So, as i mentioned in another thread, last month I decided I wanted a nice tidy engine bay,
which was going to involve some degreasing, polishing, replacing rubber for silicone, removing SAI pump, and charcoal canister..
also got a new header tank

Got it all done and back together, with an R8 oil cap aswell.

Polished: rocker cover, charge pipe, charge pipe brackets, inlet manifold, fuel rail, FPR, throttle body and strut brace.

Polished forge 007P aswell.
Im happy with the outcome, let me know your thoughts..

I know the headlight washer pump is out in the pics, thats because it was getting blanked over as ive had my front bumper smoothed aswell

Heres the pics

That looks spot on mate. How did you polish everything? I just went matte black with all those parts this weekend as I though black would hide any oil better ;)

Cheers dude! I didn't polish them myself, took then to a local company to do for me, i spent about 15hours cleaning the rest of the head and gearbox etc, the part of the head where the inlet bolts too, looks like its brandnew, shame its not realy visible anymore lol
its going to take alot of maintaining i fear lol

That looks amazing!
cheers mate, took alot of cleaning

you may want to put a couple of clips on the joiner for the DV hoses from the charge pipe mate...

Very shiny though

I took the pic before adding the jubilee clips to that joiner mate, i put a couple on some other places too!

Great work, looks very bling, whats the strutt brace made out of? as that been chromed or polished?

steel i think, then it had a plating on it, then powder coat,
everything you see is polished.

i was going to clear coat some of the bits, such as the strut brace, but the polisher says as long as i give it all a wipe over everyweek, and a good polish/buff every few weeks then it will all be fine

Looks well, but I reckon you should replace your turbo to charge pipe, pipe with a blue silicone item, should finish it off nicely.

wow, looks awesome, well done. Have you thought about getting the dip stick done in blue?

Also, whats the deal with Xenons and no headlight washers? I thought that was a legal requirement?

yeh i know mate, i think its just a 90degree piece? i'll take it off and measure the diameter of both ends, as i dont know if its a reducer or the same on both sides

cheers mate, i dont know what to do with the dipstick? would it be ok just painted?
and as for the xenons requiring washers.. my pump wasnt working and it passed its mot, so its no different to how it was before

Looks very nice mate! :) Would look better with the plastic covers back on though for the washer bottle and battery.

Technically, your car should fail the MOT if you don't have working headlamp washers or auto levelling, according to Aftermarket HID (Xenon) headlamps.

I think most MOT stations turn a blind eye at the moment, but I have heard there is legislation in progress to enforce this more, due to cheap crappy Xenon 'upgrade' kits.

Cheers,

Is there anything i could coat the strut brace in to keep it polished?
Its only been done a week and i can see little rust dots appearing!

Troopa, i think it looks better without the covers on, i tryed with both.
Im in the process of making my induction heatshield too, then its complete :)

I have done my inlet manifold last week, I will do the charge pipe and then the rocker cover..

Like I said lacquer will go cloudy and almost looks like its bubblin off, the strut brace gets so so hot in the middle. Wax would burn surely? Can't believe I've gotta polish mine again :( goodluck coyle in keepin it this way!

I may just paint it the same colour as the silicone.
Everything else seems fine to maintain, its just the strut brace that looks like it will be an issue.

Cheers for the good feedback.
Im realy glad Ive done it, now on with the keeping it clean haha

im really impressed with this, looks fantastic. coyle the feeling you get when you lift your bonnet is fantastic you know everyone will be jellous, im the same when i pull my pants down in the gym showers. you can see your face in your huge shiny pipe. well done son.
