Straighten the exhaust end tips of a 2.0TDI

Hi guys,

I've searched for this in the forum, but couldn't find answers (cause I probably didn't use the right words).

As most of you know, the "old" 2.0TDI endpipes aren't straight:

I want to fit on chrome end tips, so I must cut off the curved end...

Has anyone of you ever done this, or is there a "tutorial" or "how-to" available to sort this out?

I've just fitted the Audi Extension tailpipes to my 2.0 tdi - will post pic up tomorrow but looks 100% better - got them from supplier on ebay for £40 - Audi wanted £120 for them!!!
 
@munchkincoupe, thanks for the link, but those wont fit my car. Also, are your endpipes already straight? Mine slightly bend downwards...
 
I'm pretty sure the downward part would need cut off. Any exhaust place would do this in about 5 minutes with a gas powered hack saw. Some might not even charge you. If you can work out the diameter of the pipe then I dare say a trim could be fitted over what's left if there is enough straight pipe. If not then it would be a welding job.

I have the same problem, if you buy the exhaust tips take them to garage and they will angle grind the downward pointing end bits and weld the tips on, but make sure they are on straight as some people have had them done and they didn't look very straight.
 
Mine were downward facing tips. The Audi part requires that you cut them off and weld these in place. Quality piece of kit though. Not the lightweights tips you may get off ebay

If you email them they do stock the tips for non-votex kit and also for later models with the straight pipes
 
No you need the same as me 8p0 071 911

I have the 140 and what looks like exactly the same colour/kit as your car Scott!
 
If you email that seller on ebay - partsdepot_uk - and ask them for the other part number mate
 
Just to clarify for you all

To remove the droopy part of the exhaust is easy.

The actual 'droopy' part is a sleeve which goes over a straight pipe

It is only held on with iirc 3 small tack welds at the end closest to the backbox

These can easily be ground of with an angle grinder/dremel.

Once these welds have been removed, the droopy part will just slide off leaving you a nice straight pipe to fit your new
Exhaust trims too.
