Finally removed my thumb from chocolate starfish to sort my grill out after painting it black last year it has picked up many stonechips as the chrome is hard to cover over even with 4 coats of laquer.

I had some gloss black vinyl around and an hour spare but couldn't be bothered to remove the bumper/grill/surround so i just did it on the car.

looks bang on!

OH FANTASTIC, PHOTOBUCKET IS DOWN. im not typing it all again ill just add pics tomorrow!!!

Nice work! have u had experience vinyl wrapping before? Looks like u did a good job

Thanks mate, yeah iv done it once before when i carbon wrapped my interior, turns out its just quite easy.

Cheers Daz, no, as you can maybe tell my original plan was to go "Murdered Out" black wheels no chrome etc etc but iv changed my mind as i like the wheels in silver and the chrome kinda matches now, still pleased with the grill but the rest is staying, i keep tempting myself with some chrome mirrors but dont think it will suit the cars style so probably leave it.

lol im allready 90% murdered out like the silver wheels but may go for some black BBS's or some dark grey wheels not sure yet moneys bit tight after the accident and i got a huge list to try n get b4 show season. was considering carbon wrapping a few bits to keep the blacked out theme but jus tone it up a bit with different textures
especially if im going get the dtm carbon splitter n rear spoiler

Nice work...dont know how you managed to do it with the grill still on, but very nicely done!

Is your front badge white or chrome?

Cars looking spot on with the cupra r splitter.

Thanks man, it wasn't to hard actually, would of been much easier if it hadn't been so windy out! Front badge is standard chrome, must just be angle??

Looks nice mate. I too did mine on the car when I carbon wrapped mine.

It's not that hard is it Rich? More of a pain than hard!

Alright coming in here hijacking my thread and showing off with your fancy grill and genuine xenons, makes me sick :puke:

Ha ha looks awesome mate, wish i could have my grill look like that, how did you do it?

That grill looks a dam fine job. Are those LED running lights I spy on the fog lights too - they're not standard are they? did you fit them yourself?

Good work on the vinyl wrapped grill - I did mine a while back but I had a few tiny bubbles so I ripped it off haha!

I did it in a cold underground car park with no water or a hair dryer/hot air gun.

I've still got loads of vinyl so I may do it again properly some time :)

Yeah it looks sweet from a distance but if you look closely im starting to see small wrinkes on the top of the grill, from heat of engine i think.

its only for now till i get my hands on an RS4 grill anyway so im easy.

Thank for the influence triple. I wrapped my twin grill in matte black vinyl. Nice cheap mod.

Errrr, I bought an oem RS6 grill and made it fit......

Yup. They're DRLs and them dim for side lights........ Bought em, then made them fit :)

It looks cool either way, still haven't got myself an RS4 grill but not long hopefully, wheels first.

Triple OG i've just painted the chrome rim on my grill gloss black with around four coats of laquer. After reading your post i'm thinking i've wasted my time here. Will the paint not last? should i wrap it insted?

Yes and no, it's not a waste as such cos it looks great and you'll get 3 or 4 months out of it but it will start to stone chip badly particularly at the bottom. Get some black vinyl off eBay and give it a go, it's not that hard and loos pretty good when done.

Triple.O.G did you do the grill with one piece of vinyl?

No mate, I could of done but didn't have a big enough sheet, I think it will be more difficult to do it that way but if you can then do, I have join lines if you look close which is abit annoying but as its just a put me on im not too fussed.

If you can find a big enough sheet, it's possible to do it in one piece, but I still had to overlap at the bottom (then make one cut to marry it up) because of the curves
