The TQS Owners thread

thought i would add my pics of the inlet manifold pipe i made this morning got all the pipes off ebay.

i used a 45 degree elbow and a 90 degree elbow with 1 hose joiner in the middle cost about £20-30 instead of £60 for a forge one also the pipes i have used are 68mm internal diameter which is larger than the standard pipe will have to measure the old one to tell you but when i put them together the was a noticable difference.

there is a slight noticable difference in throttle response not massive but i know its there lol

Nice DIY job paul, was it an easy mod to do, and do you have any links to the seller?

eBay My World - autoperformanceonline

cheers reesyboy yeh it was nice easy job only pain was getting the old one off as the screw part for the clip was facing towards the floor once off the pipe was a couple of trial fits then done about 30mins if all goes well

Did you just clamp it tight onto the inlet manifold? The reason I ask is that the pipe going on is beigger then the one coming off,so I'd assume it has a larger diameter then the manifold?

the pipe that i took off was very tight to pull off the manifold also at the other end where there is a small metal part with a sensor in it was too small on that side so when i fitted the larger pipe it was a bit bigger than the conector so just clamped it down nice and tight both ends and its got no leaks took the car out for a good test drive hehe and no leaks.

i nearly bought the forge one then looked at the orignal one and thought its only two bends could make that easy and did lol.

i was looking at the tip and thinking hmm could try and do what badger 5 did but then had a good look underneath and thought sod that not enough room to get the pipe to work and custom build it while fitting it and getting all the other hoses to join on priced it up would work out around 70quid with the bolt in hose parts that let you connect other hoses into a silicone pipe.

but it would be a right pain to bit and cut and refit to get it work exactly if ive got some free time soon will draw somthin up and do some measureing and trial fit one and see it it works and will let ya know wont be for a while till get suspension and exhaust done yet.

The inlet pipe seems easy enough then, but I think that the TIP would be too difficult/fiddly to do. I think I'd rather pay the £115 for the forge one, although that won't be until early July as spare funds are going on the Haldex controller!

Question: Do your wheels sit flush with your arches? As mine do, so I'm wondering if my car has had spacers fitted

they sit flush with front arches not the rears but i do have 9j wheels

you could get the tip of quattro 1 im not having it as its black he wants £100 plus postage for it.

i need a blue one so it will keep with the other hoses im changing blue or might have a dabble at making a custom tip

You should be able to see if you have spacers by looking through the spokes mate.

why didnt i think of saying that lol.

got to say westle i now dislike you as your going the ring and im not wish i could go :(

work it all mounts up and i will probs get to carried away on track and bin it then be stood there in the middle of the track on my knees shouting noooooooooo not mainly cause the cars wrecked because ive hit the barrier lmao will probs cost me more than the car

Fair excuses but I think I have a solution!

- Chuck the GF. This will free up money and reduce moaning ;)
- Drive the track slowly so you dont bin it.
- Call in sick to work for Friday 2nd and Monday 5th September.

I fancy the ring trip now, as I was meant to be going on holiday with my mates this summer, but 1 by 1 they're backing out... Plus it's my Dad's b'day on the 5th of September so might see if he wants to tag along.Westle, are you convoying with Prawn?

That's on 7.5J S3 Avus wheels.

Paul what wheels are you running then 9J 17's or 18's?

Yes mate get involved.

Keep an eye on the thread that's link in my signature. I'm meeting prawn at Dover then we're convoying to the Ring. S3baby is also coming and a few of my mates and Prawns mates.

ps. sorry for hi-jacking the TQS thread once again.

That's fine, we asked. I'm really tempted, and would probably have a laugh, but I, like Paul, have reservations. For example, I don't want to be the one that gets overtaken by the open top bus that goes around!!!

Plus, through the whole journey it'll eat a set of tyres, discs and pads I'd imagine?

These have about 9 or 10 holes on them, so I'm assuming they are spacers. Hopefully, I can sell them then when I sort out my other wheels and the spacers needed for them! Did you work out what you were going to need for the S4's yet mate?

There's no shame in being overtaken by anything mate. It's all about coming home in 1 piece. I dont set any records round the Ring, I average 10 min laps and just enjoy myself.

I had new brakes fitted for last years trip and they are still brand spanking new now ;) Those DS2500s you've got did 5 laps of the ring last year too and they're in good nick aren't they?

You could always wait and see who from ASN is going and ask if you could be a passenger in their car.

There would be shame in being overtaken by the tour bus! Yeah, they are in good nick as well i guess, and I wouldn't be doing a massive amount of laps anyway (side note, the brakes on my car are now fooking amazing).

Ut's a shame my parents sold their RS6 last year, or I'd have been getting my Dad to take us in that!!

I think the A3 would be alright, although I don't know whether I'll have moved on to the dark side of S3 ownership by then.

You're not allowed to mention the "S" word in this thread ;)

I'm slightly disappointed that I've never seen the tour bus on the ring in nearly 10 years of going. Last year though I couldn't keep up with a Passatt estate with a roof rack and baby seat :wtf:

He was clearly a local and must have driven the track a lot.

hhmm wish my wheels sat nice like that :(

would fooking love to go to the ring especially when my turbo is up and running

might be something to look into :)

might be selling the Spacers soon mate, I'll keep you posted on that though.

And westle, the 's' word us allowed, just not allowed to be bigged up more then our a3's!

You should come mate, we could meet you on the way and convoy to Dover, to meet up with a fellow A3'er, and the S3 snobs!

Looking forward to ordering the haldex controller, although I won't be getting mine until the very end of June.

Have you got a pic of your car Paul?

Any rubbing, and what spacers are you running?

no spacers and no rubbing got about enough space to get a piece of paper between the shock and the back of the wheel:sign_omg:
but they been on since november and not scratched the shock so they nice and solid and not touching.

will be having 15mm spacers on rear and 5mm on front when lower car just to push the wheels out more better stance

Wheels I'm looking at are 8J and ET45, so I think I'm going to go with 10/15mm spacers

what wheels are they?

if i can remember right the bigger the spacer the more it reduces the et and im sure mine where et35 so if you get et 45 with 10mm spacers will = et 35

erm just a tad at the back especially in pic 2 it like there is the arch ow whats that i think its a bit of rubber it carnt be the wheel o it is lmao

told yaz the arches where big on mine wheels are just lost and there 9j tried 10s on and still lost but couldnt be bothered paying for tyres for 10j or streching tyres that much
