Hi I'm looking for some help for a simple person !! I want to be able to change the remote locking on my car (Audi A3 8P - '57 Plate) to include a bleep when locked, this will save me going back & checking each time :-(

I've got a cable (off ebay, I Know !!) it all talks to the car correctly but still unable to activate the bleep. Is there any where I can find simple instructions for a simple person, or can somebody please describe how to do it correctly :-/

Cheers

Go to the central locking module and select coding.
The 'soft. coding' figure in the box needs to be increased by 1024 for beep locks, and another 32 for auto-locks at 15MPH.(i.e. if your figure is 14000, you change it to 15024 for beep, 15056 for beep and auto-lock)
I don't think the e-bay lead will access the coding block, although I may be wrong.
Make a note of the 'soft. coding' number when you access the module, so you can go back if it goes wrong

Module 46 - central convenience - Coding - Long coding helper - Byte 7 - tick bit 3 (locking confirmation (horn) via remote control.

By a ' real ' one off NHN and it makes life so easy !!!!

Oops, may be I should RTFQ!

Although, I'll reiterate what Mike says, get onto NHN (or Ross-Tech) for a real lead!

I think you can visit your dealer for this and ask him to avail this function in your car, but instead you can also go to the lock smith for this. They are the professionals and and will make your problem solved.

Dealer will charge £50 - £60 for the priviledge.

Lock smith will need to have VCDS (or similar) to enable it.

Cheaper to find a forum member local to you who will do it for you.

Does anyone know how to get a "biip" or "biip biip" on unlock, i drive A3 SB 2010 (8p3)

If it's the same as a 57 plate then you need a VCDS cable and then follow instructions in post #4 except tick bit 5 (or possibly different - I can't remember the actual one ) but the software will tell you !

That vehicle has a BCM so the tweaks here would apply:
Audi A3/S3 & A3 Cabriolet (8P/FM) Tweaks - Ross-Tech Wiki

The description is vague for Alarm, Locking and Coming Home > Alarm Confirmation via lights and horn because these are a combination of hardware/wiring and Coding/Adaptation. All of the common tweaks should be best documented using the current Beta release.

Ross-Tech: VCDS: Downloads: Current Release and Manual

I would also like a bleep when locked, i have a full version of vcds purchased from gendan currently running release 11.11,
Anyway i follow the vcds forum regularly, but really have problems doing anything but a scan.
I am intresting in learning more but without lending my cable to local forum members and learning from them it just gets used for fault code scanning.
So a big thanks to those who may help.

I drive a 2007 a4 3.0l tdi.

thanks johnK

Hi Paul - I stumbled across your reply which was exactly what I was looking for as I wanted to change this on my A3 8L.. I changed the soft code from: 15178 to 16202 as I didn't want the auto locks - just the beep. I've not got a beep when I arm the car.. is it also possible to get a beep/double beep when you disarm the car as well??.. :)
