B6 S4 v A5 3.0TDI Q 0-60

It cant be true... can it..

S4 (B6) 0-60: 5.8
A5 3.0 (oil burner) 0-60: 5.9

There is no way I want to lose to a diesel lol

Any S4 owners getting less than 5.8 from stock?

I think on test S4s have got a snatch over 5 seconds. I doubt a diesel would get near it as you'd probably have to change gear 3 times!

That seems surprising, diesels usually excel in the more mid range type of performance, as I'm sure the V8 will be revvier.

The V8 is pretty revvy right enough. But it doesn't REALLY surprise me that the new V6 TDI is that close. Well maybe a little as that is damn close. But, by comparison, my 8P A3 2.0TDI (138) after its map, felt no slower than my Golf V6 4Motion in a straight line.

So thats a 4-pot diesel against a 6-pot petrol. So a 6-pot Diesel against an 8-pot petrol, especially when you are talking 7-8 years newer engine in the diesel.

Now map that 3.0 TDI and watch it go...

This clip shows what I'd expect. Initial first 100 yards I would expect torque from diesel to make the difference, however as the V8 begins to stretch it legs its all over.

Yep, pretty much as expected. The 0-60 times would be close there too. 0-100 times would see a big difference though.

Be carefull what you're saying mate ! The v6 tdi does have massive torque and with just a little mapping it goes well over 300 brake horse power. There is a white a5 tdi in romania wich humiliates many petrol so called "sports cars" ! Here's a link:

Be carefull what you're saying mate ! The v6 tdi does have massive torque and with just a little mapping it goes well over 300 brake horse power. There is a white a5 tdi in romania wich humiliates many petrol so called "sports cars" ! Here's a link:

It wouldnt surprise me if it was close.... A friend has a 335 diesel BMW and that is VERY similar to my S4.....

You're missing the point mate, each car has its own timing device and it does not matter who took off first, it starts counting since the car got rolling. Under 13 sec. quarter mile time is seriously quick in a 4 wheel drive weighing over 1700kg car let alone in a derv !

The owner for that A5 is from Romania and have 350hp;there is another A5 from Romania with close 400hp REVO stage 2+

Nu stiu prea mult despre a5 lui massimo, eu sunt mai mult interesat de "old skool" v6 tdi power ! Ar trebui sa ne intilnim odata, eu stau in Muswell Hill, Nordul Londrei...
