Hi,

I have a silver 98 a4 saloon and the black door trims at the bottom are looking a bit tired and perished in a couple of areas, so im wanting to change to silver, whats my best route for doing this??

Cheers
Rich

Get the s4 trims they are far better and would look better than painted rubber ones.

Yes they are Plastic instead of Rubber but be prepared to take a mortage out on new S4 ones, silly money really..

I had a set of brand new Rubber ones painted and look no different when painted properly from the S4..

The paint shop puts in some Additive to the paint to save it cracking on Rubber..

Mine have been on over 2 years now and still look new..

Cheers guys, you've answered a couple of querys there because i didn't know the s4 ones where plastic, i have seen some for sale (S4), i had e-maild him a couple of week ago and they were still there, but dont mind paying 50/60 quid each so will see how much from audi, unless you's know how much they are from audi, got a little scuff on the front bumber so going to be getting the paint anyway.
Now the rubber bit that sits over the sill, what are they on the s4 plastic/rubber, they look as though there clued on, might be best left, what you think?/

Right this is how they look I was not that bothered about having the sills Painted I can live with that..

You don't see the S4 Sills because they are different altogether from the A4..

You would have to put S4 Sills on to get that look and you are talking plenty Dollar to do that..

Very nice, gona go with with the s4 door trims and get them painted and leave the sills black, it will match the bottom of the front and back bumpers (standard).
Thanks for help guys, See how much they are from Audi now, going to be spending quite a bit there cambelt kit, water pump etc so might be able to get a we bit knocked off, they can only say no.

they prolly will say no, lol get a quote from Stokeaudiparts you should get a discount if you mention ASN for the belt, pump etc. as for the S4 door trims you will need the strip behind the trims they are different from the A4 trims as they have clips.

A4 trims iirc are still pricey from Audi. i believe ECP used to do the door trims not sure if they still do was around £20 iirc.

Like most Parts from Audi you can put 2 noughts on the end for anything to do with an S4..

Been down that road already and has I say for the end result which I think will look no different S4 or Painted A4's no one will ever know they are S4..

Only when you come to Paint and the Prep is a litle different and a good Paint shop will sort that..

The only difference One being Plastic the other Rubber..

Anyhow the decision can be taken when you get the unbelievable price from Audi for S4's..

Plus then you have to get them Painted whichever you choose..

i agree they are expensive if you buy new, i managed to accumulate used parts over a period of time. The A4 trims are not excatly the same as the S4 the width of the strips are smaller to accomodate the S4 skirts below.

I have a set of S4 trims available. They were a full complete set but after having the car in the bodyshop they have managed to lose some pieces:wtf: They are genuine S4 audi parts( i had to buy them with the skirts i wanted and smoothed the bottoms of my doors so never used these) and everything apart from the 2 front inner door sections and 2 rear door inner sill sections. All the outer coloured pieces are still there and imagine these to be the most expensive, so the 4 parts required should be available from dealers re3asonably priced, or sourced from breaking cars.

I also have a set of S4 fibreglass sideskirts aswell, but these arent oem, replica units, but still look really good. Anybody intersted please pm me and i'll do a good price for the lot.
