General illumination information and questions

Any of you guys/gals got Armrest storage illumination?

If so, can you get some pics of it please?

For any one else who is interested in this option, the part number is 8E0 971 196. Thats for the wiring harness with LED. So not sure if its got the mounting bracket for the arm rest.....I'm not even sure how it fixes to the armrest, hence the request for pics.

I have a small red LED in the armrest which comes on with the lights if thats what you mean? It gives a similar glow to the ashtray illumination and ambient led's.

Can probably get some pics tomorrow if you like.

I think it was factory option with the light pack.
But you can retro fit it with the part number above.

I am assuming all this and only going by ETKA. I have found it mentioned in a couple of threads years ago but nothing recent and no real information.

I've never really understood this "Light Pack" thing, mine has door marker lights and armrest illumination, but didn't have ambient lights, puddle lights or footwell lights as standard!

I would have thought that they would be the main parts of the "Light Pack" and the bits you have the extra bits.
All seems a bit back wards to me.

The lights on the edge of the door that light up when you open them so they show up to passing traffic, sometimes reflectors are fitted in their place.

Yours is the same year as mine - so I would have thought that the Light Pack included everything!
The only lights I haven't got are rear ambient lights - don't know if they were ever factory fitted or not.
Oh, and is the light that comes on when the sun visor mirror is uncovered part of the light pack?

rear ambient are a mod not a oem fit

Yeh I don't think I have the light pack fitted, there's no mention of it in the codes decoder either.

Rear LED's were never OEM fitted.

My cab had the ambient lighting lack option, white puddle lights, red door markers, footwell lights front and read, vent thumbwheels, ashtray, armrest and interior door handles.

The lights they fit seem a bit random really.

My B5 has Door markers front and rear, front foot well lights, sun visor mirror lights (on the visors, so much better than in the roof I think), front and rear map reading lights.
Soon to have rear foot well lights, air vent wheel illumination and may be the arm rest illumination.
I would like door door handle illumination but think its going to be to hard to retrofit to a B5.

Can any one get me a pic of their armrest light please?
And their door handle illumination.

I do not have Ambient Light package, so did not have vent illumination, front ambient lights, cup holder illumination, vanity mirror lights, footwell lights, puddle lights, door handle lights but do have illumination in the armrest and door markers!
Retrofitted these little items all but vanity mirror roof lights, door handle lights and puddle lights.
Rear Ambient lights as mentioned never OEM - but done that too.

I did look into door handle lights but read on other forums the illumination is pretty low and hardly worth all the effort - never found a "how to" or pictures on this either.

I've changed the title a little bit cause there seems to be more interest in the over all illumination extras with in the cab than just the armrest and the need for more information on each item.

Could we possible build up an image libary of the illumination items?

With the possible exception of door handle lights I'm sure everything else has been covered in here at some time. A lot of the guides such as footwell & marker lights, vent illumination, cupholder illumination etc are in the DIY guides sticky. Have a look in there and if there are any obvious omissions let me know and I'll try and dig out the threads and add them.

You can always then link the pictures of the lights into there and compile a guide

Id be happy with just having an arm rest. just out of interest is the arm rest part of the centre console or is it fitted to the top of the console. but i know what you mean it is quite cool all these little lights everwhere looks smart.

I need to strip mine down. This is for a B5 not a B6.
I need to route the cables, drill holes and.....Thats it really. lol

Its all done now. I'll get some pics up of it once my battery is charged up.
