Well after just 7 months yesterday i ordered an A4 avant black ed 136....bit of a power drop i know but i don't really get to drive the car much at all (works van) so this is the sensible option..

I took an order that is allready sitting at the docks so will be here in a couple of weeks.

Ditto !!

Traded in my 8 month old S3 yesteday for an A3 170 TDi quattro Black Edition, will take a week or so to swap the private plate over, then it's gone !

Thing I'm going to miss most is the s-tronic, stalled the TDi twice on the test run as I'm so used to driving without a clutch, lol !

Doesn't have rnse either, but can always retrofit one of those in.

Wisb i could of gone for the 170 quattro but the idea is to save money and it was going to cost too much to have one...
EJOY YOURS THOUGH

how come you both are getting rid? fuel costs etc..

Yep fuel and running costs - my mileage is about to jump from 10k to 18k, plus my income is dropping - so seemed a sensible, but sad, decision.

Worked out that over the year between fuel, road tax and insurance I'll save about £200 per month

The 170 Tdi Quattro Sportback is a great compromise, we are now on our 4th 8P 2 petrol 1 Quattro, 2 Diesel 170 Quattros. The 2008 170Q was great hence we ordered the new 2011 BE .

The new one is a much more refined car than the 2008. The newer CR Diesel engine is so quiet and the SS works too. So far getting over 50mpg..... whoopie....

Mine went yesterday.
Gutted. But needs must and my increased cummute means a derv is required.

The best bit with new Audi Diseasels (remember Thomas the Tank Engine!) is that they neither sound nor smell like Diesels!

Good luck.

Really, did you get the asking price? What you getting next?

Got £16500 in the end. About a grand less than I wanted really mate. Forgot how much a PITA selling private was. Soooo many wacky offers and timewasters.

Looking at 320d MSports with the new efficient dynamic engine. Thought if Im to change for mpg reasons might as well go for something super frugal. Will run it for a year and take it from there. If I end up not doing too many miles may look at the thirstier A4 3.0Tdi, or even back to petrol.

Cheers
Paul

You are worrying me now guys. I have just done a deal on a private S3 Sportback 2010 (59) S-tronic. Am I going to regret it? :scared2:

Have you driven one yet Paul???
I took a 320d touring for about 4 hours last week, the engine was brilliant however i only averaged 40-45 mpg i also took the A4 for the whole day and got slightly more as an average(although the BM was 184 bhp and the Audi was 136 bhp however audi will be doing a warranty approved ABT remap to 170 within the next month or so and should improve mpg slightly too...

Think carefully esp as the interior is far far nicer in the A4..if you can take them for good test drives

Shouldn't be worried mate as long as you understand the running costs, ins,tax mpg etc i only do 10-12k miles per year but with tax ins etc will save £180-£200 per month...

Best car i have ever owned though and will be v sad to see it go esp when Audi stick an extra 4k on it!!!

Well the deal is done anyway now - just have to pay and collect! I only do 8K per year which was part of my justification for treating myself to a quick petrol car. The guy was being bid in the b*****ks by Audi dealers and was moving on to a new Merc so I got a good deal. I was more concerned about what value it would retain after another 2 years more than the running costs tbh. Just got the A4 Cab to sell now....

sure you won't regret mate, i in staffoedshire too...you looked at stoke audi at all

Yes and Stafford Audi but they didnt have anything that appealed. Was browsing Auto Trader and Piston Heads and found a Jan 10 car with 13k. There are a few compromises like it being due it's first service, shortly needing 2 tyres and (if I'm being picky) a couple of wheels could do with a refurb. The upside is that its a DSG and £24k which I am happy with. Hopefully I will manage to pick it up this weekend.

Cheers

Not driven the 320 yet but it comes recommended. I had a 140Tdi A4 as a loaner last year and felt it was a bit underpowered although it was superb inside, wasnt crazy about the fwd set up neither. Im only looking at 320s. With the business edition spec which have the nav etc and a better cabin as a result. Spec for spec the 3series is cheaper than the A4 too.
Interesting point regarding the approved remap...

Cheers

bmw's are on run flat tyres have you driven one on them yet they are awful esp the sport my coilovers are more comfortable than them by a long way stick with the 4 rings

Drove a 320Msport yesterday (probably going to buy it) on 17s with RFTs and the ride was excellent.
Ok the car is not everyones cup of tea and Im not about to wax lyrical about BMW dervs here but the the chassis/ride/steering really was second to none in fact I will probably stick some 18" on it and not have to worry at all about the ride quality.

So N8, do you come across 18" M sport wheels often?

(sorry a bit, no, loads off topic)

cheers

I agree with all of the above, it was a very difficult decision for me to choose the A4 over the 320d it is a better drive but in the end i opted for the A4, i do however totally understand where you are coming from and hope you enjoy...

Cheers mate.
Same dilemna here, very nearly went for an A4 BE.
Ive settled on a fully loaded 3er, even has the super rare Sat Nav `professional` with Hard drive and widescreen etc., so with all that kit to finish the cabin off it really is nice inside. But having had 10plate A4s on loan I have to concede that the A4 cabin has that special edge.
In the end it was price and the MY10 engine/mpg that just swung it for me.
If I find that Im not racking the miles up I think then I may end up with a A4 3.0vquattro, or even petrol again.

Widescreens are always a + Paul..:)

What colour you gone for Paul???

Space grey.
There werent any colours I didnt like so focused on spec first and foremost.

Would have liked a red one but they are rare as rocking horse poo. The white ones are quite head turning but maybe slightly too shouty and Im not quite brave enough for that colour on that car. Always thing white looks its best on smallers cars such as the A3/1 series etc.
Silver looks great but very common, as does black but having had 2 black cars in the past they can be high maintenance. Met Blue also looks nice but having had a Sprint S3 for 3 years a change was needed. So kind of worked out quite well I guess.

cheers
Paul
