Just be aware lads

Thanks for the heads up though dude if you had a bad experience. But did you say you had them out of the tin? As if they were in the tin then that's bad news.

Inside the cup holder thing inside the centre console ,Top was off as they fade quick ,The misses shut it and it ruined the cup shaped area shrivelled it up.No i usually stick the contents in my air vents when they fade but didnt get chance this time
Seems the plastic in the cup holders pretty poor

Will bell you tomoz mate on a night shift so might be up at around half 1 maybe.

Thanks, easy mate when you know what your doing, you just TWIST the base that holds it to the screen, do not push anything on or off you will smash the screen. you will have to move the mirror with the base as you twist. paint wise i just used plasticoat. matt black worked well mate.

Warren, how did you manage to grip the part that is attached to the windscreen to twist it off? Is it stuck to the windscreen & needs re-sticking when you put it back? Ive pulled the mirror of easily but need a bit more guidance getting the base off. Understanding how its attached to the windscreen would help!

mate do not do anything without knowing for sure how to do it, its very easy to smash your windscreen!

ok so to take it off the base and mirror you grip the base twist left or right then its free to pull away.

you can split the mirror off then base once off by pulling it off with force, same with putting the mirror back on the base just force but never do it while it in on the screen.

to put the base an mirror back on, you offer the base back up on the side so it then touches then screen then you twist it back on and thats it really, it can go slack but you crimp the prongs on the base back inwards.

be careful mate

Did you just hold the base by hand? Ive removed the mirror housing itself leaving just the base that it pivots on attached to the window. Tried twisting it but its ****** stiff and very hard to get a grip on it?

yeah i got a real firm grip on the base and twisted ! it should come off with force but be careful like i said.

EDIT ! yeah thats how it fits mate!

My lungs are black! boxes arrived few days back but been stripping out the interior and spraying stuff!

I cant wait to see it Warren, you know i'm watching this very closely lol

Just saw this thread, have to say lovely build mate. Especially loving the A5 seats! did you manage to get the electric and heated elements working in them? alloys look spot on too mate!

I'm sure it will be fine mate, but before you put anything back,we need to speak first ;)

I was gonna ask what issues you had that made you sell the S3 brakes, then I read the first few pages and saw you have a 1.9

Sorry if this is a little ambush, I've just bought a set of S3 brakes of a member got the carriers, calipers, pads, discs and lines. I assume that they will fit on a 2.0TDI without any issues?

Also do most people instal S3 brakes on the rear as well? as I haven't seen any for sale, if you still have yours warren and are looking to sell just the rear I'm interested!

Sorry again about the hijack but didn't wanna start a new thread xD

How's it coming along Warren? Nearly sorted?

Lets just say ive gone another direction with this :D bit of advice to anyone. Dont dye your headlining ! the finish isnt 100%

Yeah your will just bolt on i think, but you need the big splash guards aswell. i would put mine on but money could go on other things right now. And ive been told thats its not worth doing the rears.

Shiz is looking up again! will try update tomorrow.

I like that mate, look nice from the pics... Good work

Good effort mate, looks good! How much did you have to spend on the material roughly?

Warren,i think that looks amazing,i'm sure the pics arent doing it full justice.
I love that material,my mate fitted it to his roof lining.
Its great for writing on ha ha.

Massive well done, and even bigger respect for doing it all yourself

Thanks everyone for the comments, looks really well when inside now, the only bits i wasnt happy with was the impossible parts to wrap, even spoke to mj and he said you cant do them without a stitch, so with what i did i was happy for being able to do it myself. Jules am going to be able to play 0's n x's in the headlining haha.

Tim all depends on how much you want to pay, i got mine for £9 a metre but should of been more, i used 3 metres but thankfully didn't have to pay for any glue as a family member is a glue manufacture, set me up a pressure pot for spraying etc

its a hard job but glad ive done it now.

Edit- For the pillars though i just used a glue that he had in a can he made up for me, is a good contact adhesive and most off the shelf ones will work on the pillars.

Cat, bag + let out spring to mind :)

Can someone clear this up, what have people done when fitting spacers ? where have you got longer lockers ? i can ger longer bolts but dont no what lockers to use?

ive got 5mm spacers so will new bolts have to be 5mm longer ?

I am 99% sure you dont need longer bolts with 5 mm spacers Mate

i was told this but when i first put them on they were only in afew threads and i mean like 4 threads.

ive been fine up untill today when i took a wheel off and threaded two bolts, am using slightly longer bolts what at first tightened up well- alot better than the original that was very loose feeling.

i was thinking 8 5mm longer bolts and two lockers that are longer to be safe as everything was fine untill the spacers went on.
