Hi guys,

So my 3M Carbon wrap turned up today so i thought why not give it a go and do the interior trims. I have never wrapped anything before (apart from presents), So i got my sisters hair dryer and my trusty Magnusson standing knife and got to work. Now ihave been told patience is the key here... and be warned of burning the finger tips.
I took my time and after a couple hours my piano black trims looked like this:

It was too dark by the time i finished so i will get some day time shots of it in the car tomorrow.

I did have the thought of wrapping the air vents but i don't think the carbon stuff i have will stick to the vents properly. now im thinking of doing the interior console light (front and rear ones) but i cannot see much in the dark so might attempt to get them out tomorrow.
after finding nothing else to wrap in the car i came back to my room and after about half hour i ended up with this

never really was a big fan of carbon but this stuff actually looks nice...
for anyone else wanting to do stuff like this here is what i bought: CARBON FIBRE BLACK WRAPPING VINYL SHEET 1500MM X 500MM on eBay (end time 15-May-11 11:40:06 BST)

looks good man , from what i can remember when i did mine the ashtray was the hardest to do because of the curves in it , good job tho

Looks good man. Was it easy to take the ashtray covers etc off?

I fancy doing this but not sure It would suit my cream interior!??

Hahaaa!! :lmfao: so wrapping is addictive then ay!!

Nice job mate, laptop looks pretty sweet as well. I need to get this done as my piano black is looking a bit tatty few scratches n that... Nice job though and cheers for the link.

The HP Lappy looks a bit tacky thou....might I say.......Was it the highest quality wrap?

That is nice work. I watched a programme just last night where they carbon wrapped a lotus and was interesting to say the least. Very time consuming, but the results were amazing. Personally i like the brushed aluminium look, but that is tidy. I love the laptop though.

Looking good mate, I might do my door strips with some carbon

I wanted to do this a while back but have no patience. Looks good lets see what it looks like when its in!

Honestly, i think carbon would suit any interior... its just that kind of material

Ashtray cover canbe taken off by opening the ash tray, then pulling up the gear surround piece (just clips in) then there are 2 torx screws that hold down the ash tray and the clips for the gear surround, unscrew these and lift the whole ash tray up. once you have it you need a flat head screw driver to unclip the back of the ashtray cover off the actual ashtray (4 little tabs) take your time here so you dont break the tabs. it will come free from the ashtray and once done it just clips back onto place.

thanks bro, yh it definately makes a massive difference on the interior! makes it look so much more clean and better to look at, im still amazed at how much of a transformation it makes in the cabin.
and yes its addictive!

honestly i dont think it was the highest quality stuff. but now that i have finished it still looks sweet in person. I only did the laptop cos i was addicted to getting my finger tips burnt and wanted to wrap something else. also it covers up the odd scratch i have on the case of it. im on this same laptop now as im typing this and tbh i cant even see the wrap as its just on the top case, but it doesnt look that bad! maybe you should try it out :p

Thanks Sandra, i have seen a car being wrapped first hand... now those guys have serious patience and skill! wouldnt want to do that myself.

Update:

so i went ahead and started doing the cabin roof lights. have to say this has been the most tedious of tasks especially with all the small grills that needs to be cut out. i think it looks awesome! and well worth the trouble.

I have to say this is the best cheapest mod i have don yet! all of that carbon wrap for only £12! and i still have enough left to do at least another 2 sets of it!

Think roof lights was definitely one step to far, doesnt look right at all, although good job with no creases.

im considering doing the back of the front seats as well :p
but thats going to take ages! still in 2 in minds at the moment

I can't decided if I like the lights or not.

I thought I'd throw this one out there as well....

i dont like the way that one is half done, though if he had done the heating console and the gear surround it wouldnt look too bad... i could try that one out and see how it goes?
best thing about this stuff, if you dont like it then just pull it all off again.

for me the mix of carbon and brushed alloy doesnt work, one or the other
and really not a fan on the carbon round the buttons and RNS-E, for me with carbon, less is more lol

no idea, but hes got another dial and switch where the ash tray is, so there is something going on... i dont know why but have a gut feeling it for something like air ride/hydraulics, and then neons... dont know why i think that its just a feeling, bugsy there any exterior pics from where you got that image

isnt that a bit of a waste to put real carbon in such a small place that makes no actual difference to weight or performance, i mean if its just for the eyes then surely any kind of carbon wrap would do no?

lol the look of real carbon is very different to even the 3M stuff, im going to be skimming some of my interior parts once ive finished with uni for the summer

Im wondering if i should do the cabin lights at the top now? what do you guys think?

I think that you should get a nice flat bottom steering wheel to finish of the interior, it would look well cool dont you think Ash?
