Mate.. Know how you feel, just bought my cab ready for summer and my PRNDS has started. Potential £1500 repair on a £8k car is a ***** . Going to take mine to a place in Milton Keynes. They seem to be a specialist . Don't read thread on pistonheads .... Might tip you over the edge;) good luck, keep us posted on progress
Hey mate sorry to hear that your in the same position as me but hopefully you can get your car fixed without paying to much. Update: I spoke to the mechanic on Friday and he told me to call him on Monday about lunch time and he will tell me exactly when im getting my car back so as soon as i know ill update the "Thread" with the new info.

I took mine to Inde tech in Bletchley . I do indeed need a new ECU for the gearbox. They also recommend an oil change. Approx £1200. Fortunately I have a warranty that will cover £1k of that. Just need to sort the logistics of getting car up there, me home etc

If you want a cheaper option take it to this garage and ask to speak to a man called Dave (the owner) they only charged me £950 and the car has been driving beautifully ever since.

Thanks ! I'll give him a call. My quote included about £130 for oil?

apparently the ecu is almost £750, then 5 hours labour @ £45/hr
Glad to hear yours is ok !

My car is back from Inde tech at Bletchley. Brand new ECU, oil change. Thick end of £1300...
Fortunately warranty company are paying £1000, so result.

Car is driving well, nice to turn on ignition without the flipping PRNDS flashing!
Had the RS4 rear ARB fitted whilst it was in, as two mechanics told me mine was worn :) well worth it, and a good value mod.

Car still running perfectly....

No judder, no hesitation - gears select ok.. PNRDS still flashing but only very intermittently. I think it is the transmission switch (F125) Implausible signal, and not the ECU - a cheaper fix (PHEW) - Saying that she goes on Tuesday to a new owner...

I had this on my B6, flashed up 6 months ago. But after changing the battery to the powerful Bosch type it never came back. maybe a coincidence but hasn't come back.

I'ts been over 4 months and i can't beleave you still haven't got it fixed yet...

Saying that she goes on Tuesday to a new owner...
Don't you feel guilty that your selling a broken car to somebody else? Be careful because sometimes Karma comes back and bites you straight in the ar$e.

Why did you delete your last post?

Its the new owner here rich did you forget to mention when i asked you about gearbox problems that you had been having them for months...........you have broken my wifes heart hope you are happy this is your chance to do the right thing before i take you to court you pay the cost of the switch and the matter ends..one un happy ripped off person

would you have a case in court if you bought the car privately ?
i thought if the car was bought privately that you wouldnt have a leg to stand on unless the car was in a dangerous state and the seller knew about it.

It's not very nice to sell a car on, which you KNOW is faulty in some way. It's even WORSE to be on the recieving end of the deal. Believe me, I know.

However, it has to be said, the buyer has a choice to buy privately or from a reputable garage. Some choose to buy privately. Why? Because they get the car cheaper. Why is it cheaper? Because the buyer gets non of the guarrantees that a dealer provides. The buyer knows this before hand. If the buyer makes a decision to 'takes the chance', then HE takes the chance.

It would appear in this case, that the seller lied to the buyer when he asked about the gearbox problems. That just makes things worse for BOTH of them. Now the seller has missled the buyer into paying for something they are not getting. If the lies can be proven (or simply persuade a judge that the seller lied), the buyer will have a GREAT chance of winning i court.

All in all, it's a sh*it thing to do to someone and I hope the seller either volunteers the repairs costs or cops for it it court.

You have my sympathy.

I'm not sure if this true or not, but I'm going to lock in for now to prevent things getting out of hand.
