A3 - S3 transformation (long...)

Rich only just seen the new photos of your car looks lovely. Once again great work, let me know if manage to suit out that head light issue.
Think i may got for some HIDs aswell
 
how did you get your leds working cause mine dont turn on.
 
Looks good mate, how much did the wheels set you back?.... I am considering what mods I want to do to mine.

I live not too far from maldon so I am going to keep that garage in mind!!
 
I was just wondering what year the front bumper is as you never stated weather it was an 09 onwards or pre 09 front bumper.

I'm intrested in this conversion as I have a 53 plate A3 (8p1? or 8L?) which is converted to single grill and wondering if an 09 bumper would fit? Thanks Rich.

Do some research mate, as all your question have already been asked and answered over and over again. Its a pre-facelift 2003-2008 or as we say on here 8P2. That Rich has on his car he just put aftermarket headlights in. Check FAQ 09 front bumper wont fit in less you change the whole front end and its alot of work. Its not a direct fit to your car which is an 8P1. Dean and Phil both members on here have done it.

Thanks and sorry. I have read quite a few and thats what I thought but thank you for the clarification. I'll try to source an 8p2 S3 bumper then but seem quite hard to find.

This build is incredible as well and looks the part, I like the fact you changed the S3 badge as well.

ive an s3 crash bar lying around from my conversion and spare door modules that support folding too the crash bar would save you any cutting etc feel free to make me an offer on it

Hi No problem, sorry if i sounded moody lol just see the same thing over and over. If your going for the 8P2 S3 conversion and you have an 8P1 like me you will need new bumper, bonnet, grille, fog light & grille surround and you need to cut the crash bar on your one or just buy Phil's lol.

They are quite hard to find, may be worth asking Stoke Audi on here how much they can do the front bumper for. As these bumpers are like gold dust on ebay and believe Rich himself went and bought all his parts new and he didnt want to wait around. The headlight he has are on ebay think there between £250-£300. I spoke to Rich last night he made a few changes to the car aswell so hopefully he will update his thread with photos or i will have to poko him to death on facebook:laugh::happy:

Don't worry, I understand it can be annoying everyone asking the same thing without looking before hand.

As I already have done the conversion from 8p1 to 8p2 standard all I need to do is get the bumper and foglight grill surrounds. I don't mind cutting the crash bar as I use an angle grinder most days of the week on my other cars (rear engined classic minis) so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm not too fussed about the headlights as don't you need to use vag-com to get them to work or have I miss read that on another thread.

Thanks phil however I'm happy to just cut it up unless the guy who did the conversion already cut it, which might explain why theres a gap between the bonnet and bumper due to not cutting it. Thanks

Correct bumper and fog light grille surrounds Oh and a S3 grille as your correct A3 grille wont fit an S3 bumper as its too big. The aftermarket headlight Rich has on his car just plug and play no vagcom needed.
 
Hey guys, I'm thinking of doing this conversion on mine...

I have the single grille shape 2006 A3, I want to get same s3 bumper as Rich's...as mine is 06 shape does that mean I dont need bonnet and wings ? and is it a simple bolt off and bolt on job ? I think i'll keep the current headlights as I'm not sure on which DRL headlights as of yet ?

Where can i get these lights from since the 2009 LED DRL wont fit without lost of alterations, costing a fortune

those will NOT fit your car mate. your car is what we call an 8P3 on here. refer to it as that as calling it an 08 is confusing because some of the later pre-facelift cars are 08s as well.
 
I also have an 2008 audi a3 in white and I was looking to put an S3 bumpers on it..Does it matter what yr s3 bumper you choose? or are most of them a bolt on bolt off job since I have a 2008 model?

Can I just call audi with my chassis number and will they tell me if it fits?

2008 doesnt mean much my friend... is it a 8P2 or 8P3 you have? DRL or LED DRL? basically if you have an 8P2 you wont be able to put the front bumper of an 8P3 S3 without changing headlights, bonnet & front wigs and also even mirrors.. Where as if you go with a 8P2 S3 bumper which is 2006-2008 then its a straight swap...
 
I have an 8p3. so I will be able to fit an 8p3 s3 bumper straigt swap? that go for back bumper and side skirts?

I got rid of my 06 A3, but have now got a newer shape 2008 / 58 plate 3 door a3...do you happen to know if this model would fit the 2010 s3 bumper without replacing wings, bonnet and headlights ?

Is the 2010 S3 still 8p3 or is there an S3 2009 8p3...

Also I have DRLs as standard can I change to audi genuine LED DRLS just plug in without mods...thanks all!
