After posting a thread on having polished my facelift headlights I bought of Fahd (Lingo89), I thought it was about time that I got them fitted to the car. I used the guide put together by markyboy666 over of Audi Fans, which was very useful as well as some info in the headlight sticky thread on here.

Took me around 4 hours to do, and had an issue with breaking the adjuster motor's ball joint socket on one of the headlights, which now means I'll have to adjust them by hand, but other than that was all okay.

I'm very pleased with the results, improve the car's apprearance no end, and I'm now 'more' legal with the projector lens having HIDs.

Bhav that looks fantastic mate! you've done a really good job of polishing up those headlights. Maybe it's me being a bit sad and obsessed with minute details, but I think it's amazing how such a minor change can have such a positive effect on the overall look of the car. I was going to ask you whether you were interested in buying the rear facelift lights as I soon won't be needing those but I noticed in the other thread you've put those on too. I guess your facelift conversion is complete!

Do you have any comparison pictures of the HIDs on? I had HIDs in reflector lights on my old car before the HIDs in my Audi and I think it makes a massive difference on the look. Much more OEM looking and the beam pattern is so much better. I'm glad you're pleased with the results too.

Bhav, this car just looks better and better!!!

Well done on the upgrade there, looks bang on.

Makes such a difference to the front of the car.

How did you polish them and do you fancy doing mine?? ;)

Cheers Fahd, yeah I did the rears last summer so thought I needed to get the fronts done and like you said, complete the facelift transformation. The wiring didn't end up being as bad as I thought it'd be. I just used modified the connectors from the old headlamps to make them work. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures with the HIDs in before so I have no comparison pics, but when driving i can just see the projection is much more concentrated on the road rather than just being beamed in all directions!

Cheers tk, I'll get a pic with the HIDs in these lights as soon as I remember!

Cheers Nilz, I made a thread which detailed how I polished the headlights here. Hah, let me know when your in Leics next and I may consider this in exchange for beer tokens! :p

Beer tokens no probs mate, did you know Tesco have a deal on at the mo, 4 cases of beer for £25!!!

Bargain :)

looks spot on mate :D

Cheers pal!

Looking good Bhav! :) I don't like those wheels though, i think you should give them to me lol

Cheers mate. Hmm....I don't like your 19" BBS so a swap sounds like the most logical solution! How about it?:ninja:

Typical Indian! Always looking for those penny saving bargains! Although if I do it in exchange for those 4 cases it could be a deal!

Hang on a min, I thought that you couldn't fit facelift head lights to a pre facelift car? Or is that just the S3s?

Your're kind of right. They're not a straight swap. Need part of the wing grinding, wiring adapted as they're different connections, but other than that with a bit of work it can be done. Here's the guide I used, it shows you what's needed to do it. There's a cheap set available on ebay at the mo, a brand new patent part pair for only £100. Get it done mate.

Is that all the cutting required? Jesus if I had known that I would have done it eons ago - I thought it would be a body shop job!!

Awesome.

Yeah, its pretty straight forward. Here's the lights I was referring to on ebay. Although I'm not too sure if they'll be okay for an S3 as you have Xenon lamps, so they could be different. Unless you do as I did and just buy a HID kit for the new lamps?

Oh yeah, ******! I might of actually swapped with you Bhav lol but.......17s won't fit over my brakes :(

Hah, I was only mucking around with you anyway. Worth a cheeky try eh!? I love them, you'd be a mad man to part with them!

It's even easier on the s3 welly, hardest bit is trimming the wing, but all the plugs fit in, you only have to swap over the level motors from your old ones and bobs your uncle. Took me a couple of hours and has transformed the look of the old girl!
