Sandips (strange) build thread

Chipwizards are going to be my point of call when I get a remap. Not the cheapest but one of the best :)

True! Wayne's also a Revo dealer and could of quite easily put stage 2 on, glad he checked everything over and is starting from scratch, plenty more yet to come, 6/7 more precious psi's left to play with:yes:

Its not the best service by the sounds of it by superchips

Good luck with it all mate, hope you sort your power problems out.

Car looked the nuts at elsecar!!

Thanks Mush, didn't know your were at Elsecar lol I reckon once the fuel pump and 4bar fpr are in i'll be good to go, i'll probably end up maxing out the injectors lol

Before Wayne started the map he gave the car a hard run on the dyno to see what kinda egts i was getting, the exhaust manifold was glowing like the sun:racer: but after a few goes the hottest we could get the egt's was 880oC. Should it get hotter??

IIRC k04s can push right up to 900-950 C when pushed hard to get to their 260bhp levels. Maybe yours arent that bad as yours allows better flow, or then it may simply be because your not pushing big power levels yet. Either way 880 C is relatively safe atm

if its not running much more than a bar of boost the egt's would'nt (should'nt) get to the 920 egt protection trip.. but that is also dependant on the loads applied by the dyno. hold it loaded and it will. what gear does wayne test in.. (I think its 3rd from what I read others use... which is not a lot of load on acceleration runs, so not as hot as it would be in say 6th wot from 3krpm for example)

std fueling on 0.95 under wot will cause higher egt's and in turn higher cf's than more appropriate fueling.

sounds like you will finally get a map which suits the car.

Yes Bill, finally getting a map that suits the car:)

All the mapping was done in 6th gear and from what i know he tried his best on the standard map to get egt as hot as possible, he was trying to get it to trip to dump fuel but highest temp we saw was 880oC. Will be going back as soon as the new pump is in. Got a feeling that i'm going to end up maxing out the injectors

Yeah i checked the FPR a few days ago and it was clean, no blockages or anything, i haven't logged 032 myself but Wayne was keeping it around 12.5 but at 16psi on boost at around 5k it started losing fuel pressure. Got the fuel pump today, ECP gave me the wrong one first, think it was for an A3, took mine off and the ****** thing was totally different, rang them up, gave them the part number and luckily they had one in stock.

Does this look right??

Hi Sandip,

That's the right pump dude, just replaced mine and it made a big difference.

Regards
James

Quick update, the new pump was put in on Saturday, seems a lot quieter than the old one!

Also removed the oil breather pipe going into the t.i.p and it's now vented to atmosphere, i've routed it underneath the car, so far i've had no nasty oily odours coming into the cabin. Took it out for a blast after doing this yesterday and the red chargepipe to turbo popped off once again, it's been a pain since the day i bought it (Forge hose), so the oem hose went back on, will see how long this lasts......

Will try and post some pictures of the breather later

I'd like to see where you've vented the breather mate. I looked into venting mine under the car cut didn't like the thought of the hose and breather going down close to the drive shaft.

I looked at putting it down near the driveshaft but put me off for the same reason, mine's actually near the driverside intercooler, will post some photo's up later Westle

what clips are being used to hold it?
they can sometimes be too long I have seen, and unless pushed over the turbo's outlet will sit too tall, which when the chaerge pipe is clamped down, will kink the hose on the bend, reducing its internal surface area=bad

will see how the car pulls on wednesday sandip im aiming for 240bhp so can judge of yours how much difference it will make think i will be going to see wayne next month or month after to look at a map

It's ******** beyond repair Bill, i've tried a few different type of clips but they kept slipping off, it's the turbo end what was giving me the bother because a jubilee had dug into the hose in a funny way and everytime i tried to tighten it up it kept dropping into the groove

i can see me and phil beeing pulled over especially if there are bikes about lol soon as phil goes im off behind him like a flying bee :whip:

this convoy will either be good and organsied or a mess with people flying down the motorway chasing one another.

as its a l8 meet up at stockport before we head down to buxton i can see it beeing a fly down convoy

Bunged up the TIP and vented straight to atmosphere, going to have to make a catch can though as it get a little smokey when i'm stationary lol

I've put the breather hose back into the t.i.p today, defo need a catch can when it comes to oil breathers.....

Whilst doing this i noticed that my vac line was leaking on the FPR so i've changed that so it has it own line that is now connected to the nipple underneath the inlet manifold, once the line was sorted a tightened up some of the pcv connections under the mani and gave things a quick wipe....

Now this is all i have done but my car has now got more of a chatter, my car has never had chatter in the 5yrs of me owning it

chatter, did someone say chatter, sell up and hide under you bed sandip lol.

Will be doing some vag com logs on Friday night (10/6/11)

Mutantfatcat (Lee) will be letting us use his Vag Com like we did last time when we met near Awesome, i'll be logging mine anyway but if anybody wants to do get some blocks checked and do some logs then you're more than welcome to pop by :)

Good luck mate, hope you get to the bottom of some of your strange running issues.

Thanks bud, i gave it some stick lastnight and no hoses popped off and the chatter issue is the dv i think, at full boost (16psi) it does the normal woosh but flutters on part throttle, i'll try another dv to see what difference if makes :)

I really want to see what my a/f ratio is now at the top end

Where and when you doing the logs Sandip? I may pop down and see ya.

My car has an odd bog down of power as I accelerate after changing into second from time to time.

It'll be at Awesome for around 19:00ish, No harm in doing some logs bud but i reckon yours won't flag up any major concerns :)

Will be there dude :D will drop you a text during tomorrow just to double check. :)

whos that handsome swine in the brown poloshirt, that black edition 8p ibis white is nearly as cool:whistle2::whistle2:
