I woke this morning and my A3 has been stolen in east Manchester area. :( It's an TDI 170 S-line in Akoya Silver (light silvery purple) - they have broken in through the conservatory and taken the key - can't believe I didn't hear anything.

Anyone in the Manchester area keep an look out; the reg is DS06 VLM - it has the bi-xenon headlights and facelift LED rear tail lights. It has the standard 18" RS6 style S-Line alloys fitted with Hankook V12 EVO all round.

Gutted for you.

Will be in Manchester today so will keep a eye out!

I live in Manchester mate and go all over the place i will keep a look out.

Never good to hear this on the forum, gutted for you mate! Fair play to any guys keeping an eye out for this car but the plates have been swapped straight away id think so bear that in mind.

getting more and more common these days isn't it? If anything threads like this not only get the word out about the car in question but should raise awareness of guy on here with bad habits like leaving the car keys in the back of the door etc

How many is this in Manchester now? Surely the Police have some idea who this gang of robbing gits are!

as nigel said on the phone to me, the north is a hot spot for audis to go missing. theres only so much you can do to try and cut down the chances of the audi going, so many people showing cars with the number plates which would only take someone dodgy in dvla or similiar 15seconds to get your address, keep the plates covered on pictures! sorry for your loss :( insurance pay out should be abit on top though on the plus side :)

my keys sleep next to me and a baseball bat, if anyone wants my keys there have to do a fair bit. not so easy though if you have a family to think about, with me its only the mrs... they can have her :D lol

sorry to hear about the thieving beeps. Im like j50sho, I now take all my valuables to the bedroom, including the dog, and I leave the missus by the door :) She would scare off any burglar!

Thanks for the comments. I don't think it's related to showing reg no's (could be wrong though), I think they must drive round looking for anything that looks reasonable. I mean in reality it's just a 5dr diesel car, it's not an S3 or even that new, but I suppose it looks the part being an S-Line. Really annoyed as I travelled a lot late last year to find this car and had done a few things to tidy it up to get it how I wanted (new S-line wheels, Cruise Control etc) and it drove perfect.

It appears it wasn't a one-off as a neighbour had their A4 S-Line taken too at the same time - their's was a 58-plate. Same people.

tbh I wouldn't want to keep the keys by my bedside, if they really want the car don't really want to be woken up in the middle of the night by some gang wanting the keys. Also got a 4 month old baby upstairs too.

What's made things worse is we'd booked a holiday to fly 6:40am today so we were up at 4:30am anyway (and not really slept when you know you getting up early), but have had to scrap that now so not sure if I can claim anything back on this. Heard a car set off around 3:45am so it must have been that but didn't hear a thing inside the house.

absolutly gutted for you mate, suppose to be getting my A3 in April (I'm from Manchester too) and this kind of thing has been on my mind for a while now after reading about so many going in the north west!

I totally agree with you, cars can be replaced, a life can't. Thieves these days will stab you to get what they came for especially when you startle them!

Sorry to hear about your hassles - I really hope the insurance pay out okay.

On the plate thing, I think the OP was referring to those lowlife who look about for easy targets for cloning - some feel that putting your plate on view on a forum could increase the risk of cloning over and above someone happening to pass your car, writing the number down and cloning it.

As one who experienced much hassle after my car was cloned as I was buying it, I fully agree, but we all have our own thoughts!

there've been a lot of instances of theives leaving cars in nearby carparks to ensure they're not tracked before they go back and take it for good. why not do a driveby near to you and see if you can see it?

Sorry to hear about the car I think your right on keeping the keys downstairs when you've got a family upstairs It's not worth the risk if they want it that bad. A friend of a friend was broken into in a suburb of Birmingham for a new 3 series diesel nothing special but that's what they want so it dosen't stand out. They went in shotguns blazing for that luckily no one was seriously hurt. He rufuses to buy a nice car now and is running an old polo in fear of this sort of thing happening again and his family getting hurt. Of course the scum were never caught! I hope the ******** who got yours get caught and r*ped in the prison showers. Good luck with the insurance

not another nice car gone like i said in the last thread it seams like everyday a nice audi gets nicked feel really sorry for you fella and hope the insurance pay out all ok just remember its only a car it can be replaced a life cant !

Thanks again, for the comments.

My first thoughts were about the tracker too, did drive round but just to occupy myself rather think I'd find it I think! It would be easy to identify even with false plates on. I never saw another Akoya Silver Sportback 170 S-Line whilst I had mine so it's relatively rare but with the bi-xenon headlights that's a very rare and distinctive option. Also the 2009 rear lights would make it stand out on an 06 plate.
