Finally managed to set aside a day to clean and clay-bar the car. The car now has clear corner headlights so no more orange blobs! Yay!

Decided to take the car to some old farm buildings for a few evening shots, see what you think:

And thought of trying a test shot based on a photo I saw on another forum:

hi pall what does the clay bar do( does it take out the swirls in your paint ?) and were did you get it from ? and your car looks well now

A clay bar removes stuck on tar, road debris, bird droppings etc. Basically makes your paint as smooth as it can be. And with claying, your more likely to put marks into paintwork than take them out. Thats when you needs to polish, glaze and wax, to remove the swirls.

You can get a meguiars clay kit from Halfords. Or from any car detailing supplies website.

I've been meaning to set aside a whole day as my car hasn't been clay'd and I had a load of small tar spots around the bottom edge of the car. I washed the car and then used Autoglym's tar spot remover which worked very well. Then I clay'd the car with Meg's car cleaning kit, you must make sure the surface is wet enough with the quik detailer otherwise you increase the risk of swirl marks.
Then used Meg's tyre gel for the tyres and waxed using Meg's Gold Class wax.

Unfortunately, at the time of evening these shots were taken, the car was so shiny that insects kept landing on the surface thinking it was a pond :laugh:

have you got part number for seat splitter :icon_thumright:

looks nice mate gonna clay mine in a few weeks time, how do you do the clear corner mod??

Nice!

Though I reckon maybe with the rear valance or whatever it's called (the trim on the bottom of ear bumper around the exhaust) would look better in black ;)

Also looks like the silver trim around the window on the N/S/R corner is parting.

I cheated, browsed ebay for a couple of months and picked up a couple of decent headlights from 2008 models. Got em for under 40 quid! Didn't want to bother opening them in the oven etc.

Cheers mate. I've see a couple of SE's that had a black bottom valance but it looks a little crap, I'm happy to stick with my colour coded one.

The silver trim on each side sticks out the same, it doesn't move and I ain't hitting it with a hammer :)

Simply stunning Nathan...........shame you're not so hot with cleanly hiding your numberplate

Nice car mate.

A couple of questions....
  • I see you have Dunlops on her, they are not to expensive, how are you finding them, have they got the rim protectors as well?
  • The RS4 style fog light grills look good. Are they original, aftermarket or a diy job? If you bought them, where if aftermarket? Any bumper alterations or a straight swap with the sline ones?
Cheers
Jason

Cheers mate. Yep, bought it with Dunlops on and they have been really good. Due to get my rears changed as they are worn. I don't have rim protectors.

Ah, the RS4 grille's were modded S-Line ones, used some ebay RS4-style mesh and Richardesty dremmelled them to shape and fitted them. Makes a nice addition to my grille's.
