Hi All

Just wanted to canvas peoples opinions on if ordering a new Black Edition is a good idea?

Or is waiting for the new model a better option (whenever that might be)?

Cheers
Neil.

do it i love the B.E , not sure when the new model is coming out maybe 2012 i think if you can wait that long do that otherwise get a B.E

Get a black edition depending on waiting time. When then new model comes out they won't have any nice models for ages will be S, SE or Sport to start out with no sign of Sline, black edition or S3 to start off with I wouldn't have thought well maybe Sline actually.

I know even if i order one now it will be a 6+ Months wait and brings the new model even closer. But the B.E. is so damn nice and there won't be any special editions of the new model around for sometime i would expect.

You beat me to it

Do itttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

6 months will fly.

For me it would depend on how long I planned to keep it. More than 3 or 4 years and i'd possibly wait.

I heard the new model is due to be revealed at Geneva next year so it could be 2013 before you actually get one. I also don't think the new model will be too radically different. Just look at the styling of the current models that still have a bit of time left on their life cycle and you'll see what I mean. The new A3 will be in keeping with the house style and the current model still looks up to date with most of them.

wait for new model. it will be very different, new chassis, possibly lighter, better materials, more standard kit.

basically it will be a huge step forward from the 8p. there will be no comparison

I ordered my black edition at the start of February and have just got a delivery date for the middle of June :) The 6 months nearly have flown by... Definitely get the black edition!!!! I cant wait for mine :)

Ordering mine very soon. The way I look at it is that the new S3 or any hot model is not going to be out for at least a year after the model is released. And also if you did want to buy anything exciting, none of the models at release are going to be any good IMO

BE will be sought after IMO and especially last of the line

Thanks all for the opions so far and i'm tending to agree that it will be a while before anything 'special' will be around on the new model and there are still no definite dates on when that will be.

As is the case with 'boys and thier toys' waiting for them is a real pain in the backside and 6 months is better that 18months + ... at least i can carry on enjoying my 2.0T whilst i wait for the new one to arrive

Think that's decision made.
Neil.

What spec you going to go for?

Sportbacks are slightly quicker than the hatchback atm.

I ordered a black edition S3 yesterday, and there is a 20 week wait on these

I too was wondering whether to wait for the facelift, but the dealer said it could be up to 18 months before the S3 is released in the new range, then there could be a 4 month wait on build.

I decided if I order one now by the time the new one has come out and it's been released long enough for teething faults to have been resolved there may be some discounts about (I got 0% discount on my last S3 as I ordered it before they were released so had no movement in price as they just wouldn't discount pre-release vehicle).

I got 7.5% on this one, so although it's higher spec than the last I got it cheaper! I'll have nearly had my three years in the new one by the time the next one is released so I'd recommend it may be worth it.

Roll on October....

To be honest the B.E is going to have a hell of a lot more kit than a standard new shape A3. The reason for this being they're shifting out all the old stock to make room for all the new options it will have.

If i was going to buy brand new i would have got the B.E purely because of all the kit it has standard. If you get one it will still be fresh at least 2 years into the new shape A3.

This seems to be the general opinion and sounds good to me :)

@warrencox
bet you can't wait for that to arrive, sounds very nice.

Just waiting for the quote to come through online now...

Just had my order confirmation today (23/5/11) on my BE a3 Hat, got a delivery date of 4/11/11. Love this car but a long wait...hope its worth it!

I have had my new SB BE 170 S-tronic for 2 months now after an 8 month wait and trust me it will defitinely be worth the wait.

You won't be dissappointed with a Black Edition mate, especially in Ibis White, but then again, I would say that :p Good luck!

Finally got my quote but only managed just over 8% discount.

Is that about normal?

I was hoping for more like 10%

Hi
I've just ordered a BE through drivethedeal.com and saved 10.5%. It's all done through Audi dealership and I've managed to do the finance with Audi too. You could get a quote with dtd and ask your local Audi dealer to match it?
Hope this helps

The quote i have is also through an online company www.car-finance.net but even though the discount ain't so good they do a good rate on the finance - 8.9%

What sort of rate have you managed to get?

Hello Neil,
Audi gave me a rate of 10.7% not really the best. At the time DTD offered me 9.8% but for some reason they have increased it to 10.87%. DTD for some reason inflated the future value of the car by £700 by doing this there payments would have work out £24 cheaper PM than Audi.
Just to make another point my local Audi dealership (Cardiff) wanted £2200 more for the car and an extra £500 deposit they also quoted a APR of 12%.
All together I’ve managed to add around £2500 worth of extras on and still keep the car below Audi's suggested retail price of £24.150. I think i made a saving of around £3000 compared to Cardiff Audi

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I'm in a similar position, by getting a better finance deal it balances everything out and the overall cost is much better than anything Audi can offer :sm4:
