Looked at an 56 plate s line tdi with 38k full audi service history in dark silver private sale, looked through all the spec and service history etc all is good, got a hpi check carried out by friend and all clean but i couldnt find out how to find if its a 170bhp and not the 140 any ideas?

The interior is good clean, electric sunroof, bose, arm rest, aluminium pack, cruise,

The exterior is not so good, 2 deep scratches down to the black on the back bumper, dent on the door about 4mm in diameter, and one on the wheel arch all these im sure can be dealt with pretty easily but the front bumper has driven into the kerb on the drivers side theres no panel gap problems, but its deformed the bumper slightly and pushed the fog light surround out a bit and its a deal stopper for me i cant expect it to be immaculate for a 5 year old car but its annoying me, and finally the rear lights cracked but thats a good excuse for new rear lights.

Is there anything behind the front bumper lower d/s that can get damaged?

Is there anyone who has an akoya silver front bumper for sale thats excellent cond?

If none of the bumpers any other colours front s line bumpers for sale in exc cond?

Do you think i should go for it or keep looking?

Its listed for 13500 and listed as immaculate which obviously its not do you think i should offer less if i get it if so how much should i offer?

Sorry for so many questions, but thanks in advance for you clever lot out there

Chris

that's a lot of money considering the condition. my car was only a year older but had 21k miles on it, from an Audi main dealer with silghtly different extras but well specced. it was basically in mint condition save the odd stone chip and the wheels were freshly refurbished and it cost me £13k and that was with a year's warranty, tax and MOT and with an interval service carried out.

for a private sale i'd expect a lot less off that or walk away.

in regards to finding out if it's a 140 or 170 call an Audi dealer with the chassis number and ask.

id keep looking. A 5 year old car at that price should be in good condition. I brought mine 2 months ago and it is an 04 plate - it has 1 scratch on it but apart from that is mint. i looked at a number of them and waited until i found a mint 1 and dont regret it

keep looking mate, loads of a3's about so you will never be stuck for choice. spending thatkind of money, you want a car wherethe body is in a decent condition otherwise, the little knocks will annoy you lookingat them every day

Yeah this is whats bugging me ive been advised by a mate who works at a body shop that the dents will be removed easily enough and the scratches on the rear bumper, but its the front thats annoying me, ive been looking but cant seem to find the right colour ones with the right spec my budget was up to 15k but i didnt think this one was worth 13.5k im wondering what if i decide to get them fixed to offer for the car

You can find out what bhp is on the paper spec sheet in the boot It will say 103 kw for 140 bhp .the front bumper can be repaired and small dinks can be sorted for less than a hundred quid .My 56 reg is 2007 have you checked the log book for the year etc ?Thats a high price for private are you sure there not dealers trying to front the old selling for my son crap?Offer 11500 cash IMO .Basically if your asking us i think you like it but highlite the problems .I would prefer to see these small blemishes than have had them masket to start with ..If you buy it i bet the bumper will sell on here or ebay if you dont want it repaired ,Haggle is my middle name and you have a good few things to blag on ...

Well i thought it was a higher price but i was willing to pay as it said immaculate, her son is an officer in the army and in afghan which gave us something to talk about as im just back but i think your right hes being a bit unrealistic with the price, and yes steve i have some good bargaining bits to play with if i did go for it im going to have to ponder for a while and way up pro's and cons of getting it,

How much would you think a front and rear bumper spray would be?

How much would some 2010 rear lights cost ?

Bumpers painted probably £250for both all in with the little dinks .2010 lights can be had cheap on ebay .or theres people on here who sell them ..

is it a 3 or 5 door? the 2010 rear lights are very rare on ebay but can be brought by NHN for £175 on here I believe.

its a 3 door yeah so new ones would be ok im more than willing to get new ones

I think the 140 tail pipes can't be see from the back, the 170 has chrome twin pipes coming straight out the back.

iirc the 140 tail pipes aren't chrome and point downwards slightly for that year. 170 pipes are straight and chrome. Check the sticker in the boot to be sure.

yeah its deffo 170 still contemplating on it unless someones selling a dark silver car with bose on here sub 15k

That's alot of money for the condition personally I'd walk away from it and keep searching.

lot of money for a car that age. keep looking, you will find something very very similar for less i reckon.

yeah i thought so ive been looking im not in a position to hold round for to long which is why i went to look today thinking perhaps i could knock them down a bit, but with the condition it would have to be a considerable drop in price to quantify the purchase, i just cant seem to find the right car about thats

akoya silver
bose stereo
full leather
2006 or newer
sub 50k
for up to 15k in price

the only thing you'll struggle with is Akoya. Audi have sold 300,000 odd A3s so you will be spoilt for choice.

how about:

2007 AUDI A3 2.0 TDi S Line 5dr Diesel Sportback

a lot newer than you want. a lot less miles than you want, knock them down to £12.5k-ish and then you have £2.5k for an ICE install if that's what takes your fancy. you're not missing out on much with BOSE, trust me.

I was considering looking at ones without bose but i suppose it was the one thing that did attract me to the a3 over the golf, i am however looking for 3 doors not 5 though but cheers for the link

Think ill broaden my search to all silver and akoya silver cars now, :)
