I have a 2.0 TDI 140 (I presume a PD engine as its a 56 plate) and I have only done two full tank fills since I bought it about a month ago.

Both tank fills have lasted about the same - 475 miles from full to brim to very empty (DIS says 0 miles to go).

I was kinda hoping on a fair bit more than that so should I be worried and look into possible things that need sorting or is this about normal?

I'd say that about 75% of my journeys are motorway and the remaining 25% would be town driving.

Best I've ever done in my 2.0T is 360mi. Stop whining :p

I've got the same engine in my mk5 golf, it does about 550 - 600 miles when driving like my gran but on the other hand if i blast it about it does 400 miles.

i've been to amsterdam and back on one tank.

I still don't know how you managed that.
I drove like a tacophobic granny for the whole of my last tank of fuel and only managed 300miles.
It was the most boring month of my driving life!

Possibly due a service, depends how you were driving for those miles aswell. Possibly look into mapping it if your after few more mpg

On the motorway, mostly 80 sometimes 90 and in town, just whatever the speed limits are.

:faint:

Yeah but it was still only 300 miles, with the revs never going higher than 2k in any gear.
When i started driving it "properly" again it felt like it'd been remapped!

lol i bet!

worst ive managed is 210 & best is 300 ish

I also have a 2.0 TDI 140 and i'd say i average about 550 although i've never been down to 0 miles on the DIS and I don't do much motorway driving. Tend to average about 65mpg most days.

300... even on the motorway? best mixed use ive done is over 360, worse on mine was about 190

Paulo, I’ve left for Manchester before on a full tank of V-power managed to get it up to 485 range in the DIS, but by the time I’ve had a couple of fun patches its deteriorates very quickly, let’s just say I’m totally incompetent of "not" having a lead foot....

What age is your car?

haha yea the DIS is a little optimistic haha, im hoping that i can get 400 out of a tank on a full motorway run... well that was done when i was bedding in the clutch so i had to behave haha

mine is a 2.0 TDI 140 and I tend to get avg of 50+mpg and that's without driving sensibly!

2007 2.0tdi 140 with a 182 remap if Im on the motorway doing 70 Ill get 570 miles to a tank, 80-90 I get 500-525 miles, cruising at 100 (obviously in europe) I get 475 but usual allround driving i see over 500 everytime

When did the CR engines come out as I know that they have a better MPG figure than the PD engines (which mine is).

Ha, I'm liking all the 2.0T's chipping in with their consumptions.

Anyway, I have the 2.0 TDI in my A3. No DIS though, so can only give accurate mpg, not pretend mpg.

I used to get about 450 miles from brim to light coming on. That was with 18" wheels and no remap. Put the 16's back on and got closer to 480 for the same tank full. Now have the remap on, and she can usually hit 500+ from full to light coming on (no DIS, so probably could get another 80-100 or so miles if I had that to gauge it off).

Not done the sums recently, but it was about 45mpg on 18's, so would expect over 50 with 16's and map. Driving is all sorts. Town driving at speed limit, out of town 10% above, or there abouts. Often accelerating quite hard, but sometimes not. Just respectable speeds for road conditions really.

Was surprised at the difference from changing the wheels. As I do 20k a year on average, I don't think the 18's will go back on.

Thanks for that mate.

I'm gonna start using my 'Road Trip' app on my iPhone again I think. Stopped using it when I got the A3 as it had the DIS, but now I'm realising that it's a rough guide at best.

Interesting read, glad I found this as I'm in the market for a 140 TDI myself.

wow luck guys I struggle to get 350 from my tank.car is 2007 a3 2.0tdi 140pd but had a remap. But here in malta we have very short distances so almost always on the lower gears and owner seems to have a heavy right foot :haha::
