Wednesday Morning at 07:14, Its wet out side, cloudy, dank and generaly not a very nice day.
I went to my office and started my normaly morning routen, when I got to the bit about checking emails I was greated by the project plan of network merger project.
Great, I thought. I can finaly see what is going on and get some answers with out spending my days living hear say, wispers and speculation.
The good feeling and the sense that this project is looking suddenly came crashing down, like a fat man jumping out of plane and landing on the full size house of cards I just spent the last 4 weeks lovingly building.
2 out of the 4 Items of work that was meant to go ahead next week was done last week, which we found out by accident and which also causes a massive security breach on out system, he seems to be renaming one server to do the job of another server thats all ready in its place.
Shutting down Half of out network during school time, which is bad cause there is lessons and over 120 new
recruits joining over the two weeks he planned the system down. Why he did not put it for two weeks early when everyone is on leave I never know.
He wants to rename two servers which is almost impossible cause doing so will mean having to reinstall this pain in the *** antiquated system on over 30 PCs but even then that might now work and one of the servers is now ours. we just host it.
One of the servers he want to use as a file server for out remote site but its our only back up server with a tape drive and there is no funding to buy another one.
Inshort this hole project seems to be getting worse and the project lead is a bit of a knob. We've had so many meetings with him explaining all the issues and pitfalls with his ideas and plans but he never seem to take any of it in.
I've also heard he wants to rebuild all our PCs to their standard image, Which is fine. I dont have a issue with that. They could do with it.
But he builds ever PC with the same name, so you have to go round to the pc and change the name of every PC (we have over 500 PCs). we've allready told him we can image the PCs and keep their correct name, so no need to go to every PC.
GRRRRR Fecking hate some of the people in this company. Its one of them places that if you suck enough **** you can have any job you want, even if youre totaly unqualifyed and have no idea what youre doing (this project lead for example or our call logging supervisor person. I have no idea what she does or why she even have the job, she's only here 2 days a week......O yeah, he husband is some manager or some site some where). I could be an english literature teacher if sucked enough **** (but I wont for several reasons, 1, I'm not sucking ****, 2, My english writing skills is ****** awfull, just in case you have not noticed.
