Project RS28

Cheers guys. As said, bodyshop want me to try it for a few weeks the way it is, but if i dont go with it ive to take it back to have the lip done black for free, sure i will thou as i agree, takes the general look of the bumper away!

Wing mirrors are RS4 style, but might consider carbon in future, undecided at the minute.

In 2 deep- Would love to put a mental motor in it, but i got rid of a Sierra Cosworth to buy this as a "budget" project thats already spiralled out of control....However, bodyshop informed me of how good condition underneath etc the car is, which means i'll be holding onto it for a while, and might also consider a mental V8 or the like in a year or 2, who knows!!! Ha ha.

Yeah I was kidding when I suggested it, your gonna have to dig deep into your pockets to pull it off. You can use your existing gearbox but to get the motor in the car it depends if you use the tank like 12 valver or the 24V, custom mounts are required for the 12V but not the 24V, you use the phaeton mounts i think. You will also need the gearbox adaptor & sump pan from the phaeton, custom flywheel, starter motor not too mention the turbo mani, turbo, management etc etc etc. Not for the faint hearted or the skint! But it would have you a setup that would rival the fastest Audis out there, depends on how far you wanna go.

Fitted an new battery in the car, Optima Red top, so it lives once again! Got some more pics

placed in the dash vent?

Damn!!! Your too good at this game Ras! lol

Was initially looking at fitting in somewhere around the stereo etc but there isnt much room. The centre dash vent is the next place to measure up, or custom panel at ashtray angled, but feel that will be too far off the the drivers vision to be used.

The aim is to integrate the unit into the dash like oem rather than a surface mounted aftermarket unit thats easily stolen, messy cables etc, requires plugging in every use etc.

Do you know if anybody else has done this Ras? Any links if so to see how it looks???

Yes it has been done iirc was on drivers side vent I think also itcould easily be removed. Im using my phone to search no joy I'll try and look later

Cheers Ras, interested to see what they done with it.

Im going for completely built in i.e so that only the sat nav screen is visible and for use with touch screen, completely integrated into the dash with some clever bits.

Started stripping the car today for seat measures/custom mounts to be measured and made. Also will start istalling the stereo when seats are out, new speakers are at the couriers so will need to pick them up tomorrow.

You decided on the bumper slipper colour?

Yes mate, will defo be going black, not decided on wether its gloss or satin yet thou, hopefully get some quick previews to see at the bodyshop. Wont get done for another wk or 2 yet as the car still needs booked in for mot, then tax it before i take it down. Work is a bit busy at the min aswell, so as soon as time allows really.

Then its finish of the stereo install and sat nav, and custom mounts to fabricate to get the Recaros in, then enjoy at long last!

Damn right, your going with the PES then yeah?

Have you got a link to where you got your lip spoiler from? Quite fancy one myself.

Cant find the supplier i used but have a look here e92 lip spoiler items - Get great deals on Vehicle Parts Accessories, Cars, Motorcycles Vehicles items on eBay UK!

Somebody should go for the carbonfibre type, i bottled it incase fitting was gonna be tricky etc but couldnt believe how perfect a fit it was!

Wow, the motor really is looking the business now fella and I bet the photos hardly do it justice, cracking job you've done with this and the blower just adds a big fat cherry on top. Can't wait to see & hear this once its done, go mental mate, its the only way to fly :icon_thumright:

Thanks mate.

Must say i have had some inspiration from your motor to do something fast with mine, then the SC became available at just about the right time, never happens for me.

It really is better in the flesh, hopefully have it ready for this summer and prob head down to a couple of shows with it, be good to see/hear yours.:arco:

Good news, the supercharger arrived today, check it out

NEW UNIVERSAL SUPERSPIRAL BLUE! SUPERCHARGER KIT,5+ BHP on eBay (end time 10-Apr-11 16:50:48 BST)

As stated in the ad, it adds anything from 3 to 5 BHP!!!!!! :eyebrows:

Then further down the ad it states in now adds from 3 to 8 BHP!!!!

So that means it even adds BHP onto the original BHP of the actual kit before i have even fitted the thing!!!!:rockwoot:

Think im gonna need some big Brembo brake caliper covers to go with this eh!

brembo front brake caliper covers audi a3 a4 a6 on eBay (end time 23-Mar-11 23:20:39 GMT)

Will be doing any servicing/cleaning before install first, currently looking for oil etc as its easy to do off the car. Probably wont install it for a month or so, really should get the car on the road first, then do this over a wkend.

Made a start on the stereo wiring, not much but will need some longer cables etc then can continue with it

DSC00532.jpg

The V12 is the main amp, and think i will add the PG and possibly run the front comps active with one sub to start with, possibly adding 2nd at a later date.

Which cable is to short?

The RCAs?
Can you turn the amps around?

Na, plenty on RCA's, its the main power cable and speaker cables. The speaker cables have bullet crimps so they can be extended easily, but will just look at getting a new length of power cable for amp.

Cheeky beggar!!!

Well, im on nightshift as of tomorrow so probably wont touch it again for a fortnight! lol.

Custom made sub box coming thru the week, will update when it arrives.

So much to do, not enuff time! Boo!

I hate not having the time to do or finish things.
Feels great when it is done though.

In my case, nothing is ever done!!!

By the time i finish one section of a project etc i have new ideas or started on another section, my projects rarely get to a complete point in my eyes!!!

UPDATE

Have been doing some more work on the audio wiring, worst of its done, but MyHomeDeliveryNetwork seem to have taken a liking to my custom box that was sent too me, cant seem to get it at the minute!

Will order some new Eaton S/C oil this week and start servicing the supercharger this week, and replacing all my vacum line on the car ready for the install of it next week hopefully. Have a trackday appearence and airfield run day coming up soon so need to get ma finger oot!!!!

Update and pics soon:)

Currently in contact with my local GIAC dealer regarding the chip for running with the Supercharger kit, hoping it can be transferred from the ECU i was given into mine

Looks to be a Passat ECU

Brain surgery
008.jpg

At first i thought i'd been had as i was expecting to see a GIAC logo'd chip somewhere, on closer inspection i have found a non standard part soldered onto the PCB, marked with AMD etc, at the minute im unsure if its a correct GIAC unit or alternative, im waiting on an email from the dealer to see what he makes of it.

Have ordered some new vacum piping to replace all the vacum lines before starting the charger install. Hoping to have some oil for it also by the end of the week, then it'll be getting fitted!:racer:

wow big plans for the beast. so i guess you have decided to keep the rear lower bumper red?

Yep, starting to come together now Ras, really want in on the road in next few wks.

No, the bumper section will be done black still, just havent done much with the car, mainly wiring for stereo install and getting the supercharger ready for install. Will be going fro new windscreen for mot, then onto mot and have the bumper done when its away.

Car went away today to have new windscreen fitted next week, then off for MOT.
