F1 Season 2011

Nice and mixed up top 10 there! Gonna be a cracking race tomo! A few of them are hungry for this win so going to be very interesting. Could see one or 2 safety cars.

Rosberg was ****** lucky to have just missed that barrier when he was looking straight at it! His would have been a much bigger accident than Perez!

2 horse race between Button and Vettel in my opinion. I doubt the drivers are going to make many overtakes on this circuit, even with DRS and KERS available, it's too risky and tight. we've seen in the past that the quicker car just can't get past easily, maybe just before the hairpin turn like Kobayashi last year, but still difficult.

Oh yea, on-track overtaking will be to a minimum. This'll be more to do with strategy. DRS won't do squat. KERS, I can see RedBull having more problems with it but even so getting past will be difficult. It's all to do with who's on what tyres and what phase they will be going through. Thats when the passes might happen, granted not as much as China or Turkey but hopefully more than previous years at Monaco! Lewis trying to come though should be entertaining!

yup best wishes to pirez, he was doing really well up until that point, especially in quali 1!

What a let down though, that was the battle EVERYONE wanted to see, Hamilton on form as per the rest of quali...... they could have chucked a couple of minutes on, case of body ruling the head for whoever made that decision methinks, from an entertainment perspective (which lets face it, is all F1 seems to be about) it was corporate suicide - idiots

I watched all practise session for this weekend and it looked like we was going to get to see an amazing qualy shootout.

Does nico like crashing in Monte, hes had a few crashes in Monte lol.

I hope its not a fast parade race tomorrow though, cant see DRS being that effective either.

Shame the Ferrari's had to rely on luck to out qualify him huh?

Shame he got a Drive Through for being a Dirty ****....
Shame he lost his rear wing......

So. Ramilton is on the F1 bbc Forum saying he has being investigated 5 out of 6 races and its because he is black... What a tool! Wondered when the race card was going to rear its head. ****!

Hamilton ****** me off massively that race.

Was a crap race as well, giving Red Bull the opportunity to change their tyres 4 laps before the end for free just took away all the fun. Alonso was about to nail Vettel. What a bummer!

Lets see you Ramilton fans defend this.

Furious Hamilton calls penalties “a joke”

A furious Lewis Hamilton criticised the stewards after being penalised during the Monaco Grand Prix for colliding with Felipe Massa.

Hamilton is also under investigation for a later collision with Pastor Maldonado.

Hamilton said afterwards: “Out of six races I’ve been to the stewards five times. It’s a joke. It’s an absolute fricking joke.

“You know you can’t overtake here. Very, very rarely do you get an opportunity.

“I was quite a lot quicker than Massa, I went up the inside and the guy just turned so early and just turned into me so I tried to go onto the kerb to avoid him, and we’re stuck together.

So it was just… and of course I get a penalty which is usual. He held me up in qualifying and I got the penalty. He turned into me, and I got the penalty.

“And I went up the inside of Maldonado and you can see on the screen he turned in a good car length too early to stop me from overtaking him and crashed into me. This stuff’s ridiculous.
These drivers are absolutely fricking ridiculous, it’s stupid."
Asked why he has had so many penalties he joked: “Maybe it’s because I’m black"

Those last 13 laps or so was ruined by the stupid safety car coming out, we was all on the edge of the seat for what was going to happen when Vettels tyres go away, and possible Alonso's, who know what would have happened?... great finale wasted!!

Not a good race for Hamilton also, but at the very least, he tried... can't defend him for his silly outburst after the race though.....

No shocker you dont make comment on his mouth jojo...soooo zzzzzzzz

BBC Sport's F1 commentator Martin Brundle said "The problem with Lewis is that it's always someone's fault,"

zzzzzzzzzzzz

Showing his true colours it seems.. Poor Lewser and now blaming his colour and saying stewards are racist....what a ****

Action packed or what.

It was Alonsos race though, he would have had Vettel if the crash didn't happen near the end, Button I don't think would have done much, he hasn't got the balls.

Hamilton my god, shocking performance, seems to be waving that hand all the time now at someone even though he is in the wrong.

Wish kobayashi could of held of Webber though.

But it's never good enough for you is it?

The problem is, this is a thread that YOU started, which you named 'F1 Season 2011', but you only ever come on to post about 'ramilton' when it goes pear shape for him, and maybe if Ferrari get a sniff of hope, you turn up. lol

Talk about F1 for gods sake!!

20 second penalty for Ramilton

3 in one weekend, legend!!

If he continues along this path he will be racing in last year's season and not the present. He will have gone back in time!!!

Reptor, what is your problem with Lewis Hamilton? Seriously? Every slip up he makes and your posting Ramilton ****, thinking your being so clever when really your making your self look like a racist **** yourself. You say you left because you got fed up with animal and you fail to notice that your the one writting inflamatory posts stirring the pot of **** constantly. Since you left this thread has been perfectly civil and as soon as you decide to pop your tiny ****ing head round the door it turns into a Hamilton/Macalren bashing thread. Its ironic how this is the only race that Ferrari looked like they were in a good position to get a win and here you are waving your ferrari flag sig.

IMO Button was tee'd up to steal the lead with both Vettels and Alonso's tyres due to fall off the edge. Alonso was missing some of the apex's just before the pile up and its ridiculous that you are allowed to work on the car without the time penalty that a pit stop would result in. I think Vettel should have looked a bit more sheepish standing on that podium than he did...

Although i didnt stay for the interviews, maybe he acknowledged his luck?

Anyone not happy with posts please report them,we all have different views so lets try and keep it a bit civil

IMO it was pointless to restart the race after it was red-flagged. Without changing tires it would make sense. Screwed up all race.

I laughed when Hamilton commented about being black but ****** me off when he started saying that other drivers are guilty when he
clearly did make mistakes today.

ooh, I missed the black comment! I think that's the result of a frustrating qualifying/race and he's gonna regret that comment. It wasn't his best weekend with those desperate lunges that were never going to work but i'm sure he will analyse weekend when he's calmed down & learn from it.

Race was great, shame about safety car at the end though.

They shouldn't have been allowed to make any changes to the cars during the restart at Monaco. Vettel getting new tyres at that point in the race is pure luck - I love the F1 but that's a joke. May aswell have just stopped the race!

I think we've ascertained the 'kid' is a glory hunter matey :)

I thought it was a great race which kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole 2 hours.

On the Hamilton situation, admittedily he made some rather 'aggressive' moves, but to a certain extent I agree with what he said......both other drivers cut across him at the last minute. I think it takes two drivers to make an overtake, even more so at Monaco, this is demonstrated perfectly when Schumacher overtook Hamilton on the first lap and when Hamilton overtook Schumacher later on at the first corner.

Both drivers in both situations performed a move that was justifiable and both drivers made life hard but avoided an accident......I have often heard the commentators say how a lot of the top drivers 'trust' each other in these situations and I think this trust should be 'learnt' further down the field.

I think Hamilton overall though lost his head during the race and his Black comment after was stupid in the extreme ......he will regret that one I think and I hope he apologises and retracts it !!

Was so annoyed with the red flag situation, red bull got very lucky this weekend, decided that monaco is a great GP but a crap race. Hamilton needs a bit more self control at times although one of those accidents wasnt 100% his fault the one where massa hit webber 1st.

i agree with most of the comments above.... obviously neglecting certain 'Carl Pilkington' style statements.

For me I watch F1 nowadays because of Hamilton, by and large F1 is a corporate sport as opposed to out and out fair racing in my mind. Hamiltons comments were very silly and that will have cost him some respect now and in the future from his fan base, and will no doubt make the haters even more angry. I do however hope that they do not make him into yet 'another' driver, his style intrigues me, makes me want to watch the racing because he makes it soo exciting - for me nobody else out there has that attack in them, sure some come close, but for me they are just not there in terms of out n out 'balls'

If these cars all operated exactly the same, my money would be on Hamilton all day long - He's beaten the supposed best (Alonso) in the same car, beaten Button in the same car...i fear the same fate for anyone joining the same team as him.

just my opinion of course

decided that monaco is a great GP but a crap race.

What? I don't think we were watching the same race because I thought it was a brilliant race! Right up until the red flag of course... I can see them changing the rule about being allowed to change tyres after a red flag. Had it been on the old Bridgestones, it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference because they were so durable. The rule needs updating for the new Pirellis.

Hamilton needs a bit more self control at times although one of those accidents wasnt 100% his fault the one where massa hit webber 1st.

I think that was his fault too. He just lunged down the inside on a gap that was always going to close in on him. He was too far behind. The only thing that wasn't Lewis' fault was Massa crashing. We didn't see the run up to the tunnel, but you can assume that Hamilton got a better exit before the tunnel and was on the inside of Massa. So Massa should have lifted off to avoid going on the marbles. He should have known that there is only one ending to going wide in the tunnel!

I like Lewis and his driving style too. But on his comments afterwards... that's all heat of the moment. It wasn't right to say but still. Having said that, I like the way Hamilton is and how he wears his emotions on his sleeve. It's what gives him his character and I think also infuences the way he is on track. Some drivers out there are robots when it comes to interviews. Very PC. Don't like that, althought I understand why they are like that. It's nice to see a bit of human emotion every once in a while. I love the fact that if he has even a sniff of a chance at overtaking, he'll go for it. Sometimes it doesn't work out, and sometimes it does. For everytime he's run into someone (not happened very often at all), there's a brilliant move where he makes a blinding pass - and then some!

I see it from his perspective. Quick all the way through free practice, first in Q1 and Q2, and because of a team decision to have one run in Q3, it cought him out with the accident. He knew he had a great chance for a win and make up ground on Vettel. So when things went south for him he got frustrated and it was clear on track. He lost his patience and wanted to get past people there and then. Hence his scrappy race! All the incidents were his fault, no doubt.

On Red Bull, I just love the way they are at the races! Not like any other team. Reminds me like the olden days when you had people cocking about and having a good time. Enjoying the moment! What makes it better with Red Bull is they are a high profile team, winning championships, and they STILL joke around, blasting music out of their garages and partying hard! Don't see that with any other team.

Although to change it mid season would be completely farfetch'd as that then gives a complete disadvantage to anyone else it could happen to later in the season.

That's got nothing to do with it. They've already done loads of tweaks to the rule book this year. You could argue that Button was disadvantaged when they were allowed to change tyres. An extreme case of changing rules mid season is the blown diffuser. They were going to ban it overnight before the Spanish GP but because Red Bull/Renault had a couple of 'concerns' with it, the FIA gave them time to overcome their problems and it will be banned before Silverstone.

Little tweaks like not changing tyres during a red flag won't make any difference to the teams so I can see it happening soon. There's been too many upset fans for the FIA not to take it into account.

Agree that this year was better than any recent one, but its still very hard to overtake and when drivers try it normally ends with a crash as we saw, ok a few pass's were made but not many. prime example is the fact that button was seconds quicker than vettel and alonso on his final stint before the red flag, but even with the extra pace he could not pass where as other gp this year an advantage like that would mean overtaking, the spanish gp proved this which is normally a very boring race.

Im not saying its not hamiltons fault but massa hit webber first as webber had gone wide and turned in on massa who had also left a gap which hamilton saw as an opportunity.

Bahrain 2011 reinstated, as India becomes season finale

The 2011 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix will take place on October 30, the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) announced on Friday. The 2011 Formula 1 Grand Prix of India, which had been scheduled for that date, will now become the season finale combined with the FIA Annual General Assembly and Prize-Giving Gala.

I'd be suprised if Bahrain still goes ahead. Everyone is up in arms about it.

you know what Bernie's like though, the old fossil...... he'll maintain the stance just because he can

Just to add my 2p worth.
Was shaping up for a potential climatic end until that stupid situation with the Red flags and working on the cars, they should only be allowed to do the basics to ensure that the cars don't overheat and put the heat blankets on the tyres - that should be it.

Hamilton does sometime have outbursts - but at least he is venting his feelings at the time (wears his heart on his sleeve) - which can make for a decent F1 Forum post race. The other thing is at least he does try to overtake - though sometimes he comes somewhat un-stuck - IMHO those overtake moves were bound to end in disaster in this case. The black incident was meant as a joke - but not ideal really as that kind of statement can be taken out of context too easily.

Met him a few times (FoS and BTCC at Thruxton) and he does make time for his fans and does seem like a genuine guy.

Anyway roll on Canada this weekend :arco: and may the best man win - LOL
Paul

Just thought I would add that I went to see the documentary 'Senna' last night.

In my view a must see for all F1 fans......great to see all the all old footage and some really interesting behind the scene's bits as well. Wish we could have that kind of access nowdays !!

The Prost/Senna battle was epic at a time when drivers comments were virtually uncensored.......makes what Hamilton said after the Monaco GP seem pretty tame.

Go see it :icon_thumright:

yeah ive seen snips of that and the documentary on Senna..... that man was legendary, yet never won anywhere near what he should have, didnt stop him from becoming a legend though

sadly we won't see anyone like that again, because there are just too many rules and driver aids!! Hamilton for me is as close to that type of driver out there IMO
