Finally got em on, makes such a difference

The ride is pretty much the same as the S-Line suspension in my opinion!

Stupid question i know but what are all the benefits of fitting coilovers?

They obviously lower the ride, thus improving handling? less body roll etc..Is it something that you have to declare to your insurance company?

Thanks in advance

benefits of coilovers is you can adjust the ride height to a level your happy with,as with springs they sit where they sit and thats it. Any modification,i.e wheels, suspension etc must be declared to your insurance company otherwise in the event of a claim they may fail to pay out.

Thanks for the explanation. Ive always wondered as so many people on this forum seem to have them.

FINALLY!!! Looking slick smudge!!!

Yeah get rid of the bird's muck please!

Looks great and nice to know the ride has stayed nearly standard

YES! That's loads better, a clean then a pic froma little further away I think....:o.k:

Owwww, how can you leave bird crap on your car, I feel ill, gonna have to go and clean things now. :icon_thumright:

Lookin sweet mate, such an improvement to the looks when they're lowered, love it!!!

Looks like it has settled a bit already.

It is lookin' low now. I like alot :hubbahubba:

CLEAN IT!!!!! :asskicking:

By the way, now that it really needs a wheel upgrade have you done anything about painting / fitting your new wheels? Interested to see how it pans out!

It's looking much improved having been lowered! Out of curiosity, as the rear appears to be quite low, have you had a car full yet? any awkward rubbing?

Also, Munzzz asked a question earlier relating to whether coilovers improve handling... do they?

I currently have the standard S-Line suspension but often when pushing theres a bit of body roll, will coilovers stiffen the car up and reduce roll?

I haven't no, but i do currently have about 40kg worth of tools in the back and everything is fine!

Coilovers will improve handling immensely

You seriously need to clean it man, but looking super slammed, hope you sort the knockin out dude!

Cheers bud, gonna raise em by 5-10mm tomorrow, see if that helps anything

Hopefully when i have the 19s on i'll be able to slam it again with no problems :)

Looks sweet, I'm seriously thinking about weitecs, what's the ride quality like? And how low are they in those pics?

Lol this is an old thread... so old that he sold the car and sold the coilies to me and they've been fitted to my car for a good few months.

He didn't put spacers on, he went for wider VMR710s

Ride quality wise they're marginally better than the standard S-Line suspension. They don't crash as much over bumps either. I haven't wound them down as low as he has, but the body roll is much improved. I doubt it's improved the handling by much, but it definitely gives you the confidence to push the car a tiny bit harder.

Definitely worth the money imho

Ride was slightly better than the S-Line suspension, but the whole car felt stiffer and a lot better in the corners

Was down all the way so about 65mm

Looks so much better fella. Are you putting spacers on?

I had 8mm spacers on the rear wheels when i put the VMR's on

Which Weitecs dude? Looks good :)

Hicon GT's

 at bumping a year old thread, but thanks for bringing back memories!

yeah still enjoing them but they still knock... never got to the bottom of that one.

Hi Smudge_don, just a quick question. You say that the coilovers are better than the S-line susupension in corner which is good but just wondering can you feel all the bumps now on the road or is it same as s-line? Just asking because im thinking coilovers next. Thanks in advance.

Really? Have you had them checked out anywhere buddy?

I never had a problem with them

yeah i had Midland VW (who fitted them) have a look - they couldn't see anything wrong either.

The ride was definately firmer, but not bumpy. I found that the S-Line suspension used to crash into potholes and bumps, whereas the Weitec's were firmer but smoother

Weird :\ sure it's nothing on your car?
