I've just changed my Module from an A to a K. I'm getting faults on Rear Fog Light & Rear Reverse Light. My Interior lights don't work also...

I'm getting these fault codes on VCDS:

Hmmm, that fuel pump relay one I had before moving the relays/fuses about on the module. May well be that as Khufu says although with my new one I just put the relays into the same position my old ones were and all is working now after figuring out which ones position the washer relays went into.

Did you check what the ross wiki for the 2nd fault? The terminal 30 one?

Yep....

Possible Symptoms
Interior Light nor working
Possible Causes
Fuse(s) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Fuse(s)
Special Notes
When found in VW Golf (1K) or similar:
Check Fuse(s) in Dash Board and Electronic Box (Engine Compartment)
Check bolted Power Connections in Electronic Box (Engine Compartment)
Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Central Electronics Control Module
Check Power Supply Relais for Terminal 30 (J317)

This is a picture of the current layout of the relays on the module :

My Fogs don't work and Rear reverse light don't work.....& my Interior lights.

Going by the pic A8Tech posted on the other relay thread we chatted on as seeen below:

1 - Terminal 15 voltage supply relay J681- q Plug position B1
2 - Vacant q Plug position B2
3 - Heated rear window relay -J9- q Plug position B5
4 - Horn relay -J413- q Plug position B6
5 - X-contact relief relay -J59- q Plug position B9
6 - Double washer pump relay 1 -J729- q Plug position B8
7 - Double washer pump relay 2 -J730- q Plug position B7
8 - Vacant q Plug position B3
9 - Terminal 30 voltage supply relay 2 -J689- q Plug position B4

Terminal 30 relay doesn't seem to be present on your CE in the position that it displayed as supposedly being in the pic above.

I don't remember that relay being on your old CE either so kinda weird as all plugs can only go back into same place removed from... and relays went back into same place they came off your old CE, like I did with mine and all is well....

I take it you have gone through the long coding for the CE module to make sure everything is ticked correctly? (sorry if im insulting you LOL)

Yep.....Spent a couple of min...ticking and un-ticking ..to see what happens....but nothing changed.

I was wondering the same Khufu :) lol...

Digzz did you check your old coding (old module) vs new coding from K module?

ok check the wiring and run a output test in address 09 to check there is a feed from the pins when the test runs for interior light etc

Comparing both of these ...there the same....But I seem to have a Problem with this connector B

Weather it's a coding thing ..or not...I ain't got a clue....I also checked to see if this connector was in properly...and it was...

Connector B (12-pin)

Pin 11: Interior lighting ---------Not working

How do you run a output test ?

I used to have a long code simulator which helped calculate the code byte changes when not connected to the vehicle

Compare the long code from the log above byte for byte and find the interior light, see if it differs

so what isn't working now

Pin 1: Reversing light right ---Not working
Pin 4: Fog tail light, left -----Not working

Are you saying compare these 2 codes together ?

Rear right reverse should now be t12c/4 as it was t12c/1 for 5 door

Left fog was t12c/4 now t12c/1

So see if the fog comes on when you reverse or reverse if you put the fog on lol

If that works out I will look at the interior light after

I'll check it out in a few min's and get back to you on that.

I've just checked it out and nothing else comes on when I engage the Reverse gear

well its time to look at the general coding of the control unit

then look at the outputs from the control unit

output test can be done by either switching on the componant or via vcds

when you go into address 09 you will see the output test

click on and you can test individual items like reverse or interior lights etc

so either way connect a voltmeter or led test light to the pin you think should feed out the signal for reverse etc

if there is a feed coming out but no operation at the light then the wiring needs looking at

start with the reverse switch and when you sort that out you can move onto the fog and interior light

its may help if you do a dump screen of long code helper with the info for each byte so it can be seen what's coded or not coded

i cant tell you from here which byte does what without seeing them

the interior light pin out is the same for pre 2008 so that's telling you the wiring is fine

we will get there, just a bit of messing around first

i will post a wiring diagram of the reverse circuit

my elsa differs as it s showing left hand drive on one pc and right on me other argggggggggggh but this should be correct

this looks better

from 2004 upto 2009 the plugs on j519 are the same 2010 changes so these plugs and pin numbers should be correct

elsa 3.81 shows left hand drive but i have the earlier version which is right hand drive

my head hurts

giving up tonight due to man flew

I've just tried it and still nothing changed. But I'm getting a few different fault codes for the reverse light and rear fog light.

do you have dual fogs or just the one

11.60 volts would indicate the signal voltage is open circuit so the voltage is coming out of j519 but not getting to the lights so returned voltage read is the same as whats going out

in other words no consumer to consume the current/voltage = open circuit

I have 1 rear Fog.....

change byte 3 so its just one fog light

clear the codes

turn ignition off then on

turn the fog light on

rescan

if you just have the fault code for one fog then check the feed out of j519 for the fog light

double check the fog light bulb is ok as well if there is a feed out

lets see what happens and if this original pin is still designated for fog light

wire colour blue and red t12c/1 connector B to pin 1 right reverse light

make sure the wire is fitted in fine and making contact

double check the fog light bulb is ok as well if there is a feed out

Would I just change the byte 3 06 to 16 ?

sorry just swapped lap tops for wire position

try 16

sorry to confuse but I have 2 laptops running here and for the life of me keep mixing up fogs and reverse 5 door and 3 door as well as left and right hand drive because elsa 3.81 is wrong

I will look proper in the morning, hopefully man flu free

I've just released something sufficient ....these errors below are very weird ... because the bulb for the rear Fog light is on the Right not the Left. And the Back-Up Light is on the Left ....Not Right....as below states...

I also did a Test for the rear Fog in Vag-com .....And the light worked.....

Would you know what all this means?

I've just compared some rear lights from ebay.de.....And My Previous old lights... The Back up lights & Fog lights are in a different place.

These are my lights:

These are the ones from ebay.de

fog light will be osr
reverse will be nsr

so if the output test puts the osr fog on then the wiring is correct from the output of j519

so is the j519 getting the signal from the headlight switch to activate the fog

rear fog light switch input is found Connector E (16-pin j519) pin 13

you should be able to check with vcds via measured value blocks if the switch is working

open the label files and this will tell you which measured value block osr fog light is in

fog light pin input pin 13 is the same for both control units so is the switch ok

L46 is in deed REAR LEFT FOG FOR 3 DOOR MODELS but not used as this is used as a reverse light M16 rear left reverse

so the back lights are not coded correctly as m17 is right reverse and your reverse should be rear left
