Hii think my 1.8t a3 was made on a friday!! lol its only done 30000 miles but every month something new needs replacing!!

latest part to be replaced (today) was the hazard light switch stealers quoted £46.50!! i mean what i P!*S take how can they charge so much for a poxy switch!!
Im getting fed up with these silly prices im just glad im able to buy the parts and fix the problems myself, i cant imagine how much it costs some folks who take there failing machines!! to the garage to be sorted.
i got an original hazard switch from europarts for £33
maybe could of got one off ebay for £25 quid but i don't trust buying parts off ebay coz ive been sold used parts/broken parts that have been passed off as new before, which have turned out to be worse that the original!! for example i brought a dodgy diverter valve!! yet another part that needed replacing rant over!! :crying:

sounds like another person has been brain washed to pay the price just because? i wouldnt say an a3 was premium lol :haha: at the end of the day they are just an expensive golf with skoda parts. after all these part are all made from plastic regardless of car brand.

If that's the case, then shouldn't the thread title be 'VAG parts prices are a joke?'

Of course you did the right thing, and went to ECP to buy the part in the end.

yep you got a point! Vag parts prices are a joke lol!!

Its a shame that ecp cannot get fog grills lol .There prices are excellent

Have you tried TPS? It's a shame that VAGParts went down the pan due to poor exchange rates, they supplied me with an S3 fog grill in original Audi packaging cheaper than Audi could delivered!

End of the day, by going to a dealer you know that it's the exact part you wanted and that it will fit and if there is an issue with it you have probably more of a chance to take it back.

And as finesse and jojo said - premium car, premium prices; the A3 may not seem as premium as you'd expect but brand new 10-12 years ago the cars will have been around £20,000 (the original recipt for my car states £19,000) which in todays money is probably a few grand more and also bare in mind cars of similar size and such will have cost much less (just as they do today).

Buying pattern parts aren't always going to be 100% - as I found out when I bought my new bumper off eBay :)

There not cheap .Today I had the Same price off them as off Audi LOL

look im not trying to be difficult but anyone who know's a little bit about care electronics knows that a hazard switch relay is very simple and an inexpensive piece of kit, and is pretty much the same in any modern car despite the brand or how much the car is worth. its just plastic a few a wires and connectors a simple circuit and an led! lol!!
I really don't care about premium ive had cheaper branded cars in the past ie clio 182 which was cheap as chips with a better build quality than my new a3 thats just my opinion.
The point i think people have missed is paying near on £50 for a hazard light switch acceptable?

Why dont you make one then, surely that would be cheaper??

End of the day, thats the price it is, you might be able to save a few quid here or there and there are a few other places...eg ECP, GSF, TPS that can better the price and then its upto you on whether you want to go genuine or want an aftermarket part, if thats on offer for a few quid less.....

I do agree that it is a ridiculous price for a relay, but hey what you gonna do, if you need the part, you need it....simple as that.
