Ok, so i will have abit of time on my hands this weekend and no spare cash until my next payday, im trying to think of things to do to the car that doesn't cost anything (tough ask i know) but is there any thing you guys can think of? Iv'e already debadged the car, Iv'e got some hammerrite paint from the last time i painted my capillers, so im going to do them again, im going to wash, polish and wax the car aswell apart from that anything else i can get up to?

If you spend £1 on a 3mm plasic hose joiner you can do the N249 bypass ;)

You will need some vac hose too to do the N249 bypass properly, however suitable stuff can be bought on the bay for about £3. Guide here: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/general-technical-how/84402-n249-bypass-how-2000-s3-but-same-many.html

Smoothing airbox - if you have one.

Cleaning the engine bay - a worthwhile passtime.

Change fuel filter - OK, about £8 but cheap really, and certainly worthwhile.

Polish inlet manifold - A wire brush bit on a drill and then some super fine wet and dry and metal polish. Bling bling.

Clean throttle body - normally minging.

What does the N249 bypass do mate? CBA to search!

OP - You could hoover it as well :lmfao:

Lazy git.

Do it it's a great mod. It cuts out all the pipework for the N249 valve which will open you DV when the ECU wants to dump. The N249 system is so prone to leaks its a joke. You'll notice a lovely sharp throttle once you do it.

Agreed, I have not heard one negative comment about that mod - I've done it one pretty much every S3 I have come across now.

Literally takes about 5 mins, tidies up the engine bay, makes for better throttle response, stops the ECU being able to dump boost if it fancies it. It's just all good.

Spraying is so last year. It's all about vinyl wrap now mate. It doesn't chip ;)

Not strictly true bud, I have a stonechip in the vinyl on my roof which is annoying.

Also, not sure how well it would stand up to the likes of this...

Now THAT would be a stonechip.

Some great stuff there folks should keep me busy. Thank you

Am i right in saying the N249 bypass job is easy to do even for someone with 10 thumbs like me? :arco: Dont want to start something i can't finish? And this can be done on an AUM 2002 1.8T?

You would have to have no hands, no eyes, 1 leg and be called lucky to mess it up mate if I'm honest. Follow the guide and you can't go wrong!

Although I did notice that you didn't mention what car it is....?

What about the 1.8T ARY engine code then mate?

ARY? That came in the TTs didn't it, not the A3?? lol.

Here is the data on that engine: ARY

Date: 09/00 -
Drive: Haldex 4WD
Emission: non-VVT, EU3
Throttle: drive-by-wire
Injectors: big
Turbo: K03sport
Gearbox: FHA, FEK (6-speed)

Anyway, it should be more or less the same.

Use the T Piece that came with the boost gauge for the boost gauge dude, as it will mostly likely be an anti-buzz one.

Definitely got ARY written on mine, might have a look into doing this then.

i bought an anti buzz one duno what the other one is whats the difference?

looking at that pic on mkivs i would have to use one t piece where shown and tee off again of the fpr line is this correct
