I was just notified by my dealer that my A3 2.0 TSFI Quattro will be shifted into the 2012 model year, as most of the production as been diesel as of late. In his email he said "at least you will have an up to date car." I know there have been many renderings and thoughts as to when the new A3 body changes will come out, but I was wondering if anyone had any news as to what changes are coming or might be coming for the 2012 A3 hatchback.

Thanks

It's probably just the MY12 changes

I'm assuming so as well. The dealer doesn't have any new packages in the system. But he did inform me I can't get Scuba Blue, because they took it away..

Is he telling you that you will get the all new A3? Because there is no further facelift for the 8P3 waiting

Surely not. If you order a current A3 they surely couldn't just build you one of the all new A3s which nobody has even seen an official picture of yet. It just sounds like a salesman trying to put a positive slant on some **** news.

This tbh. lol

Hi guys, you'll have to forgive me but what is the different between a MY11 and MY12? Is it just the year built? I currently have an 08 plate A3 Sportback, would that make it a MY08? Will there be an differences between the MY08 and the Black Edition I have ordered due for delivery in October which I guess would be a MY11. Many thanks

They new A3 you have on order will be a MY12. Any car produced after 1 June 2011 will be MY2012. This is the date the factory changes from one Model Year to the next. In the case of the current A3 there are no changes between MY11 and MY12 apart from the fact there the new will not have any form of spare wheel. This was a change made around April 2011 because Audi were having problems sourcing space saver wheels.

The have probably been a some changes between the MY08 and the current MY12. If you send me a PM with your email address I can send you a Price and Spec Guide document in PDF format which you can compare with the current one available from the Audi UK website.

There was a facelift between 08 and 11, so there will be quite a bit different on the outside. There'll also be little changes inside, like update white DIS (if you have one fitted) and the AC buttons have different pictures on them.

And black inserts on the air vents.. Lol amongst many other tiny, very german details!

Interesting! When the A3 was first launched, it came without a spare wheel as standard (foam sealant and compressor kit instead) but you could opt to have a space saver wheel as a no-cost option. Obviously everyone did this as they changed it soon after so the wheel was standard. Seems they've come full circle now :)

I'm really interested to see any concrete info or release schedule for the all-new A3, which I believed was due next year some time. My current car is only on a two-year lease and will go back in December 2012 as I didn't want to be driving the "old" model for too long after the new one shows up.

I think you are right. About the only positive difference is that it will be the newer model year. Otherwise, I'm really saddened I can't get the color I wanted, I had my heart solely set on Scuba Blue. It would be beyond incredible if they somehow made some interior changes to the same body style, fingers crossed for sure.

Personally I've always disliked both the tyre sealant and space saver options. I've purchased from Audi some foam components that raise the luggage area floor and allow me to carry a full size steel wheel/tyre as a spare. I puchased a new steel wheel and tyre some years ago and have carried it in various ways over the years especially when I been going on a long journey on holiday. Trying to get a puncture fized in France on a Sunday morning would work out rather difficult and the thought of driving 400 miles across France at 50mph with a space saver just doesn't appeal.

In connection with the NEW A3 it may be released at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September or it may not be until the Geneva Show in March, so little or no production during the 2012 Model Year.
