Hi Gang

Searched looads of threads, and there are wildly different gains reported with the 170tdi, so has anyone had and A4 B7 170 remapped.

Are there any issues problems with clutch & gearbox after mapping, any definitive help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mac

200 Bhp but it will have to be a very good map with litle torque down the revs to keep the strain on the clutch as close to stock as possible. It will however munch the DMF and clutch pretty soon as these are made of cheese on new cars... Dont do traffic lights drag races and you'll be fine for a while... There are companies who claim over 200 bhp reliably, i would take-it with a pinch of salt though...especially if they dont delete the particulate filter as the EGT will increase beyond safe levels and thats bad for the turbo (as well as the turbo spikes) !

Thanks fella, I did read about DPF delete and remaps, but im thinking the 170 should be let alone.

ive had mine remapped everything standard and you can defiantly fell the difference, far better acceleration and much more responsive. 205bhp no isssues since and had it on for 1yr n half and im not a steady driver open road and the foots to the floor

It's called "lotery dyno" in your case if you seen 205 Bhp with the stock DPF in place... If you take a 15min trip on full throttle i am shure you'll cook your turbo/engine real good ! Pity that full throtle it does not happen too often in uk due to the speed limits...

Where did you have it done, how much more torque, did it make any dierence to the mpg

Thanks

I had my a4 avant special edition Quattro 170tdi re-mapped and to be honest I really didn't see a great difference! And since my DPF light has come on twice! Looking at getting the DPF taken off and re-mapped! Anyone had this done and how much did it cost

Did mine via Superchips Bluefin. Stunning improvement in acceleration and drivability......

Needed a new clutch and flywheel at 65,000 miles but I'm told STD clutches go around then anyway.

richardesty - How long was the Bluefin remap on yours before the clutch needed replacing. I have a 170 at 59k miles and was thinking of going this route. If the clutch is gonna go pop in approx 6k miles am I better to leave it if there is additional strain with a remap

Cheers

About 15,000 I think but of course it depends on how much you use the extra power and especially the torque :undwech:
