Hi guys,

My car is due a service and i wanted to replace the brake disks and pads on the car...
I have a 2.0 TDi 05 plate Sportback (sport model) and if i am right then this model has the smaller disks. (288mm i think)
could i just buy the larger (312mm - Sline size) disks and fit them on as a direct replacement or would i need some other bits?
I'm not looking to spend big money on it...

any help is appriciated!

To fit larger discs you will need a different caliper carrier.
Is it a 140 or 170?

I think you just need a set of caliper carriers and the disks/ pads from what I recall when upgrading mine, although I just got a set of mk5gti front calipers/disks/ pads and done a straight swap for the old ones. Not sure what a set of carriers costs alone cost

ive just sold my 312mm fronts but have my 288mm rears discs and pads ( 2 months old ) and calipers and carriers for sale.

Are there any recommendations on what disks and pads to get if i just stay with the standard brakes? I have looked on ebay and seen some brembo disks... are these worth getting?
Also whats a good company brake pads to get?

I see a lot of people getting the ferrado's can't remember which one's and green or red stuff pads.

I just stuck to OEM stuff with mine from eurocarparts. Done the job nicely IMO.

JUst had a look on Eurocarparts but i cannot figure out which pads would be needed on a 312mm setup... anyone know the right ones for that size discs?

The pads are the same between the 288 and 312 as they use the same caliper, it is just a different hanger that spaces it out to take the 312mm disc.
