fitting coilovers

a little update ,ive got my rear coilovers on the car now as they were the easy ones to do just got the fronts to do now here's a little teaser pic of what the rears look like now set at half way on the adjusters going to wait for them to settle down a bit first then wind them down a bit more

They ride well.
i hear good things about them n8 , i tested the difference between the standard set up and the v-maxx set up and there is alot more give in the v-maxx the standard set up is soo very very hard on the sport and the s-line isnt it

oo i like teaser pics. looks good already, like i said on fb mate can be a baller trying to do them on your tod, the tool thats has been mentioned is good but ! you can just use a thick chisel works perfect.

cheers warren , yeah thanks for your comment on fb mate , im doing them in work on my dinner hours so can always get a helping hand if i need it , thats why i thought it would be better to do it in work as ive got air tools in work to make my life a hell of alot easyer , when i was doing the backs i did them both in an hour one side took 40 mins the other 20 mins as i knew what to take off with the proper tools etc.. air tools dont half make it easyer to take off tight bolts that havent been off in a while , hopefully will make an easyer job on the fronts too cant wait to get them done now

preview pic looks stunning :) looking forward the whole car and additional pics... i think that it will persuade me to get also this mod and finally get rid of that terrible 4x4 stance..

thanks mate i cant wait to get the job finished beleve me lol, yeah do it , its such a good mod to do and it improves the ride comfort from the standard set up well worth they outlay

I did remove the drive shafts from the gearbox on the Ibiza to allow the whole hub to swing so that I could drop out the original suspension. Sometimes it does help ;)

How is it possible to adjust the front camber as the shocks go into the hub and lock in, older cars use a two bolt method so that one bolt is cambered and allows the hub to swing in and out.

I know from past experiance of coilovers on these cars will increase the camber the lower you go and usually ends up scrubbing the inside of the tyres!

drivers side is done without taking out the drive shaft i didnt need to take it out just got the pass side to do tomoz now just about ready to take the strut out of the car to replace it with the new one , interested to know about the camber tho as to when i have the tracking done is there anything i need to tell the garage who is doing it

Surely you do not need to remove the drive shaft?

I didn't. But you need coil spring compressors that are around 15-20 mm shorter than the norm. I had issues getting the coils off on the normal spring compressor. Got one that was 20 mm shorter and it worked a treat

well today i got the coilovers done really happy with them  havent dropped it to the floor as got to let them settle first anyways here's a quick pic only managed to get one before it got too dark now she looks so much better :hubbahubba:

cheers mate took about 3 and a half hours total as the bolts on the anti-roll bar links were solid so couldnt get them off easy but got them off eventually

When you get results you don't mind the time and effort

Well done!

cheers mate yeah its worth the time and effort and great satifaction knowing i did it all myself with no help from anybody
I wouldn't have a clue and wouldn't trust myself. Just about managed to fit my S3 pedals tonight haha

Looking good Fran!!!!!

Bet ur a happy chappy now:)

What's the ride like?

its easy its just time consuming thats all on the back its litterly 4 bolts and on the front its 6 bolts and nuts easy just takes a little time , i was doing them over my dinner hours mind you it was so much easyer using air tools in work they make life so much easyer
