I've looked through most of the mobile service providers and every phone appears to be a touch screen based.
The best phone I can see is the Blackberry Bold 9780.

Can any one recommend a good non-touch screen phone?

I've got a BB Bold 9700, had it for 18 months or so and I really really like it. I'd recommend it everytime, the only slight disadvantage is the smaller screen size, but thats unavoidable without a touchscreen. The keys and the ease of typing are unsurpassed IMO.

Thanks, it appears to be a very good phone.

It looks like that is what she will end up having.
I'm shocked that most of the manufacturers has almost given up on normal button phones.

The misses is going to hate it when she needs to change.

Blackberry Torch. it is a touch screen but it still have a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

also has a big screen.

i upgraded from a Blackberry 8520 (Curve) still as easy to type on

same here, great phone. But if your looking for a toy as much as you are for a phone then you will probably be dissapointed by the apps for it.

Fat fingers axios :p

haha, no mate.
Not for me.

Its for a female friend, she hates touch screens.
every now and then she comes up with a really stupid idea along the lines of "I might as well give up and go an Iphone".

I'll pass on the above sugestions and see what she thinks of them.

I have a brand new Blackberry Bold 9700 for sale if you are interested - its on orange, PM me for details....

Soz for the shameless plug!!! ;)

The Bold is good but a bit 'male'. She should go for a BB Curve, it's a bit smaller and more girlie.
All the women at work opted for them over the Bold.

Back off fool...im trying to make a sale here!!! ;)

lets face it, the only good place for a blackberry, is the bin. What hateful phones and iv never used a good one.

Tell her to man up and get used to touchscreen... she will have to adapt like everybody else to get a supreme phone... like the iphone 4. My missus is the same, complaining about touchscreen, but since i bought her an ipod touch she has learnt to love it.

:asskicking:

Same story here, got myself an iphone4, and now the woman wants one, after finding out how **** the touchscreen on her Nokia N97(which is also mine) is! lol

She even upgraded to a HTC Wildfire a month ago, which lasted 5 minutes before she sold it as new to a friend, as she couldn't get along with the touchscreen.

No news from her mate, should be seeing her today (she's cooking. Woo-Hoo bring on the duck) and i'll ask her.

I hate blackberry's. ooo look they do email, so does every other ****** phone on the planet. But its a blackberry. So is this (holding up a blackberry fruit.).
Each to their own I guess.

Lol! So am I :sly:

lol, you got a curve for sale?
I'll mention it to her.

Watching the misses try to operate a touch screen phone is really annoying. she presses the screen like its going to explode in her face if she presses to hard and then ****s her self if it something happens that she did not press.

I still maintain my Nokia N95 8GB is one of the best phones I have ever used, I've used mine for around 3 years, and upgraded to an N97 between, but didn't get along with it before the missus nabbed it! I'm still looking for a decent replacement for it, where I just need a good battery life for calls and text only!
The iphone4 is such a great multimedia device though, but I have that separately, as it needs charging pretty much daily, which is damned annoying!! Costs me around 9 quid every 3 months for a data simcard only using 3G.

l have a BB Pearl. l dont like touch screens or flippies. My wife has a touch one and doesnt know how to make calls.
