New Site

O this is not clever at all.
If you sroll up this page with your mouse wheel it scolls the one line posts that your pointer stops on so the one line goes out of view. You then have a page of blank posts un less you click on each one and scroll the posts back into view.

You can see that as i scrolled up the page it scrolled all the scroll bars down so the posts disappear.

We only know that there is two of them and they live a Howard Hughes type existence being looked after by a religious sect sworn to secrecy in a castle in the Lechtaler Alps in Bavaria....I've probably said too much :shutup2:

and there was I thinking I was the only one here in a secret society :undwech:

That's a normal behaviour of Windows / your browser (Firefox 4.0x by any chance?) and a scroll-wheel mouse. Historically/Normally whenever a window (or nested window) has focus (ie was the last one clicked), it will be the one to respond to scrolling. More recently there has been a trend (and this is why I mention FF4, it seems to have been adopted in that), to make whichever window (or nested window) is under the mouse pointer be the one that responds to a scroll input.

I'll have a look to see if we can put something in place to work-around it; but the easiest way is for you to put your mousepointer somewhere away from nested scrollable windows (ie in the margins at left or right), and scroll there. Et voila, only the main page content will scroll.

Regards,

Rob.

I use Google Chrome. I was really wondering why single line posts need a scroll bar when the larger multi line posts dont. ?
IE: your post 44 has no scroll bar and is viewable in its entirety where as the one line administrator post 38 needs to be scrolled to read it ?

Go to your User CP
Select general settings and near the bottom select Forum Skin and change that to fluid.

Not sure on the scorll bars.. What's that about?

Robs post is large with it's quote and no scroll bars, yet some of Paddys one or two liners have bars.

Teething troubles i am sure

Oooh I like this the alot! At Last! :respekt:

Love the new look site - good to know you guys are looking after the site for us all.

One comment as mentioned above Links are not highlighted in a different text colour so easy to miss unless you make an effort to hover over them and then notice they change colour.

An interesting point... I have a link on my IE8 Favourites Toolbar to go straight into the A3(8P) forum (http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?44-New-A3-S3-Sportback-(8P-Chassis). For some time this worked fine. Then for some reason it stopped working and each time I used it it came up with an error message saying Invalid Forum Specified. No real problem, I just clicked What's New and looked at all the new items. Then for a few days after the site was down last week it worked as before. Now it has stopped again. Not a problem just interesting as I have not changed anything at all in the link.

Delete and recreate your bookmark. It'll work just fine.

...It's happening because we're making changes to SEO, which rewrites links to forums, topics, everything. If your bookmark stops working, something's changed with SEO (this is going to be happening for a week or so to come), just navigate to the forum and update the bookmark. It'll carry on working until things change again (as I say, in a week or so it should be cool for a while).

TBH I have to agree here, these scroll bars seem well kinda pointless, on long posts they serve no purpose as the post is all shown but still has the bar from what I've seen & on short posts when you scroll down, it well, also serves no purposes lol, but is picking up the scrolling of the page so it scrolls the post up & it makes it look like a member hasnt posted any text, then you see the scroll bar has moved & you have to scroll it back up to see the minor post text, no disrespect but its a real pita to navigate through the thread with this feature enabled.

If my mouse was located on the post area itself, then the mouse obviously would take control of the scrolling of that area where a scroll bar is, but its not, the mouse is to the right which is why the scroll bar for the page is activated, but atm it seems to activate both scroll bars which is weird, I know the system mentioned by Rob as other sites I have made mistakes with mouse position, namely listing on ebay & the text input box for item description, but cause of that, I learnt to keep it away from the box to scroll the page, not that table.

IMHO I think this needs to be disabled asap, it serves no purpose/usefulness overall, bit like the new thanks/likes system, the old thanks system was a very simple feature, but did its job perfectly & think others would agree was allot more convenient.

On the note of the thanks system though, why arent the thanks clickables on the same line as the report & reply clickables, just makes a nice GUI look well messy.

Also imho, its a case of with some features on the system, if it isnt broke then dont fix it, if you get me.

Constructive critiscism you understand.

What's wrong with 'LegacyBlack' John, mush easier on the eye.

Legacy Black??? Is that an option? I've only got fluid and fixed.

And by the way Johnny, the only difference I can see between the fluid and fixed is that one of them makes text/posts stretch the entire width of the screen and the other one centres it with a space of a couple of inches on each side.

Do mods have more options then?

My drop down menu has like 7 options! lol

Well I'm obviously not a favourite then..... Just fixed and fluid here. I'm running Firefox, maybe its a browser thing.

James, use your head, Joey runs a takeaway, who you think gets free food on here.................................

Anyway refreshing seeing him not whinging about air con units or just about everyother everyday thing :p

Seeing a few Server Too busy messages this morning - including when trying to view this Page.

Thanks to the Mods though for giving up their time for such a great site.

Was going to add a Thumbs up but even that pane is giving a Server Too Busy Message.

Paul
