that would have added another £300 to the bill!

I'll look after this new turbo and the B5 TIP should help it out a bit too ;)

Wowzas! Epic cracking.

As Karl says she'll feel awesome when you get her back

Good opportunity for an upgrade? ;)

Nah it doesn't really interest me. I'm aiming at a sorted standard K04. The guys that have gone hybrid and big power have spent a lot of money, they have other cars to drive and have been running into reliability issues and they are constantly upgrading other parts to strive for more power.

This progress thread is to try and capture everything leading up to a maxed K04 daily driver ;)

Hello matey back from hoilday....

Bet you can't wait to jump in the motor now. I think it's gonna be rapid.
Have you spoke to Mechy about when it's going to be ready?

Westle did you get a fault code showing up for your old dodgy xenon arm? Im getting one and my self leveling doesnt work so im wondering if a new arm would help!

No I didn't mate but the lights were very low. I think the code you have refers to the motor behind the xenon light. The lights do a self check when you turn them on, mine was doing that bit ok but because the arm was shagged it lowered the beams.

The arm fits to the front suspension beam and highers or lowers the beams depending on the load you have in the car, like if you had 3 fat birds on the back seat ;)

Or b*llocks, tbh i think your right, its says something about short left reading or something, ill get the code and post it in my thread tomorow.

Wouldnt know about having 3 fat birds in my car, im not into that type of thing, obviously you have quite a fettish for the plup variety of woman, lmfao.

I'll quote the guy from Turbo Dynamics,

"have you done a lot of track days? This is one of the most damaged turbos I've ever seen!"

The guy was surprised it was on a working car and boosting properly!

Fair play mate, that housing is F*cked. That's one for the bin - or you could keep it for posterity. Put it in a case with 'What not to do' written on it.

That's what is destined for my conrod! lol

I cant wait to get my car back now, looks like it'll be wednesday evening :racer:
