Fault codes on New K Module ..Help ?

Yes, O/S rear is correct side for fog light in UK, a German version off ebay.de will be on the N/S as they drive on the right hand side of the road. Is the CE module coded for UK? Isnt there an option for that? Will check when laptop is charged enough LOL

show a dump of byte 4
Byte 04 Bit 4 Activation of both Rear Fog Lights
Byte 04 Bit 5 Model (0 = Right Hand Drive / 1 = Left Hand Drive)
Byte 04 Bit 6 Rear Fog Lights deactivated

byte 4 looks correct from the earlier long code but just check it and recheck byte 03 as well and change for one fog one reverse

This is the switch turned on with rear fog....as you can see the switch works...

switchkv.jpg

I don't understand what you mean by doing a dump on byte 4:uhm:

also I've done a screen shot of the bytes it's currently on at the moment.

byte4.jpg

byte.jpg

Me and RS also found out what was wrong with the interior light......as it was due to a relay in the wrong position. So one solved and 2 more to go....

change byte 3 for one reverse and one fog

you may have to alter the bits instead of the check box

so bit 1 and bit 2 need changing to activate one rear fog and one rear reverse

remember every time you change and save with vcds you must turn the ignition off and back on the turn the fig on and see if it works

screen dump mark 5 golf

golf 09 by a8 tech, on Flickr

osr fog nsr reverse

SO SET BIT CODE 00000110

did you move the relay position 8 to the 30 supply position 9

you are missing a 15 supply relay from position 1

if you do not need the 15 relay uncheck the box in byte 3 and try that

looking back at your old relay positions

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/new-a3...380-central-electrics-module-relays-help.html

move the relay 460 to position 1 of the new relay carrier but I would think you need both relays

anyway try some of this lot

found the long code helper/simulator

go to c drive find ross tech and open it

scroll down till you find Lcode exe

open it and all your long code files will be there

you can now simulate code changes without being connected to the car

I've Just coded it to exactly what you stated below..and unchecked relay 15...Still no change..:banghead:

My bit code is now : 00000110

Yes... I moved the relay position 8 to the 30 supply position 9 ....And the interior lights started to work..

I tried to move relay 460 to position 1 of the new relay carrier but it was too hard to take out so I left it in there.....But I was looking at the back position of where the 460 relay slots into on the left..side of the module..and there is no current connector with wires going out in place...but on the right side where the other 460 relay is there is a connector with wires going out.

I was wondering if there would be a point of getting another 460 relay and slotting it in as there is no connectors going out the back of it.

God knows whats going on with this. All I can say if your mate has done the same upgrade and the cars are the same year and spec then compare the coding and the check if the relay 460 is fitted.
Its hard to work out what should be doing what without having the car in front of me to check the wiring.
Iam sure if I had the car I would sort it out.

Stick a new scan of the faults up and post your exact vehicle details ie 8p 3 door low line none auto lights engine code etc

I have fitted a k before without any problems for xenon upgrade but cant find the vcds log

We need to see address 09 long code for other 3 door vehicles with K fitted and nsr reverse osr fog

Just wondering if there is some difference with the rear light units or light switch as output test with vcds shows the osr fog works but does it out the nsr reverse on as well

It something simple that's causing it

So presently if you select reverse or turn on the rear fogs nothing happens.

I would stick a multimeter in the pins and select output test for fog light and see which pin becomes active when it works and then post it up so we can trace the wiring back to j519

When you checked measured value blocks it shows the fog light on

Other things to mess with, try coding for both rear fogs or select the BACK TO STANDARD BUTTON in long coding and see what happens

The Relay 460 is fitted in RS's Module.....on both sides. I'm going to order another 460 relay tomorrow.

Here is a full vag-com scan.

The strange thing now is the reverse light works when I put it into reverse....since we moved that 449 relay. But errors are still coming up on the DIS. Also rear Fog don't work when switched on with light switch.

I'll try the coding for both rear fogs or select the BACK TO STANDARD BUTTON in long coding and see what happens......

relay 460 missing seems to be the simple solution

you could bridge across the contacts for the primary to secondary side as if there was a relay fitted to test the fog or just get the relay lol

I'll get the relay ...on Tuesday..And I'll keep you informed ....

Thanks for your help....:salute:

The joys of amateur retrofits ay digzz, lol :p

Ok Sorted out a couple of things ...bit still having some small issues.

I installed the relay 460 yesterday....and the Reverse Light bulb fault hasn't come up since...:o.k:

I'm still getting issues with this Left Fog light thing coming up in Vag-com and the DIS. But now it acts very different then before.

When I pull the switch out to turn on the rear fogs on...it comes up with the same error and the fog light do not work. Then the error keeps on coming up on the DIS & Vag-com , It's not until I clear the error.... it don't come up when I turn the ignition any more or Vag-com. But soon as I turn the Rear fog light switch on again ....it starts all over with the error.

Auto-Lights & Mirror Dimmer - Don't work at all.

I'm also trying to get this to work but I'm having a few issues. Comes up with the Below Error:

This is the Menu I tick in Vag-COM .....even thou I don't have the rain sensors do you still think I should still tick this box ?

what headlight switch you using? I take it you have a later version that supports DRLs? If I try my switch with DRL onto my older non rev CE module my fog lights dont work.

8J2941531E comes up for the TT but can use in are cars ...as NHN Stated in a Thread. Also same as RS.

Do you mean anti dazzle interior mirror, and have you retro fitted this mirror, check the fuse
Check the fogs work with out put test and are the rear lights the correct lights or retro fits
Your lin bus fault is because you do not have rain and light sensor so have you retro fitted auto lights and modified the wiring

This is the switch turned on with rear fog....as you can see the switch works...

I don't understand what you mean by doing a dump on byte 4:uhm:

also I've done a screen shot of the bytes it's currently on at the moment.

Me and RS also found out what was wrong with the interior light......as it was due to a relay in the wrong position. So one solved and 2 more to go....

ok now I have my log for 2007 3 door a3 retro xenon change byte 3 to 00100111

so

bit 0 tick
bit 1 tick
bit 2 tick
bit 5 tick

try that

Yes...I'm talking about the dazzle interior mirror not working. no this is not a retro fit...as this was already installed when I bought the car. Yes the rear lights are correct ...Just upgraded to the new rear lights on the 3 door ....and I know they don't need coding...as everybody on here ain't had a problem.. The 1 fog rear does work as I've done a out put test before.

I've Just used the above code and the problems have been solved...:arco::yahoo:

Thank you very much "a8 tech"

Now I just need to sort out the Auto Lights and the dazzle interior mirror. :uhm:

auto lights and dazzle mirror are on the same circuit so

auto light switch can be checked in measured value block 17 in address 09

2004 wiring auto light sensor anti dazzle mirror

j519 t16a/11 to pin 3 of the light sensor

j519 t12/c3 to light sensor pin 1 (this also picks up the light switch)

light sensor pin 2 to earth

pins 4 and 5 of the light sensor go to the door control units for anti dazzle wing mirrors

2007

pin1 of the light sensor goes to fuse sc4 ignition 15 supply
pin 2 of the sensor goes to earth
pin 3 goes to j519 t12c/1
pins 4&5 goes to the doors again

so pin 1 needs a 15 supply

and pin 3 needs picking up at t16a/11 (i suspect this is a signal)

so in theory just give pin 1 a live to test it works

if it does then find a 15 supply and tap into it via a 5amp in line fuse as you are using 2004 wiring and fuse allocations with the newer central electrics so sc4 fuse will not be valid for your wiring

or tap into the original headlight switch t6/4 for pin 1 of the interior mirror/light sensor

So is the wiring different because of my module ?

yes and because of the vehicle build date

I'm basing the wiring from a 2004 and 2007 as K is around 2007 ish

the mirror and sensor really only need 3 things to work.Earth live (ignition live) and signal input

2004 interior mirror was powered from the light switch and 2007 powered via a fused 15 supply

as its a retro fit with added parts then you have to mess around a bit to get things to work as they should, this makes it hard to refer to vehicle specific wiring

you could re wire to the mirror pins at j519 for correct designation if you wish

now all the main stuff is working this should be easy lol

Finally upgraded my A rev to a K rev CE module today having fitted bi-xenons a while back. Having never had xenons originally and K not being a direct replacement for A, I wasnt sure what else apart from coding would need to be done. Turns out on an A, the main beam wires go to where the DRLs and vice versa to that of the K. A bit of rewiring & coding and one more part of the upgrade done. Weekend will see the DRLs wired too :)

This will leave the job of getting the chrome facelift light with DRL switch working too.

just leave 2 questions:

byte 8, bit 2 - interlock display via CAN-instrments active

and

byte 23, bit 2 - internal turn light control algorithm active

anybody know what they are for?
