The amazing spoiler thread

heeman - your post said its an extra 30 if you have the sportback model, but i have the 3 door model!

You'd better call whoever you're going to buy the spoiler from and ask them then hey buddy? ;)

Hey guys, is the spoiler for the hatchback and sportback the same i.e. same shape.

Reason i am asking is i am finding it hard to find a 3dr spoiler but quiet a few for the sportback,
Basically could i fit the sportback spoiler on my 3dr a3?

Hi Jimmy

No you will need a 3door spoiler. Sportback wont fit an 3door

Cheers mate for that, i knew aready but i just had that little tiny bit of hope. I think i read someone got one for £40 so i've made that my target price. I've just got fed up of searching to tell truth

Actually i have can get an a line spoiler for 70quid of a breaking a3,is this worth it? obiously it will need spraying. Should i pay that amount or wait it out for a cheaper one to come along?

all depends on if its ok i know it'll need spraying but if its strait and true then i think its worth £70 all day long as new ones are around £200 plus spraying cost so prob around £250- £300 depending on where you get it sprayed

Planning to buy an s-line spoiler but need a few things cleared up if possible please...how does the s-line spoiler attach (seem to remember reading that you need to drill holes into the tailgate?) and will I need a new brake light for my 3 door SE? Thank you in advance.

you dont need a new brake light for the 3 door only for the sportback does it need a new brake light , the spoiler attaches one of two ways or both ways its up to you the first is by bolting it on by drilling holes in your boot lid or the second is to bond it on with body adhesive the same stuff they use in bodyshops ( it strong enough dont worry) most people bond it on as its far less work to fit it any compitant bodyshop should be able to fit it no probs hope this helps

What's the part number for the votex and s line? This hasn't been covered which i think is very important ?

warrenlord - A quick call to Audi would tell you that :) Feel free to call them then post the numbers up matey!

I've had my S-line spoiler painted and fitted now, but the electrical connector on my car's loom doesn't match up to the new brake light, which is a bit of a pain in the backside really. I'm now scouting around to find someone breaking a Sportback S-line so I can chop the connector off!

I had the same problem with the electrical connector. If you go to your local dealer you can buy an adaptor lead that plugs into your original connection and your new brake light. Does not cost alot, but I can't find a part number for you.

I've rang audi and they have all of a sudden don't know what the codes are?? Anyone have them?

Thanks a million for that info :) I PM'd Stoke Audi yesterday, so will hopefully receive a response and a solution tomorrow.

yep. i brought 1 off an s3 a few weeks ago and fitted it on friday. exactly the same.

I spoke to Dave at Stoke Audi today, and sure enough he was able to order me a short adaptor which will plug into the connector on the end of my car loom. The other end will connect to my new brake light. The cost? Just under £27, for what I am assuming is about a 50mm long loom with two tiny plastic connectors! Anyway, it will get my brake light working, and the spoiler makes my car look SO much better. It also makes it look even more as though it needs me to buy some coilovers for it, and some 19s, and tints..! :sly:

I bought an original S3 Roof Spoiler off ebay for £60 last year! I left it black and cut the lugs off then stuck if down with special bonding adhesive! It's stuck like sh@#t to a blanket! :rockwoot:

Actually probably is considering the price, s3 is more like £200+.

The roof spoiler seems genuine according to the part number. I checked it in ETKA. Also to tell you the truth, I think S-line & S3 roof spoilers are the same! My black roof spoiler is apparently from a S3 which I bought from ebay £60 last year.

Interesting ! The part number I have in ETKA for the spoiler is - 8P3 860 943 GRU(primer)

That's for a 2004 2 door A3

By the way, in ETKA the ebay spoiler part number 8P0071640K (roof edge spoiler with high mounted brake light)

The 9AX means primed

mike foster, I think 8P3 860 943 GRU(primer) must be S3

and 8P0071640K9AX must be S-line

no idea! cant tell from that picture - though id expect it to be the votex for that price!

Exactly !!

Sorry Josiah - that part number does not exist in my copy of ETKA (version 7.2 update 847)

I'm also using ETKA (version 7.2)

I searched randomly by model year "Audi A3 2007", then item description "spoiler", results "aerodynamics attachments parts", then "illustration 5 - 8P0071640K"

OK mate - I've found your search. I must admit I was looking for the original spoiler for rear lid, not aerodynamic attachment parts !

My apologies

owenjt - It looks like a Votex spoiler to me, and the price would suggest the same :)
