3" Downpipe Guide - would it be useful for anyone?

Good if you can get it sorted as they looked well made and were cheap enough :)

Aw ok cheers dude. Im not that bothered that the cat dont work on my car thats why ive taken it out. Its just most people in the group buy thread asked for a sports cat to be legal but from what ive read and sure you have they are not legal cats. Come MOT time they will have to pay for another sports cat and someone to fit it which aint cheap. By the time you pay for the downpipe and cat and another cat to be legal you would be better off buying a piperwerx which fits straight away and legal. Only regret so far with my car was buying a XS exhaust as it was a waste of money for me and badly rusted up now too. Buy cheap buy twice applies with me in this case.

Saying that though you have put alot of effort into this system to make them fit and hopefully pass and emissions test so if the revised one does the above, fair paly to you welly and thanks for all the effort you put into it.

Not heard of them being prone to rusting before to be fair. I'll keep an ear to the ground on that one.

Ye i havent heard of any rusting really. Mine does hang quite low and i think the snow got to it but was quite surprised as its meant to be stainless steel.

Mine had to hang low because the flex part was rubbing on my prop and chassis quite badly. Seen 2 in my local exhaust place and a LCR was there having the cat taken out and the flex pipes were all different lengths and diameters. My exhaust place wanted £150 to take the system off and sort it all out but i wasnt willing to pay that as i still needed to buy a cat on that, So I just got the exhaust really hot and played with it till it wasnt rubbing.

Sorry if it sound like im just moaning for the sake of it but thats what mine was like, maybe a one off really bad one but mine was absolutely rubbish lol and so much work to get it fitted then my sports cat was useless lol, oh well you live and learn.

Sounds no different to the troubles I've been having with my Pipewerx one mate. Sits so so close to the prop as well - it's always going to as it's tight as a gnat's chuff coming down through there.

Again, the Pipewerx one hangs much lower than I would like, however there isn't much that can be done about it. It also is no longer looking like stainless steel. Bottom line is that it is going to happen. Stainless steel will deteriorate when it gets hot.

OK peoples, I am not getting dragged into a debate about how good the XS Downpipes are or aren't. That's not what this thread is about. It's not about the cats, it's not about the fitment issues, it's about if people want me to document a fitting or not.

There are plenty of other threads, some of them mine, where we can discuss the latter in detail.

I propose to wrap up this debate by posting these photos from my old stock pile. This is of the XS Downpipe V1 which I had mid last year. Shows comparison to the layout of the stock DP and cats, as well as being put side by side with a Pipewerx downpipe (and we all know that these are currently the forum favourite).

Sorry westle if im putting you off but that was my experience with this system. I may of had a one off one but thats what i had. Not many people on here are running them on S3 so n much feedback yet on here apart from wellys. Few of LCR guys run them but they have alot more room than use due to only being FWD. The LCR that was in the garage had a lot of work done to it to get it to fit from looking at it on the ramp. I dont know if that one failed its emissions but it was in for a cat removal.

My advice would be wait for a few people to fit the revised downpipe and sports cat and see if ALL fit flush and passes a MOT.
