RNS-E removal keys

I've received my MK2 unit only to find no removal keys were included.

Are these available from Audi? And if so, does anyone have any idea on price?

Alternatively, is there anything else that can be used for removal without causing any damage? I've contacted the ebay seller but just thought I'd see what other options there were if he doesn't get back to me.

some Audi dealers will sell them, but some won't for security reasons. my dealer gave me a set free, but even if you don't have as good a relationship with your dealer as i do they should take the unit out for you free of charge. just call them and they usually ask you to bring it down and they'll take it out there and then

Well thats what i have and they work fine. Dont know why i bother here some times.!

They jammed into both my head units and wouldn't come out again. Trust me, they're utterly useless compared with the Audi ones which gave me no problems

Worked fine for me, no issues.

1 fail out of 4 sales.

Could just have been dodgy set or user error.
You can't dismiss a hole product cause of 1 bad experiance.

For such a small amount of money, I'd agree that 75% is good odds. But when Audi will use proper equipment and do it for you for free, it really doesn't make much sense to pay for something that might not work.

LOL @ user error. I wasn't aware you needed a degree to use them, and if I could get the Audi ones to work fine i'm sure I know what I'm doing

The flat edge of the head should point outwards

You would be amazed how people can et it wrong. One guy on here not long ago was pushing them in to far and trying to use them as handles to pull the unit out. I have had mine for 4 years and used them dozens of times and they are just the job. Only thing is the op might find he needs 4 for the rns to do the job properly and i think they are sold in pairs.

Try them on the unit you want to fit first so you can see how they work as the clip is exposed on the side of the HU, note how far you need to push them in, its not far. Once the keys are in the unit should spring forward from the dash 1/4 inch of its own accord.

If audi did do it for free, how much would the fuel be to get there?
what happens if you need to do it more than once?
Depending on your distance to the garage, you would have all ready paided for the keys in fuel costs.

You can buy them in sets of 4 you can also but them in a kit of 12-24 different sets.#

The main issue here are the clips & whose been using keys on beforehand, not neccessarily the keys themselves, the clips are bent at such a specific angle to move them away from the locator/fixing as such, if these are bent out of shape even by a mm, then it can cause major issues with any keys, had to reshape some of the clips on radios to allow clearance to slide out, its such a minimal adjustment aswell so can take a while lol, annoying for sure as you almost have to destroy the dash to remove it if the units stuck, so yeah do as Paddy advises, test on a radio thats out already before using on fixed one.
