Dane's Hybrid Conversion Thread

Cheers for the update Bill!

It would appear no one has cottoned on... :ninja:

It probably would have been fine if I'd have just sent mine off and probably equally as expensive now lol.

Dude no worries, Its all good! Having two turbos means I can keep driving mine while it's being sorted, the end result will, hopefully finger crossed touch wood, be well worth it

I'm sure it will be mate

Well it would need testing if he were.... :ninja:

Is it me or am I starting to hear of more mistakes from CR turbos??

to be fair, this was'nt their mystake, just circumstance and none of us noticing the egt port that was'nt on wellys but which dane's needed (early car vs later car). Welding it up vs screwing in a simple bung however would have been far better imho than welding up the hole & skimming it flat again. emails have been exchanged..

Oh really? well that makes me feel better. Onwards!

Right the car is off to Bills on Saturday, woop!

However typically my abs and esp lights decided they were going to come on, just after a heavy down pour and a thunder storm...
I'm pretty sure the problem is with the wiring loom to the abs sensor on the front left of the car (the wires got squished into one when my heavy handed friend decided he was going to take a lever to the hose bracket on the inside of the wheel arch).

Popped over to Welly's to get it scanned and low and behold... no signal from the front left abs sensor, the sensor was replaced about 9 months ago so I'm pretty confident it's not that but I've asked Bill to see what he can do with the current loom.

Interestingly I could hear the abs pump going when just turning with no brakes and Welly asked if I gave it a caning on the way over because of the smell and heat from the brakes, that combined with easily locking up and generally being sketchy we pulled the fuse, so I'm greeted by this every time I turn the car on

lol!

2 more days!

Bill can my turbo be sent off and done for free? if so i might bring it down for a manifold and wmi

lol only messing Bill. Will have to bring the S3 down soon to see what difference the Tip has made to it and hopefully keep me on the top ten list

OK cool ill look through my dates and let you know Bill.

Back on topic will be intersting to see how Dane's compares to mine although i suddenly remembered that when we mapped mine i had a month old 94ron fuel in it which im sure will have made a difference

I've left mine so it's nearly out so I can stick half a tank of fresh V-power in before I jump on the motorway.

Oh you dirty boy :asskicking:

haha back then i was saving money to pay for all the work and every penny counted. Is still saving pennies just going to roll ups to try and save a bit more so i can get WMI and manifold

I know that feeling, I've pretty much done nothing the past few months to save the money.

I've started to cycle to work to save money, so far it's not working! Cycled in for 3 days, already had 1 puncture, new inner tube was £8 so it's actually cheaper to drive at the moment ;)

I was thinking about stealing welly's quad bike Idea, much cheaper on fuel for the short drive to work, but It would involve buying one and a helmet etc. so it might take a while to get the money back...

Id love to cycle to work sadly its 60 miles each way to the office and its down the A14

That saved me a packet until I had to go to Cheltenham every day, it because useless then, in honesty. :(

Hmm maybe not a good idea. I only have 3.5 miles each way and I can nearly cycle it as fast as it takes in a car!

Anyway I keep hijacking threads so back on topic:

Dane when do you think you will have your car finished and running?

Bill said a week or so. I'll go over in the micra a few times to take some pics

It's my brothers 998cc 54 micra, my grandads old car, I'll take a picture when I get home. It's filthy at the mo I'll have to clean it. I've got to Bills in 15 mins before, I don't think thatll be happening next week lol.

I'll take some pics of all the bits on tomorrow.
