Are Spax or Eibach £200 better then V-maxx, or FK Coilovers

With so many coilovers options for the 8P A3, I wanted some advice & opinions on which to get,

Is it really worth spending another £200+ on the Spax or Eibach if you wanted the best comfort? (I will probably set them to -50 or -60mm)

Ive had Koni, FK & KW in the past (all costing ITRO £650-900) & today I've fitted some JOM's costing £200. The finish isnt as shiny, I've only driven 25 miles and have'nt wound them down very far yet, but initial thoughts are they are just as comfy! I'll be a better judge in a few days.

I had Spax RSX coilovers on my Astra Mk5 before i got the A3, and i have to admit it was worth all of the £600 for them. I had a set of racelands before it which are around £200. There was no comparison. You get what you pay for i suppose.

Im on vmaxx at the minute, they are good for the price, im down 75mm all round, next thursday im having kw v2 fitted, so il let you know if their worth and extra 800

I had spax in my mk2 Clio. Thought they were crap once I bought fks for my a3.

Vmaxx is another very proper, cheap brand

Weitec Hicon GT
KW Variant 1
FK Konigsport
or
Eibach Pro Street S?

TBH you arent going to notice a huge difference in any of them in the same £ bracket. Everyone will have a different opinion and not many people can make a direct comparison (not even me really as I had a few sets but on different cars).

I'd go for KW's personally as I have never heard a bad word said against them & my V2's were very good.

£700 IMO is a lot to spend on coils where you can get ones which are very similar for literally half the price!

i've got Weitec Hicon GTs and the only other brand i'm tempted by is KWs

the only comparison that i can offer you is between the coils and my OEM S-Line suspension and the verdict is that it rides just as well (if not slightly better) than OEM but the body rolls much less which inspires much more confidence in the corners. one of the best purchases i've made for my A3

Have heard good thinks about FKs on the lower end of the budget, and KW V2s if you can afford it. Would be interested to see a good review of the JOMS as they seem too cheap IMO which usually means lacking something badly. Anyone car to comment?

I got them off fellow member smudge_don when he sold up. I haven't slammed it and I haven't measured it! I just had them se to what i thought looked the best. But put it this way, i doubt that the average person off the street would tell you it's been lowered.

Ive just had KW V1 fitted for about 3 weeks now, over the moon ride comfort is not to different and the stiffness really makes a diffrence around the corners. I would 100% reccomened these. . .

If I was spending £700 on coilovers I would want damping to also be adjustable so the comfort as well as ride could be significantly better than S-line suspension. I never understood buying expensive suspension/ coilovers to get a ride 'just as good as' your current suspension/ S-line suspension which is notoriously crashy and generally considered crap. If that's the case you may as well buy springs to lower and save over a monkey, as by all reports Eibach's 45mm/ H&R's 45mm springs ride far better than S line ones do and S line dampers are OK with them. Anyway...

I want a set up thats slightly lower than my S Line, So no rubbing useable everyday but most importantly comfort. I dont mind coilovers but they need to be at minimum as comfortable as the s line suspension if not more comfortable lol

Out of the choices you've put up I'd personally go with the KW V1. V-Maxx and Vogtland also have damping adjustable kits for in and around the same price which are worth a look at as well.

I've had JOM bluelines wound all the way down on my TDi for 2 months now and I can't say a bad word about them so far, they ride just as well as the previous 'sport' suspension and it corners better too
I'm sure they won't last as long as more expensive coilovers but thats why there so cheap
also they go lower than a lot of the more expensive coilovers.

Thanks, think I would be looking at 45mm-50mm drop to sit right without being stupidly low. Aslong as ride isn't worse it doesn't bother me, and knowing me will only have car another 12-18months before I change again (got few options in mind)
