MY11 rear lights - pics

Thanks very much to NHN, who had these little beauties delivered this morning. "The process" is officially under way, thankfully the first step was an easy one (and cheap, too)!

Where I started (not very clean):

Swap is in progress (and a lot simpler than I expected):

The result:

The final "look back", amazing how much better the new lights look... now to go get her cleaned.

Definitely worth doing since you have a black car (or I guess white would work too). I wasn't sure they'd make that much difference, but it looks like a new car.

The subtle mods are the best, the ones that look "factory", the ones not everyone would notice (or at least they wouldn't be able to put their finger on what changed).

I do see the appeal in the 09 & 11 lights, but I think Im the only person on the forum that actually prefers the plain-ness of the early lights!

I know what you mean, they're a different sort of style. Look at the latest page of the RIMZ sticky thread and you'll see the grey A3 with normal lights looks spot on, and then the white S3 (with orange wheels) looks great with MY11 lights too. I doubt an S3 would look as good on fat-fives as yours does in your sig.

Yep, car looks right now.
If we were only allowed one mod on the rear of a car then I would choose MY09/MY11 rear lights everytime.
It's brings the back of the car into modern times.

Bit of advice - use a socket to take the plastic screws thing off the lights, not a screwdriver. One of mine worked fine, the other was pretty stubborn and the screwdriver just ripped the slot open (giggidy) effectively stripping out the head (even though it's a flat-head) so the screwdriver just spun and spun without moving the actual screw at all. I think it is a 13mm socket that fits around the outside of the screw.

.....and don't drop it between the boot trim and car body either. Same goes for those stupid little trim hole covers too. I did it on my first A3. I'm still irritated by it and I don't even own the car anymore.

both of my trim peaces are at the back of the trim somewhere i dropped both of them now behind the pannel when changing bulbs dam it lol
